you guys are lucky as all hell none of you guys didn't get hurt or killed by leaving that key way in the shaft before starting it with nothing holding it on ;)
I remember dealers, tire shops, etc giving those away in raffles to get business coming in. Pained up like the Indy racers of the time. Always wanted one.
THat's pretty awesome.(I'm going back in time to see you stuff from BBR started, and am really glad you've kept them up)Keep Building awesome stuff guys.
That's a pretty cool go-kart. I had one exactly like it once. and I have that same steering problem. I cut the frame in half an extended it and then I put on a 13 horsepower motor. And did away with the single wheel drive and put on a solid axle for two wheel drive!!
That 3.5 hp Briggs & Stratton could still be used, they are very reliable and well built. I could get it going with some junkyard parts, I've rebuilt many of them.
ooooh.... improvement time! give those steering kingpins about 12 degrees angled back, give it a live axle setup. like turning left: front right tire turns forward angling slightly UP (as left front turns back+down to press down to help lift), rear left tire (the one to the inside of the turn) lifts up 1/8" to 1/4", so you don't need a rear differential. being you've already slapped a 212 onto it, might as well make it handle more like a little racer. it may need a little more tubing added for rigidity, so it can do what I'm describing better, but after some fiberglass and paint work that little old toy could be pretty special.
Next time you have a locked up engine pour marvel mystery oil down the spark plug hole and get it into the valves and let it sit overnight. Marvel really is a marvel. A neighbor didn’t mix oil in his 2-stroke scooter and the engine was completely locked. I could stand with all my weigh on the kick starter and the piston wouldn’t move. Marvel down the spark plug hole for a couple hours and amazingly it came back to life and ran like it was never ceased.
I did that and i got it running got a new formula one go cart body bolted that on put some new pedals on replaced the wheels.. it worked a treat till i crashed 😂
Dave Scheer haha yeah we've been searching for a salvaged motorcycle for a while. Really waiting to find a good deal before we get one though and some other projects need finishing lol
Before you hack up the steering and body more first try adding an extension to the top of the steering column. I have a similar go kart and had to do the same thing. It was way easier to add the extension than basically re-doing the front end.
You are AWSOME! I am trying to make a go cart out of a old lawn mower I found in the woods. It is a 5.6 hp. And I have no idea how to build one. Every thing needs a starting point.
Get a live axle on that kart and it will probably fly. I'm thinking if we manipulated the position of that engine mount, stick a 670cc engine in the middle with the exhausts facing the back, fabricate an F1 body rear end and have the exhausts pop out the back like an F1, then a disc brake or two? The possibilities of upgrades are endless until the imagination or wallet runs out of fuel.
That is a really cool score on the old gocart I kind of agree with the other comment about rebuilding the old motor I had a older Briggs done at a votech high school for practically nothing in parts and that engine is still running over 15 years later with no problems. Plus it actually. Got bored And. Shaved giving it a little more power too ( that was the teachers idea ). To get the old girl going as cheaply as he. Could for me it had sat outside for a long time before i bought. A used cart At a yard sale It ran with horrible compression when i got it. So i took advantage of a small engine Shop at a high school Labor was free. Although i did make a contribution for a fundraiser they had going on ?
cool kart but let me give you a word of advice. REPLACE the butterfly steering wheel with a round our , I know it doesn't look as cool but as a kid I almost lost my manhood in a go kart wreck to a steering wheel like that one .
I liked what your doing with that cart. As a kid I had a job in Coney Island fixing the go carts. One thing. Don't you think you should have rebuilt the chassis and improve the brakes first? That predator engine it much more powerful than the 31/2 horse Briggs and Stratton. BIGGER BRAKES PLEASE.
So bummed you didn’t get the old briggs going. I was like oh sweet, he’s going to get that old engine going instead of just plopping a predator on there like everyone else. Literally the next sentence out of your mouth was parts are too expensive so I’m putting a predator on there. I don’t care for predators for that very reason. You could find parts for that Briggs at your local small engine shop junkyard for cheap.
lawnmowerdude not everyone has weeks of time to source questionable parts for a crappy 3hp motor. The cart would be pathetically slow with the original motor, and totally not worth the effort.
Fivespeed 302 weeks? Ebay is your friend. It all comes down to what you want. Some people want fast and easy and others want a challenge. It's their kart and they can do what they want. I personally don't like seeing old machines trashed without seeing if it salvageable. I thought that was the point of a restoration. But other than the new engine, they did a nice job of fixing up that old kart.
I have a Snowbird snowblower with the original Briggs on it from the late 1950's. Parts were not difficult at all to get and it has to have the original engine because the entire machine is geared for that specific motor from the factory.
i have the same style kart with an older 6.5 hp engine on it and it still drifts with snow tires, it's a fun fast little kart. (btw mine is not rusted out)
Have 2 of these with a Mobil body in white. Body is in good shape and has a rear wing.. motors need work but I'd like to upgrade to a high cc Honda motor. Good luck with the resto
gavin qualls You want to buy it? Lol idk man we always hang on to old engines in case we get another one in the future so we can compile all the good parts and make it one good engine
Build Break Repeat oh ok I understand, I'm the same way, also almost every Briggs engine is identical so you can find parts pretty easily. And good luck with the cart too.
I can't understand why your channel has minimal subscribers. You have great content. Your easy to understand, you show details to what your doing. We are able to see tje guys who's talking, not a annoying voice only by never seeing who it is. You dress in shorts and t-shirts, that gives a feel that you guys fit in with the average guy. Your filming is in no way over edited like some. I mean is RUclips's powers to be overlooking you guys ? Again your doing everything right. It has to change, I might ask You tube myself WHY. Until then keep up the great content. Take care.
Check out MAR-HYDE ONE STEP rust converter. It works! I've used it MANY times. It converts the existing SURFACE rust into a primer and you can then paint right over it.
SkyVenomMC honestly it just takes time to find one but try searching stuff like go cart (with a c and k) and like gokart, that's actually how we found this one lol.
The 60's go cart i had one of these that coco cola coke gave 5 of these away in the 80's it was a Dr Pepper indy go cart just like this one it had a 5hp motor on it drove it all around out neighbor hood in gulfport ms this one might be from the 60' but mine was from the 80's they both r the same
Hi you guys its Mike Roberts again. Rather than playing around with those four stroke utility motors that put out no horsepower. I was thinking that you may be able to get yourself a two stroke outboard motor. The cylinders are mounted on top of one another so you can still have the seat come back beside it. Not like those stupid multi cylinder motorcycle engines where the chassis has to be longer so you can place the motor behind the seat. You should be able to shorten the outboard drive shaft and turn it 90 degrees so it will be in the right position to accept a racing clutch and you can put the radiators on the opposite side of the seat. I believe most of them come with expansion chambers. And the best thing being is they all have their horsepower rating on the cowling. It would be a cool setup with say 30 HP. And i am sure they are cheap especially the old ones that are outdated and not used because of emissions. Just a thought.
Someone's math not right six flags did not open till 70s but it's still a cool cart to build looks like it's got engine mounts on both sides need to put two engines on it have double power double traction
Kool kart, nice project and good job so far! Being it has some history, think real hard about it before making drastic mods. And one more "old guy" safety thing. If you guys plan on going to go back to the parking lot, please close the tailgate on the truck. Dumb accident waiting to happen. I'd sound like a douche if I told you the story I lived.
Hey dude you seem to be on top of your game I like some of your videos but wanted to tell you to get you some knee pads 5-6 bucks at harbor freight save yourself I didn't now I'm paying for it and no one will do it for you just saying take care and we'll see you in the next video ps great channel thanks for the great videos
Predator predator predator I understand there an expensive but wouldn’t it be equally inexpensive if you got a second hand yz426f motor you know something Japanese and powerful I think if you mount it onto a cart you would fly after you gave it wings of course
Midnitejmpr Gaming Yeah it would have been cool, but we just didn't really have the time to do it in a weekend and make the vid, and a predator has double the Hp.
Chad Ellis Nah it's definitely a 60s kart, the lady we bought it from told us the whole history for it and even had a park map that the guy gave her with it from like 65. I see what you mean though, thanks for watching.
I'm in no way putting down the cart. Hell your video and your cart are kick ass. But... Google it. I'm not making it up. The body on that thing is styled after a formula one car. Formula one cars did not look like that until the 70s and 80s. Google 60s formula one car and see what they looked like. Maybe I'm wrong... but, pretty sure I'm not.
Chad Ellis Yeah you could be right now that I look at it, maybe it got a new body later on down the road, I'm going to contact the seller and see if I can find some original documentation to figure out for sure, pretty interesting tho.
What a neat piece of history
you guys are lucky as all hell none of you guys didn't get hurt or killed by leaving that key way in the shaft before starting it with nothing holding it on ;)
I remember dealers, tire shops, etc giving those away in raffles to get business coming in. Pained up like the Indy racers of the time. Always wanted one.

Awesome video man you deserve way more subscribers! Keep up the great content!
dude i live in DFW and i saw that indy cart sitting in the weeds. i really need too get on top of one. love the vintage karts
Pretty cool stuff. Are you gonna do a video on the restore? Or one after its done? Would like to see it finished.
That 3.5 hp Briggs & Stratton could still be used, they are very reliable and well built. I could get it going with some junkyard parts, I've rebuilt many of them.
I used to ride the go-carts at Six Flags. At 3 hp they weren't much at speed but they were fun.
That's really sweet, I'd paint it like the old Marlboro or the Pennzoil Indy car.
Jay P Yeah, I originally wanted to do like a gulf scheme but I think it would be cooler to model it after an actual Indy car, Pennzoil would be cool
I really enjoyed this video , keep them coming
you guys just started some thing! GOOOOOD
I need to get one of those engines
I love watching your videos and would love to see part 2 of the golf cart!
ooooh.... improvement time! give those steering kingpins about 12 degrees angled back, give it a live axle setup. like turning left: front right tire turns forward angling slightly UP (as left front turns back+down to press down to help lift), rear left tire (the one to the inside of the turn) lifts up 1/8" to 1/4", so you don't need a rear differential. being you've already slapped a 212 onto it, might as well make it handle more like a little racer. it may need a little more tubing added for rigidity, so it can do what I'm describing better, but after some fiberglass and paint work that little old toy could be pretty special.
model nutty Yeah that sounds pretty cool, I don't know if we're gona go with a live axle setup yet but we're gona consider it in the future.
wow your the WD/40 KING lmfao
"All it needed was some WD-40"
I smell a t-shirt!
Matt Hopper he should send this video to WD-40. Maybe get a spokesman job, lol.
Dip the entire kart in WD-40/PB Blaster 😂😂
King Maleek Lol basically what I did....
they sell it by the gallon XD
have one !
King Maleek WD 40 ITS ASS
Upgrade the chassis it will make it safer
Pretty good drifts for one wheel drive! Nice work.
Darwinpasta bro I'm subbed to your channel, your one funny guy lol...small world
Hey, thanks! I just discovered yours. I've gotta build a go-kart one of these days...
I did that and i got it running got a new formula one go cart body bolted that on put some new pedals on replaced the wheels.. it worked a treat till i crashed 😂
Beautiful
That go cart is just like mine
Need to do a shifter cart !
Dave Scheer haha yeah we've been searching for a salvaged motorcycle for a while. Really waiting to find a good deal before we get one though and some other projects need finishing lol
Man ive been waiting so long for that build!
Pitbike motors, man. Cheap and plentiful with a huge aftermarket support.
pffff 125 2stroke is what we need
Awesome kart man
Before you hack up the steering and body more first try adding an extension to the top of the steering column. I have a similar go kart and had to do the same thing. It was way easier to add the extension than basically re-doing the front end.
justice lee Yeah we were planning on doing something like that, thanks for the advice.
You guys are exciting, great find badass kart also that hard ass beat tho
I saw this ad on craigslist about a week ago
deadrcrepair that's honestly really cool
You need to paint it like Andy Granetelli's STP Indy car
william rcmt Dang that's a good idea, we were also considering doing a Martini or Gulf racing scheme (I really like the look of Gulf race cars)
And for the love of GOD and F1 fans like me. PLEASE keep it out of the hands of Pastor Maldonado!
Gulf cars are cool, but you have an indy car, don't think there was ever a gulf at indy. The STP cars ran for years however, and won. :)
william rcmt haha ok, we'll totally consider it.
Cooles video
You are AWSOME! I am trying to make a go cart out of a old lawn mower I found in the woods. It is a 5.6 hp. And I have no idea how to build one. Every thing needs a starting point.
I subbed because that old cart rips
Get a live axle on that kart and it will probably fly.

Awesome cart guys. Where did you find the bearings that you needed for the rear wheel?
Josh Fowler Tractor supply co.

I'm nine I like your channel I have the same engine on my go cart it's one wheel drive shaft soon it will be a 2 wheel drive
I also really loved your $50 go kart and think you should do more like that
agreed
XXXTentacion Lyrics Yeah don't worry we're in the process of building that go kart now, should be out with the video in a couple of weeks.
think the kart / body was originally mounted on a merry go round , it looks like they cut the whole back part off it
Nice job
Darryl carter thx
I liked what your doing with that cart.
As a kid I had a job in Coney Island fixing the go carts.
One thing.
Don't you think you should have rebuilt the chassis and improve the brakes first?
That predator engine it much more powerful than the 31/2 horse Briggs and Stratton.
BIGGER BRAKES PLEASE.
please make a video of how to make a cart from scratch
Cesar Gonzalez check out @colinfurze He made a video on how to make 1 without a welder or any fancy tools
So bummed you didn’t get the old briggs going. I was like oh sweet, he’s going to get that old engine going instead of just plopping a predator on there like everyone else. lawnmowerdude I purchased my son a nascar bodied kart and we kept the 3.5 HP briggs. Needed lots of TLC but does good now!
I have a Snowbird snowblower with the original Briggs on it from the late 1950's. Parts were not difficult at all to get and it has to have the original engine because the entire machine is geared for that specific motor from the factory.
WD-40.
The answer to ALL kart-related problems??
😂😂😂
Do you still have all the parts to the original engine?
Nick Roberts Yeah we always keep engine parts because you can almost always make a good one if you have the parts of at least 2
Cool
DO NOT cut that plastic body! try and patch!
Jonathan Burdette its fiberglass...
It's a 70s kart. You can tell by the body work style.
i have the same style kart with an older 6.5 hp engine on it and it still drifts with snow tires, it's a fun fast little kart. (btw mine is not rusted out)
This one on the vid has a fiberglass body. Doesn't rust, it decomposes.
Have 2 of these with a Mobil body in white. Body is in good shape and has a rear wing.. motors need work but I'd like to upgrade to a high cc Honda motor. Good luck with the resto
snowman90 cool, thanks
Subbed....good projects...🇬🇧
Subbed - do more kart vids!
Wow that's as old as me ffs & it looks like me too lol.
Did the predator engine come with a centrifucal clutch ?
1johnathan011 no it didn't, they are pretty cheap tho.
Build Break Repeat I'm wanting to build a drift trike and just surfing ideas, great videos!
What did you do with the old briggs engine? i would definitly want that as a project if you still have it!!
gavin qualls You want to buy it? Lol idk man we always hang on to old engines in case we get another one in the future so we can compile all the good parts and make it one good engine

Would be cool to see the frame acid dipped or something
Dude I wanna go cart and can't find a cheap one how would u recommend for me to build or get one I live in Corbin KY

Mike Roberts yeah I'll take a look at it, thanks for the advise.
Were did you get parts I have a similar go kart but myn has a wing and I can’t find parts any were that fit
Sketchy toads we are probably just going to make the parts we need, like for example we need a wing so we're probably just gona build a custom one.
myn came with a wing we have searched for parts and places were it came from and i see the thumbnail and i was like finally thanks for the info
What is the full name of the engine he used
Navesh Rock Harbor Freight Predator 212
Welp thought i was clicking on a carsandcameras video.....so.....ima just go now...
I started to buy this thing on offer up changed my mind now wish I would've bought it DAMN
dont beat the outer race of the bearing. use a small pipe to hit on the inner race if you must bash on it.
jason birch Yeah, we didn't have a pipe small enough, but we were able to heat the bearing so we didn't have to pound on it too hard.
Lol the go kart looks like f1 cars from 1970s to 1980s
Where do you get the predator motors at
Seth Mills Harbor Freight and $100
Davon Pettit thx
No problem
Someone's math not right six flags did not open till 70s but it's still a cool cart to build looks like it's got engine mounts on both sides need to put two engines on it have double power double traction
What gets more reliable than a Briggs and Stratton?
Zachary Stewart Not much lol, what I prob meant to say is that an old Briggs with hammered in valves is less reliable than a predator haha.
Build Break Repeat 😂true
Kool kart, nice project and good job so far! Being it has some history, think real hard about it before making drastic mods. And one more "old guy" safety thing. If you guys plan on going to go back to the parking lot, please close the tailgate on the truck. Dumb accident waiting to happen. I'd sound like a douche if I told you the story I lived.
AngryRed Banjo Lol ok, yeah we are planning on doing more of an original restoration now
My gokart is like a strange frame thing with a predator 212cc overhead valve hemi
Do you know any good go kart magazines
Dude i have a body for one of those i was just about to throw away! Do you need one ? Its really clean
garage grouch 302 Sick, where are you located?
Build Break Repeat Delaware if you want it and are willing to figure out shipping you can have it. I need room more than anything
garage grouch 302 Lol yeah I'm in Texas thanks for offering though, it will be cool to get this body nice again.
That's gonna be alot of fibreglass, if you wanna save some money because fiberglass is expensive try fiberglass cloth and resin then foam
ruclips.net/video/h_dNsl0Vry4/видео.html
Predator predator predator I understand there an expensive but wouldn’t it be equally inexpensive if you got a second hand yz426f motor you know something Japanese and powerful I think if you mount it onto a cart you would fly after you gave it wings of course
Alright so, every new shot starts with the same two words. Alright so, if you make it a drinking game, you'll die.
Gerald5000 Tru, I've got a habit of saying that on camera because it's just easy to start sentences that way. I'll work on some variety lol.
Is that in the Hill Valley Mall Marty?
Take a shot every time he says "Seized" or "WD-40"
Pablo Escobar 2 minutes in and I'm drunk lol.
right! lmao pin me please
Pablo Escobar I would die from alcohol poisoning.
Lol fr tho @Aaron Radd
I think that would be cooler if you got the old engine running again
Midnitejmpr Gaming Yeah it would have been cool, but we just didn't really have the time to do it in a weekend and make the vid, and a predator has double the Hp.
Build Break Repeat maybe in the future you guys can do a restoration on that motor
Add a rear wing, some side skirts and it's a F1 car from 1982.
Spookex yeah we're gona build a wing, should be pretty fun
I am on the "So" drinking game
SCORE!
Dude, I need you to teach me all you know about go karts, I'm in San Antonio
Put a live axle on it get a predator 212 stage 3 and put on a bigger steering angle on it
make jst one big support for the motor and the back of the frame so it doesnt look janky and it will help big time
Clean the flywheel with a dremil tool. It's worth fixing. I can get it running with no money in it.
Do you want to sell it Briggs
Get rid of the governor , it'll be a hundred times more fun
You should put live axl on it
I tell this to everyone who uses WD-40. WD-40 makes Metal rust the best thing to use is 3-one
3-one Oil is cheap and they sell it at harbor freight and pretty much everywhere.
They werent joking 60s f1 cars are oversized gokarts
Pretty sure that body is a 70s and early 80s style formula one body... not a 1960s formula one.
Maybe I'm wrong... but, pretty sure I'm not.
not 60's..70's 80's for sure they never had fiberglass bodys like those in those days. look up fke karts
Chad Ellis Yeah you could be right now that I look at it, maybe it got a new body later on down the road, I'm going to contact the seller and see if I can find some original documentation to figure out for sure, pretty interesting tho.
$99.99 for that new engine? Holy shit, that's cheap.
Do something with the old Flathead
And how much are they
i want see it new O_O, i need biger engine for my cross pocket bike build
dont cut it up make a mold of it and make it bigger
