      I've seen vex commented saying that it's hard, and I beg to completely difer. It's easy af, selftaught by tutorials in a month. I'm not an expert and there's still a lot of importan things I don't know how to do, such as textures, but modelling is really intuitive and I've made some pretty realistic untextured human heads and characters. Just try it honestly, it's way more intuitive than you think, and it's free!

    • @edanlikesmovies8896
      @edanlikesmovies8896 2 года назад +5

      @@milinXD gonna wanna see some wireframe proof on that one. Creation of characters is literally one of the hardest if not the hardest thing you can do in 3D. Very doubtful that you learned how to create characters with good topology in just a month. It's something that takes most STUDENTS years to be able to do.

    As an aspiring animator, this just goes to show how much tedious and time-consuming ALL types of art is, and it really hits hard when the majority of the public has no idea of the exact long process and hard work to create their favourite movies and shows - but at the end result, it will greatly and beautifully pay off. Amazing work! 🖤

    very good and cute model but also this video has taught me more than literally any modelling tutorial has taught me. mostly because of the fact that the anatomy in all the tutorials was always so wildly different than my style's (especially the eyes.) and i had no clue how the hell to translate what they were doing into my own goals. watching this honestly has made me realize that even though i'm.. quite a beginner to blender, i was pretty much just. doing the exact same things you were.
    i didn't give up per se, but i certainly put down blender for later as i honestly felt as though i wasn't doing it right in some way and i was finding it impossible to find anyone who modelled in a way that was even remotely similar to what i was intending to do. so i just went. well. nobody is doing what /i/ want to do. why try?
    so. like! basically what i'm trying to say is uhhh explodes into confetti. THANK YOU for uploading this it helped me go ohhh i Can do it.. okay. okay neat! im going to watch this so many times in the future 👁👁

    • @sugoish9461
      @sugoish9461 2 года назад

      @AbsintheanCandle You've made games before?? That's so cool! What sort of games? I'm also curious to see!!
      But yes, thank you!! We together with some other friends run an art discord server (has about 300+ members or so right now, it's a really kind and safe environment! We sort of built it up from the ground very recently as a replacement for our old art server that was all of us' safe place, after the immature server owner deleted it on a whim - it was a pretty dramatic situation), and so we sort of plan on having a "collect candies to get a lil spooky character" reward, but then we thought "But!! What if it wasn't just a few words of text in your server-currency-wallet to have as a collectible, but something that you could actually customize, to really make it _yours_ and make you feel more attached to it?"
      So! We're making a little character creator/dress-up-like game as the reward, where you can design your own cute little ghost creature from over a 100 separate parts to combine etc! It's all very much a hobby project from us, but hopefully it will be a fun little surprise for the server members when they find out about it! We have an intro scene introducing the new second server mascot and everything through this game.
      We really like spoiling the server members for milestones, it's a ton of fun! And honestly, through this we've realized that making small games like this is super rewarding and exciting! So we're already thinking up ideas for more games after this. :D I would tell you the server name, but this is confidential info right now until the event launch! Only the staff know about this until the event launches haha, but ofc if you want to join the server you'd be more than welcome to! (I.... Might just have to wait until the event starts to let you in lol, sorry for that! But also - ofc, no pressure that you need to join if you don't feel like it! No worries either way :D)
      Either way, if you don't want to join I could probably upload the game online somewhere if you want to see it then! Good luck with your modelling and you art projects too!! ((also oops just realized how much I wrote!! pshshs sorry, hope it's okay to read!))

      Something people should do more than following a rigid tutorial. Watch loosey goosey videos of people making things and observe. Learning the workflow and learning that things are dynamic. Learn that the first minute or two of setting things up would remain relatively the same, but everything else would be different from most models. Most tutorial videos have the mistakes cut out so they can show the "expected result" rather than the path and the mistakes made

    Hey! sorry to bombard you with questions, but WOAH, this model is so pretty!!!
    I’ve been trying to get into 3D modeling recently, using Blender, and I have a few things I wanted to ask
    1. How do you import 2D images into blender…?
    2. What tools are you using to… Yknow, make the model? I noticed things like extrude and everything, but I’m not sure how you’re making new segments in parts you’ve already made, and such?
    3. What shape are you used to start things like the tufts of fur on the side of the face?

    • @2.7182e
      @2.7182e 2 года назад +36

      Random internet person here, with some hopefully helpful answers.
      1. You can add images through Shift+A, Image, Reference
      2. If by "new segments" you mean the edges/vertices they add to faces that's a loop cut (ctrl+r), or the new faces they add between faces, which is selecting 4 vertices and clicking f to make a face. Apart from that it looks like they mainly use extrusion, scaling, moving, adding faces, mirror modifier, etc.
      3. Looks like they added a circle (new mesh) and in the mesh options (small box that's in bottom left corner when you first add a mesh) they lowered the vertices to 8 and extruded+scaled it into tufts. (Hit M at point to merge all vertices into 1 vertex)
      Hope that helps, and good luck!

    • @2.7182e
      @2.7182e 2 года назад +11

      Right, should probably mention they duplicate the tuft (select it all with a or L, then) shift D to duplicate, move them into the right place, merge 2 vertices when tufts are next to each other, and extrude to make it touch the body.

    Small things like not tackling the mouth at the beginning are dwarfed by your incredible modeling skills and how professional the rest of the process was. Such a cute character brought into a new dimension, and so artfully done, too.
    Love the music selection, as well! I will definitely be keeping up with your future endeavors, artisan.

    I love watching speed modelling videos, and this is no exception! Keep doing what you love!!!

    seeing how you do the hair tips and fingers first and then work them into the larger body looks like a really neat trick! working the other way has always been a pain but i've never thought of doing it tip first AFTER i've got a wrist.
