Great Memorable Days, This Function Was Happened In Hotel Sindoori Chennai ( Now Apollo Hospital Extn ) . On That Time I Was Working As A Waiter On This Function. Great Salute To Mr A R Rahman Sir.

I use to follow Manirathnam and Ilayaraja (IR) combination a lot, all their collaboration turned to be super hits. They both are inseparable and no one thought that Dhalapathi was going to be their last movie working together.
Going back to 1992, it was 2nd day of Roja's release and the initial days no crowds in theaters, hardly you found 30~40 people (only for first few weeks and later on turned to be a crowd puller), since Arvindswamy was not a big hero that time only his 2nd movie and off course not much expectation on him. I was in the theater thinking only of Mani & IR combo, the title was going on and all of sudden shock to see the music director name as "A R Rahman". I was saying to myself "come on what is this, why Rahman... not heard of him, seems to be a 60+ years aged music director, probably having a big beard, maybe from Bombay (that time it was called so)". I thought he is definitely going to screwup the music. After watching the movie, he proved me completely wrong.
So, seeing his name first time on the screen I thought of an aged person, after watching the movie concluded still a good music director, wonder how many Tamil movies he is going to score before moving to native Bombay and finally how he looks?
In later months I have seen only surprises... all are quite opposite.
We are all gifted to have ARR, the kind of music he rendered during the 90's and 2000's are ahead of time suppose to have them now. Great.

Still remember the times when i was travelling to daily for a computer course in 1992 , i used to cross pondy bazar and the speakers there would sound his chinna chinna aasai song...i had many North Indian friends then they too in chaste Thamizh would sing the song....sensational

I was 3 years old when this album got released. My mom said, I had cried adamantly asking my parents to buy this cassette. I had listened to this songs at neighbour’s place and stared crying for the cassette. ARR fan since then. This incident must be few weeks after this audio launch. Proud to be ARR’s fan even before knowing who I’m and who ARR is.

those days audio release was so simple. for the kind of music in roja it should been much grandeur launch.
2 reasons made me love him to the maximum. First is his magical music and second he is so humble wherever he goes. The only a man without haters!
