    The difference between the 2, is what is accomplished off of said death.
    If you died, but it setup a team ace while the enemy had an open nexus. That is 100% worth it. But if you dieing constantly and getting nothing off of it, stop.
    Like if i'm playing Malphite, and see a 5 man ult that will guarantee the entire enemy team dies. Even if I go down in the process at 40 minutes. I'm taking that chance since there is a very strong chance my team will just win the game off of it

    • @minhducnguyen9276
      @minhducnguyen9276 4 дня назад

      Especially if you have another AoE follow up. A landed Malphite- Oriana wombo combo is almost a guaranteed team wipe. Because even if any of the other teams survive they are guaranteed to be limping back to base with 50% health and that's generous.

    • @snolls105
      @snolls105 3 дня назад

      yeh, and it's also worth noting that with a lot of engage supports, you don't really need to scale to be effective, so having a high death count literally doesn't matter. I'm mostly thinking of Thresh, where I pretty regularly ran it down in laning phase while trying to learn him, but that didn't stop me from being able to accomplish something during mid & late game. Meanwhile, if I'm playing something like Irelia, when I run it down, the game kinda just sucks to play because I have no hope of accomplishing much before the game ends. Tho tbf part of that is because I'm, like, Really Really bad at Irelia.

  • @WhoStoleMyNachos
    @WhoStoleMyNachos 4 дня назад +2

    It is a matter of value. The reason dying is seen as bad is because you are giving gold, exp, potentially objectives, you're losing waves and plates, i.e lots of value to the other team when you die. However, if your death generates more value than you lose by dying, it's worth it. You have to think about the whole picture, and the goal with the idea of "die less" isn't to simply die less, it's to give less VALUE to the other team, and not dying is one of the most guaranteed ways to do that. If I'm playing viego, and a 2v2 fight breaks out between me, my top laner, the enemy top laner, and the enemy jungle, and I end up dying... but my laner gets 2 kills, 2 waves, and a turret plate, that's nearly 1k gold in value for my laner (600g from kills, 200 gold from 2 waves, 125 from turret plate) and even if you subtract the 300 gold given to the other team by me dying, it's still a net positive of 600-700 gold, making that death worth it immediately right now in the short term both from the gold and the exp standpoint, but also if in the long term that gold lead lets my laner deny their opponent a ton more of cs, a ton of exp, and lets them help at objectives they otherwise wouldn't be able to, the value of that one death by the end of the game may end up being somewhere in the 2k-3k range, making it a very high value death and completely fine to die there. If I'm playing any tank with high engage like Ornn Alistar Leona Malphite etc, and I land a 4 man ult at 30 minutes, but I die after I go in on that ult, that is completely fine value wise, because my team can just straight up end the game and win off that. The goal isn't to be afraid of dying, the goal is to be afraid of low VALUE deaths.

    Karthus main here, karthus passive is a last resort and nothing more. Yes in the mid/late game you want to be in the middle of teamfights to deal the most damage but even then you should stay alive as long as possible to deal the most damage. Staying alive= dealing damage. His passive is only an extension of your damage used as a last resort. If you see a karthus dying and inting but saying "its fine im karthus lol" report him immediately.

    This is why I, as a silver support main, hate the current shutdown system. It is INCREDIBLY unfair that the 5/0/7 support can have a 1000G shutdown because the enemy is inting their ass off. The enemy vayne can be 0/20 for all it matters but if you make just one single mistake the game is just over because vayne with 1000G snowballs to hell and back while a fed support cannot solo carry a game. Bausens law is incredibly funny when he does it but the concept behind it ruins so many games

    Kinda makes me think of Pokemon, where tactical deaths are way more common than League, probably because the player is controlling every piece on the board instead of just having control over one of them. But, you can really see the value of pressure in early gen meta-games where Explosion and Self-Destruct were common moves to give Pokemon. You lose your guy, but you gain an insane amount of pressure in return (there was some jank where exploding not only chunks the opponent, but it also prevents them from doing their turn if you outspeed and explode).

    Another point of order about people chasing K/D/A.
    Let's say that you're hardstuck gold but have never given up a single kill in your entire league of legends career: I'd say with 100% certainty that you're not bringing your team enough value because you never *ever* take a risk or push your limits. You need to learn when it's OK to take risks, push your lead or gamble to get yourself back into the game, and you'll never learn how to do that if you're so focused on never ever dying that you never make a play.

But in teamfights, I played a crucial role, as I was the person, who could peel the most for our ADC. We were hard winning at a point in the game, because the enemy couldnt get onto our ADC. Then he inted and our whole team inted and the game slipped from our grasps. It was a sad game.

    I play singed and Orianna top, you may flame me but 90% of the time when I'm in a bad matchup, I want to be left alone. Especially if I'm gonna be shit stomped because my goal is to proxy (if I'm on singed) or prevent top laner from roaming (with Orianna) by keeping as much pressure as my laner will let me have. Singed I find is much easier to go 0/10 but come out positive because of proxying. I have a lot of options for wave clear and in some cases I can get out without dying but in the case I do die, my opposing laner lost something in return. However I still get flamed endlessly when its late game and I am carrying but my team is doing stupid stuff out of tilt leaving only me and its practically impossible to solo 1v5 as singed. Orianna is more complex because her strength isn't laning, its her CC and AOE damage, so even if i lose late game I almost always make up for it (if my team will stay alive) by ulting and shielding

    As someone who tried inting Sion (after analysing what Baus considered worth to die for etc) it is pretty hard. If I remember correctly I ended the game with something like 5-8 deaths for like 2-4 kills. I still won. It's not how many deaths it's what you make out of them.
    Despite winning with it I did not play any other game of inting Sion since. I mean watching a grey screen for half an hour isn't the most fun thing out there. I still enjoy playing Sion from time to time but not inting, just trying to make the most out of my deaths when they do eventually happen.

  • @HeavensBane53
    @HeavensBane53 4 дня назад

    So there's something that's been around in pro dota for many years now called the "tactical feed" where a player forces a fight they know they will die in, probably in exchange for 0 kills, because they can ultimately get more out of that death than the enemy gets for killing them. For example, the support, who are usually the ones doing this, might be too low on resources to meaningfully contribute to the lane but can't afford to spend the time on a trip back to base then back to lane, so taking a trade and dying is the best way for them to get value out of their remaining resources while also getting a free trip back to base. This specific example of course doesn't apply to league, where recall is a thing and tp scrolls aren't, but the principle remains.
    Also arguing over who is to blame for a loss is a completely pointless venture that only distracts you from improving yourself. Plus the answer is always "the jungler" so the problem is already solved.

  • @onurkayarlar935
    @onurkayarlar935 4 дня назад

    To give a simple example from my own experience;
    As a Lillia player, no matter how far behind I am or how many counter jungles I am exposed to, I can end the game as soon as I throw a Flash in the middle of the opponent's team and make a Q-R. Some 5 man ultimate completely changes the course of the game. That's why playing with champions with lots of CC always strengthens your hand.

    Obviously it's an opinion and not a fact, but I disagree hard with the last mistake being the worst one, especially if you are looking to improve and climb.
    If you make a game losing mistake 35 minutes into a very hard game, you may lose that one individual game. But that individual game has no real value over the entire split, where you probably played over 300 games, so it doesn't actually mean much. If you consistently get to the 35 minute mark being as strong as you were in that loss, you will still win the vast majority of your games and therefore, climb.
    But on the other hand, if you constantly go 0/5 and 2 levels down by 14 minutes, even if you have amazing mid to late game macro, you won't win most of your games, because once you are behind, you no longer have control over the game, it's on the enemy to make mistakes and you can only wait to punish those. Because how League is designed to be snowbally, the first mistake is always the most relevant, because it completely conditions the rest of the game, regardless of how long, short, hard or easy it ends up being

    nah, fuck that, I have every right to criticize Baus because imitation is the sincerest form of compliment that the mediocre can pay to greatness, so when I get filled out of toplane some shmuck can go 0/8 in lane because "bausen law trust" and beside being at a disadvantage because I'm off-role, I'm also staring down at a Darius with a score of anywhere between 12/0 to 12/3, if it's not Darius it's Camille or Jax or Renekton and the only thing left for me is to take the L, wasting a whole game worth of time because it was lost in champ select, 2-3 years ago it happened often enough to hate Baus for playing like that

    I think a good video idea for this series could be about the difference between 'dependent' and 'independent' pressure and how that changes champion dynamics across levels of play
