7:40. I wonder, if instead of "clear coating it," if you could just reglaze it? I've glazed a handful of items in school growing up, but I don't know if there is anything stopping you from applying a second glazing. It seems like that would be the optimal way to seal that in. Assuming double glazing is doable.
I am curious, Patrick, the tiles I purchased from Amazon do not have a shiny coating on them like your tiles. Can you still use dye on the tile if it doesn’t have a shiny coating? Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I have done something like this on a cleaned white tile with my 12W diode laser. I used a regular sharpie and then wiped with isopropyl alcohol. The color stayed in the engraved part but wiped off the surface good
Interesting video Patrick. I was looking at a UV laser for marking ceramic because it appears in some examples on youtube show it producing a black mark vs removing the glaze. There are a number of videos with ceramic insulators getting a light black mark. A few videos show a darker mark on a ceramic glazed plate. This would suggest you could get a range of values and do a photographic image in UV on Tile without any coloring. I'm curious have you tried getting a black mark on the unglazed back of the tile vs how it marks on the glazed side? Curious to understand if the black marks are a product of settings or something not clear in the other videos. I have this question out to Haotian directly but no response yet. Is you search for "uv laser ceramic " on RUclips you will see the shorts showing the process. Keen to get your take? I'd love to see a work up of settings showing the different marks at different settings. Keep up the great work! Here's the settings in one video that marked dark vs clear in yours (at MACTRONTECHLASER 5W UV Frequency 30KHz, Speed 1200mm/s, Hatch 0.04mm)
@@LSEngraving Its appreciated. Its certainly not explored yet on RUclips. I'm trying locally to find access to one but haven't had luck yet. Lots of fiber around though.
Okay, I subscribed, I liked, and I appreciate the content, but I have to ask, what on Earth is the weird, pretentious flag video about? I thought I had stumbled on some sort of fringe political site. Do you make flags, or is there some sort of flag related content on the channel? Just wondering, it is certainly a unique intro to your videos. Very...creative.
Thank you for sharing this with us Patrick.
You're welcome!

Thanks! I appreciate it!
Beautiful!
Why thank you.

hmmm, are they "sealed?" Can you put some dye/ink/etc on them and then wipe it off? if so, i'd say yes you can.
Those are really nice Patrick. Will it work with a diode laser?
i'm going to try and figure out a way.
Could this also be done with a diode 10 or 20 watt?
i'm going to try and see what happens.

ill have to run some material tests on blank tiles and see what i can come up with. thank you for the info and suggestions! Much appreciated!!

Hi Patrick, what size extraction hoses are you using on your fibre lasers? 80mm / 100mm
4in/100mm
@LSEngraving Thanks for the reply, Patrick

12:15. Buffing wheel?
did not use a buffing wheel.
@@LSEngraving I can see you didn't. I was asking if a buffing wheel could be used instead? If so, this could be a much faster and easier process.
