As a kid who's native language was not English and didn't know a word in it, and didn't even know there was a genre called hiphop, what Knox said was true. The first rap song I ever heard on tv was Real Slim Shady when I was in 7th grade because it was the first massive worldwide rap hit. When I saw the video I got hypnotized by him and I wanted to understand what he's saying so bad. I started learning English at home because I went to government school, then discovered d12, then learned that 2 legends called biggie and pac existed, and here I am at 32 years old watching rap breakdowns on this channel all thanks to the goat Em. His impact is still so underrated.

That’s the power of art, especially when it’s in the hands of a master. That little spark that draws you in, a catchy chorus stuck in your head, a book you can’t put down, a painting you can’t stop thinking about. You don’t necessarily need to know the words to the song, because the rhythms are still there. Art that makes people feel has caused social changes, helped topple governments, and can give a shared experience to people on the opposite sides of the earth even if they’ve never physically met. It’s crazy how powerful art can be, both for good and for Ill.

Came to love absolute lyricism like Nas, Big Pun, Andre 3000, all thanks to one song I heard on the tube called Rap God. Came to respect the culture and recognize the struggles on the other side of the world.

I got into literature because of Em .. Em has even impacted on how people think and fight for Freedom of Speech.. he’s not just Bars he’s a real person .. a real artist.. and that’s exactly what Hip Hop was about since the beginning.. about real life and expression of self

Eminem is at least in my Top 3 and he‘s a lyrical beast holding a position no one ever could reach. But he got you into literature? But maybe you’re right when I think about it. I think eminem ended the cold war by defining the theory of general relativity from a quantum mechanics perspective. Eminem may also found out and translated the human dna. I think I‘ve read it in an article that he gains his powers from the energy of the sun. Did he not write the new Marshall Matthews version of the bible?

It was so deep and it's like a movie. That changed everything for me. I discovered a lot of hip-hip artists. I usually listen to underground and alternative rappers like Eyedea, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock nowadays but I am always thankful and grateful to Eminem for making me hooked onto the Hip-Hop.

‘Em is married to the game and is so faithful. He truly loves hiphop and it has shown since day one. I’ll never forget when L L Cool J was doing an interview with Sway and Em called in as “Jason in Miami” to Stan L L back in the day. They hadn’t met yet and Marshall was a total giddy fanboy! He wears old school hip hop T-shirt’s instead of designer threads, knowing that he is giving shine to those artists because so many people will see him. He shows so much respect, he never even wore a rope chain until L L gave him one. This little mumble rappers out here don’t care about hiphop, don’t care about the culture of it or actively try to make it better. Even Shade 45 is historic first huge satellite radio station devoted to the love of hiphop. He gathered up the best voices like Sway and put them all in one place. Shady records gives artists the opportunity to reach new audiences. Some artists featured on 8 miles soundtrack were asked how they felt about it etc and they have been able to have some security, buy a house and work on their craft just due to royalties from those features.

The introduction to me of rap was actually Run DMC/Aerosmith Walk This Way. Then shortly following into NWA, Dre, and Snoop Dogg, and Tupac. This brought me into the rap world. Eminem came after. (Yup that old)
    BUT.........
One cannot, CANNOT deny the impact of Eminem into the world wide stage for the genre. You just cannot deny that. Seeing comments from across the world from other countries being introduced to rap because of Eminem.

Being a old head, while Eminem absolutely had gigantic impacts, Beastie Boys, and one of the original members who helped start Def Jam Records who turned on the lights for countless entertainers, arguably had the most impact crossing the gap to white suburbia. White entertainers have been involved in rap since I was a kid. 3rd bass's member Mc Search also turned on the light to NAS and .... made sure he was paid right.

Ugh I love Mike Shinoda he is so underrated with his "Fort Minor" and then "Post Traumatic" that he created after losing Chester as his way to work through his grief process. He did so much with "Linkin Park" he can do just about anything he is truly a gifted artist!
Mike (Rap, 2nd vocalist, Keyboard, piano, 2nd guitarist)/Brad Delson (lead guitarist) they produced the music for LP, Mike/Chester Bennington (lead singer) wrote the songs and then Brad got more involved with the writing in their last album, Mike/Joe Hahn (Disc jockey/sampler) came up with art ideas for their albums, Joe also directed majority of their music videos, Mike/Joe came up with set designs/visuals on how they wanted the stages to be on tour, Mike also did the band merchandise and created their web design. If you love Mike Shinoda and Busta Rhymes if you haven't already you HAVE TO check out Busta music video called "We Made It" featuring with Mike and Chester. It's a really positive uplifting song about lifting each other up and helping each other to get to the finish line. Also watch the behind the scenes of that music video as well.
      - Now Mike is doing his thing with music and collaborating/producing with other artists. He also co-wrote/produced a track with Demi Lovato "Still Alive" and his song that he made "In my Head" ft. Kailee Morgue both songs ended up being soundtracks for Scream 6.

That’s the difference between appreciation and appropriation. We always talk about Eminem being a guest in hip hop, which he very much is and will admit to but what he has done with his success is good. He grew up in a black community, he worked with black artists, he never stole any lyrics or music, he always gives appreciation and credit to black hip hop artists that started the genre, he recognises his privilege as a white rapper and attributes some of his popularity to that but he also gave access to his friends back in Detroit (D12) to the studio and so many other black artist access to the studio.

Yup, he’d be great to have a drink with, and the stories he could tell…Love the way he understands he owes gratitude to others like 50 Cent for some of his success, and he doesn’t allow jealousy to cloud his thinking. Plus, in the same interview he talks about rappers being killed (RIP Pat Stay and all the others), a serious issue that needs more exposure.

The intensity of making money. But respect isn’t given it’s earned. The ones that have stuck through and through deserve the earned respect. The end. The sad part is I understand that the game had beef with 50 because 50 made him better I don't know what the beef was over but I seen interviews where 50 says if I could help someone I would and he was talking about the game. No you got a situation with a game can do the right thing is apologize to the one man who did nothing to him Eminem but he won't just like he did in those interviews he will double down and stick to his story and he is mad about the Super Bowl but that wasn't Eminem's call that was Dr Dre's called Dr Dre could have said no and they keep saying it was a West Coast thing yes I understand that so why is the game putting it on Eminem why didn't you make a diss track towards Dre we all know because he needed the clout to sell his albums but when you do evil things like that your album ends up flopping he was better off doing what Tony Yayo saying like he said we don't even have to talk let's just do business but instead his pride is in the way well when you let Pride run your life see what happens sometimes you have to have humility. Mia and say sorry to the man that did nothing to you he's an asshole he ain't going to do it

The first song i remember hearing was Cassidys Aim for the Head (Ironically featuring the Game)on my Dell DJ Ditty that i had downloaded through limewire. Which then introduced me to Game, then 50 (Which those 2 became 2 of my favorite artists in the early to late 2000s, then that introduced me to Em, Jay, Wayne, etc.

if it wasn't for Em i woud not know Rakim, 2PAC, Andre 3K, NAS, Kxng Crooked, Biggie, Royce, Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf, Kendrick, GRIP, Conway the Machine... i mean... the list goes on.... Thank you Em!

@@WeBombFirstumm sorry no not just the "white folks" how about all over the world in different countries that didn't know much about hip-hop. Because of Em, he turned hip-hop/rap that was made of black culture into a multiracial culture. He uses his global platform constantly paying homage to soo many artists that were his influences and respects so people around the world can know them too. He inspires other people of colors and backgrounds of wanting to become artists themselves. He made people open their eyes to realize that blacks were NOT the only race who had struggles in life, every shape and color had their struggles too. Eminem brought every race together to make known that everyone struggles with life like poverty, prejudice, race, politics, death, gun violence, abusive households, young parents trying to support their kids, the anger that people build inside themselves, depression, substance abuse, toxic relationships, not giving up no matter how many people try to knock you down, having passion and using that passion as a outlet, looking for inspiration, the love you have for your kids and would do anything for, being unapologetic for who you are but can still apologize and admit when you are wrong, no matter how far you go with your success you never forget where you came from or forget who helped you get there since the beginning and believed in you that you could succeed and pushed you to reach your potential greatness, always paying it forwards to give others chances just like when someone gave you one, and not always having to take life TOO seriously and can still have fun and joke with it. His controversial topics makes conversations happen that people are too scared to talk about. He doesn't care about the backlash that he gets from the media just as long the important conversations are happening with the people that are wanting to make a change.

6:44 short of an Em verse, words can't describe what Em's music has done for me. I used to trash kids back in high school because they listened to rap music. If only then what I knew now about the schism in hip hop and the distinction between mumble rap and the real shit (lyricism) I would have held my tongue. Em has saved me and continues to in the sketchy living environment I'm in. I've started listening to Kanye, Biggie, 2Pac, fucking Easy E all because I heard Homicide that one time. That's all it took, now I'm hooked for life. Right now I usually got Oh No or Lock it Up on repeat for hours at a time. Side note: do you think that Paak Anderson renegaded Em with that opening verse, that shit hits so hard, not to disrespect the GOAT. Credit goes to you too Hill, you've taken something I identify with myself and helped me develop it and understand it to a level I didn't realize possible. Thank you.

Eminem needs no introduction since Eminem blew up in this Hip Hop game he has done nothing but giving us his very best because he knew being a white man in hip hop you couldn't do it half ass so he did it three times better than most artist and I'm going to say it Eminem is a mega star this man can't even leave his home without security yes he cannot because people would attack him, literally now Eminem is brought up all the time on you to buy other artists whether it be good or whether it be bad and the good that I hear is from MC's that respect another MC they're not looking at the color of his skin then you have the so-called people that have really no say in hip hop like that kid called most what is he and what does he do for hip hop but yet he had so much to say about Eminem because he is white and he literally said that Eminem was taking up space that made me laugh so hard what space, now let's just forget about him because he's not even relevant at all very minor. What Eminem has done for this culture is when he landed he was so different he said things that nobody else was saying he never claimed to be a gangster so he had to rap about his life and by him doing that he opened the eyes of so many Suburban kids that were going through that in a different way he broke through Europe Asia Australia Africa name a continent and then name Eminem in that continent and I bet you everyone knows him that's what Eminem has done for hip hop he brought in the horizon to the point that hip hop is a culture and people are learning through Eminem because he always pays homage to older rappers so through him they are learning about the giraffes the noses even Jay Z maybe rappers that they wouldn't have looked up Special Ed I can keep going on how much homage Eminem has paid to Hip Hop and the reason why people don't like him is for the same reason that we got put down for and that's what kills me the most is pigmentation you're going to judge somebody when we got judged our whole lives how can you and especially for somebody who's never been prejudiced I really heard a Prejudice thing come out of his mouth what once he said something out of Madness why you never called somebody a honky you never called this guy a cracker oh that's okay though no it isn't Eminem I think brings Unity to Hip Hop and he is the best hip hop artist to ever grace the Mike. Mia forget about all that color shit it's a culture not a color remember that and look at me I'm not white.

@4:38 I don’t think Jay was at his top during Renegade, I have heard that’s way he wanted to partner with Em because HE was in his prime. Jay was loosing numbers. 💯 That’s not a diss at Jay, still a GOAT, but I feel like Jay went more the 50 route - business man. Eminem has always been an artist, never liked the business aspect. The same can be said about Dre. 50 even talks about this in interviews, Eminem never liked the business.
Edit: Almost every rapper wanted an Em feature…they still do. That’s why I don’t believe the “Royce only could do 1 song on another label” when Renegade got handed over to Jay. No record label would not want a feature with Eminem, regardless of contract issues, because his features always topped the charts. If this is really true, then Royce’s record label at the time messed up big time. I think Jay wanted it to revive his career on Blueprint - and made 2 more Blueprint albums based on the success of the first. I definitely believe this was Eminem’s doing on Renegade and solidified the Blueprint “saga.”
Edit edit: I’ll even go as far to say Eminem removed (Mickey Factz diss) Royce off of it, not because of Jay, but because of the D12 diss Royce dropped during the same time period.

Hip hop is a culture it is not a race one thing I will say is since Eminem landed It took off in hip hop he has done nothing but given his all even when he was doing drugs let's just tell the truth he still was putting out Studio albums. That's all I'm going to say about those four years of his life that he was addicted to drugs. Now when Eminem came back in the game it was like he never even left because because Eminem was still on top Eminem has given so much to Hip Hop for them to not like him just because he's white is the most disturbing thing that I hear when I hear my people and sometimes I'm embarrassed because we've been through it so why would you do that to somebody who supports and loves this culture and he shows it in every album and everything that he does forget about Renegade that was just one feature this man for 25 plus years has been everything to Hip Hop he literally saved hip hop from Mumble rap,, that's my opinion or else we'd still be hearing these stupid non Lyricist and I'm not talking about the Mumble rappers who do have some lyricism I'm talking about the ones that would just horrible and you know what I'm talking about Eminem saved us from that literally cuz I didn't see anybody else pulling up to the plate and all the hate that he still gets is incredible and it's all over one thing pigmentation and you know something if it was the other way around the world would come to a halt okay but Eminem's push through all that he doesn't even care about the color of his skin because he knows who he is in his heart and who he is is the best hip hop artist to ever do it. My opinion I don't care what anybody else says and if you think you're going to find another M&M or a Slim Shady you're crazier than Slim Shady is LOL I had to say all this I don't care if people don't read it Mia

Renegade is a Bad Meets Evil record. Em does what he usually does on one of his own songs. Renegade may have been on The Blueprint, but make no mistake, Em wasn't the featured artist on it. He asked Royce if it was alright with him to give the song to Jay-Z. Em basically kept most of his that he originally wrote I think he only changed a couple of things. Then J rewrote what was originally supposed to be for Royce to make it sound more like him with his flow. I believe Em also produced the whole track.
