Here's an abbreviated version of Ren's story from what I understand. About 12-13 years ago, when Ren was in his late teens and early 20s, he had a very promising music career with a band called Trick the Fox. He got really sick, and no one knew what was wrong with him. The doctors diagnosed him with mental conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome and other stuff, and kept giving him meds to treat mental issues. Except he didn't really have mental issues, he had Lyme Disease, an infection caused by a tick bite. He went YEARS before he was correctly diagnosed, so in the meantime, the combination of the mental health meds he didn't really need, and the untreated infection, both his body and mind were absolutely wrecked. Dude spent years in bed with no answers. Back in 2017 or so he finally got the right diagnosis and got treatments that worked, and he was able to restart his music career. Unfortunately due to the seven years of hell he went through, his health is still messed up, so he's currently in Canada receiving specialized treatments for about a year or so while he's also putting the finishing touches on his second solo album, which is due to come out in October.
I'll add to that he had a VERY successful ' GO FUND ME ' that raised the money he needed for travel lodging and medical costs in Canada ... SO MANY people around the world care about him and his talent .... I searched and it looks like he took it down ... ~ No need for it UP as he far surpassed his goal ...

Thanks for the summary but ME/CFS is not a mental illness. It involves brain dysfunction as far as the brain is part of the rest of the body. It can be caused by Lyme disease and many other insults to the body, There is no cure, only some treatment for the symptoms. I just wanted to clear that common misconception up. ❤
Ren isn't schyzophrenic. Because Ren has Lymes Disease, but got incorrectly diagnosed with other mental illnesses, they kept prescribing him medications that he didn't need and those medications damaged his brain and made him have psychotic episodes and have him hear voices. So that sort of refers to the voices in Hi Ren. But the personalities fighting in Hi Ren also represents the fight with your subconscious that we all have, that inner voice telling us we are not good enough or we cannot achieve anything, we cannot overcome difficulties etc. Or at least thats what I think.
While Ren hasn't got multiple personalities, Hi Ren showed you how quickly he can get into character and switch character. His masterly storytelling "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" (full 13 min version) will show you once more. But they are horrendously sad stories.

I can really relate to this song too, I was misdiagnosed for four and a half years before I had my surgery that saved my life. At one point I even gave up inside and signed all the paperwork stating I was fully aware that I would die without medical treatment and I was okay with that at 19 years old. In a few years after my surgery I found out that I've been on anti-depressants for almost 20 years and I'm not supposed to have them that's why I've kept ended up in the hospital on suicide watch or admitted for an attempt cuz I'm not I can't take things with serotonin in it because of a genetic mutation I got worse 95% of the time and when it did make me worse it just didn't help at all. And instead of giving me a one-time test that will tell the doctor's why these antidepressants weren't working they just kept trying me on different medications before I quit taking them all together I had tried everything available on the market name-brand and generic. After years of going to the doctor in trying to get help over and over again it took my husband and his knowledge of medications due to a prior addiction that he's been sober from for over a decade now and 5 yrs of trial and error we now know more about what I can and can't take and it work than 20 yrs of going to hundreds of medical pros. Our Healthcare Systems seriously f***** up

Great reaction, and exactly how I feel about Ren's music. Others have probably mentioned this, but besides having Lyme disease, he was also diagnosed with ADHD when he was younger. I'm also "neurodivergent," but with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and have been treated for depression, so I relate 100% to Ren's music. Yeah, the Ren rabbit hole is vast and goes off in all directions, both dark and lighthearted, so there's a lot to explore.
I know it's maybe too personal, but it is helpful for others going through similar experiences to hear someone else share about what's going on. This is a big part of what has made Ren hit so hard for so many people. Hope you get your meds sorted & feel better, man.

Some of the worlds greatest minds were neurodiverse and thought differently. The world isn't looking to great, maybe it could do with a different way of thinking.

I have adhd as well! Never could sleep 8 hours like a normal person. But tired all the time. I can fall asleep anywhere anytime. But just for a short time. I fell asleep at a red light once. Thought it was time to see a specialist. I did a sleep study and found out I had narcolepsy. It's a chemical imbalance just like adhd and in the same part of the brain. Going without sleep will make u crazy. Ask for a sleep study. Try 20mgs of melatonin before bed .Helps me
You sound just like RDiss he don't sleep well at all he wakes up from what it seems like right before a Rem cycle is when he wakes up.. Love your Ren reactions. If you're having issues sleeping (overactive mind etc) then if you haven't yet, you should really try smoking/vaping some pure CBD weed before bedtime. Works differently for different people but it's a nice alternative to meds that have all kinds of other side effects. GL

5 years on concerta, it's worked amazing for me... but they really don't know what's going to work on anyone. The insomnia though... I had a method that worked for a while, but it required too much structure - something those of us with ADHD are just amazing at right?
Pills may help a few or some, but I strongly believe that the majority of us have the inner streght to help our selfs better than a pill. I do understsnd that it helps some times
Okay man, sorry for spamming the comments - but I got diagnosed 5 years ago (I turn 50 in around two months). The meds, if you find ones that work, help a lot, but they don't fix you. They don't make your executive function suddenly all there. That takes time, therapy (with someone who knows ADHD, if you get therapy from someone who doesn't deal with it, it might actually be worse than nothing). I so feel for you man! It's so damned hard... reach out if you ever want an ear (don't know how long it's been since you got diagnosed, or if it's an older thing that you are finally trying to treat) anyway, I spent my whole life being the guy who doesn't cry, and Ren videos keep making me break down...

My thought process is scrambled cuz I’m on go on the time even when I’m supposed to be sleeping I go to the gym exhausted but still have the energy to lift like I slept the entire night when in reality I only get 4 hours and when I finally hit realm my alarm goes off witch contributes to my chaotic nature. Adderal is a very old form of ADHD treatment, there are much better, more modern meds. I personally am on Vyvanse, which is a single amphetamine. I has worked extremely well for me. But results will vary. My second channel Engineering ADHD is rebooting soon, if you want more information.

I was unsure if you were being genuine in your reactions before. I was being judgy. Respect to you for opening up about your struggle with the BS medication process you are going through. I am 48 and went through that process and meds never worked for me. They only made me think dark shit, like taking my own life and became very numb. Zombie like. The meds changed me and fucked with my memory. I will tell you as you get older your ADHD gets easier. I recommend finding something besides meds to cope with it. Natural stuff. Melatonin worked to help me sleep and slow my mind down. # minute meditations helps me to slow down before sleeping or dealing with people. I hope you find releif. It hits the feels of anyone dealing with doctors and mental health I have been on 10 different medications and nothing so has worked
I have adhd as well! Never could sleep 8 hours like a normal person. But tired all the time. I can fall asleep anywhere anytime. But just for a short time. I fell asleep at a red light once. Thought it was time to see a specialist. I did a sleep study and found out I had narcolepsy. It's a chemical imbalance just like adhd and in the same part of the brain. Going without sleep will make u crazy. Ask for a sleep study. Try 20mgs of melatonin before bed .Helps me
You sound just like RDiss he don't sleep well at all he wakes up from what it seems like right before a Rem cycle is when he wakes up.. I will definitely try to see if melatonin works because his meds that got prescribed don't really work well so that will be a good thing to try.. Thanks for your insight it means a lot ❤

Love your Ren reactions. If you're having issues sleeping (overactive mind etc) then if you haven't yet, you should really try smoking/vaping some pure CBD weed before bedtime. Works differently for different people but it's a nice alternative to meds that have all kinds of other side effects. GL

Not too personal. It is really good to l hear what you’ve been through cause so many people feel this too. Try diazepam. Song by ren not the drug lol.
5 years on concerta, it's worked amazing for me... but they really don't know what's going to work on anyone. The insomnia though... I had a method that worked for a while, but it required too much structure - something those of us with ADHD are just amazing at right?

Okay man, sorry for spamming the comments - but I got diagnosed 5 years ago (I turn 50 in around two months). The meds, if you find ones that work, help a lot, but they don't fix you. They don't make your executive function suddenly all there. That takes time, therapy (with someone who knows ADHD, if you get therapy from someone who doesn't deal with it, it might actually be worse than nothing).
I so feel for you man! It's so damned hard... reach out if you ever want an ear (don't know how long it's been since you got diagnosed, or if it's an older thing that you are finally trying to treat) anyway, I spent my whole life being the guy who doesn't cry, and Ren videos keep making me break down...

My adhd is since adolescence it just got really bad I have very uncontrollable hyper outburst so it started affecting my job. My thought process is scrambled cuz I’m on go on the time even when I’m supposed to be sleeping I go to the gym exhausted but still have the energy to lift like I slept the entire night when in reality I only get 4 hours and when I finally hit realm my alarm goes off witch contributes to my chaotic nature. Adderal is a very old form of ADHD treatment, there are much better, more modern meds. I personally am on Vyvanse, which is a single amphetamine. I has worked extremely well for me. But results will vary. My second channel Engineering ADHD is rebooting soon, if you want more information.

ADHD I got it bad & I’m 63. Meditation and breathing exercises help me sleep
I was unsure if you were being genuine in your reactions before. I was being judgy. Respect to you for opening up about your struggle with the BS medication process you are going through. I am 48 and went through that process and meds never worked for me. They only made me think dark shit, like taking my own life and became very numb. Zombie like. The meds changed me and fucked with my memory. I will tell you as you get older your ADHD gets easier. I recommend finding something besides meds to cope with it. Natural stuff. Melatonin worked to help me sleep and slow my mind down. # minute meditations helps me to slow down before sleeping or dealing with people. I hope you find releif. You said something so important. Everyone is so afraid of getting canceled that they apologize for everything. If you say something, stand behind it. If you hurt someone's feelings, so what. They can go cry in the shower the way did 30 years when some girl/boy broke out hearts. MAN the F up. Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get the F over it.
Have you tried sleeping pills the OTC kind? It helps me. If I don't take them I'm tossing and turning for 3 hours before I can fall asleep
