When pro kayaker Rafa Ortiz decides to follow his dream to paddle over Niagara Falls, he sets in motion an incredible series of events that eventually takes on a life of its own. To prepare for this mission, Rafa enlists the help of world-renowned paddler Rush Sturges and a tight team of their friends. Together they go on a remarkable three-year journey from the rainforest rivers of Mexico to the towering waterfalls of the U.S. Northwest.

I paid for it and found it well worth it. The whole process is well filmed and inspirational. The ending is the logical outcome of a group of people putting so much thought, skill and professionalism into this endeavor. I can't understand the people that don't understand that the journey is the process not the goal.
Who cares if he bails? Haven't seen the flick, but Rafa is most certainly the most talented kayaker I've ever been lucky enough to paddle with and I'm sure he was fully committed. I'm sure this was no gimmic.
But he didn't do it so..
For everyone who is a little disappointed he bailed, he kayaked a waterfall 30 feet taller than Niagara. He obviously just didn't think they could pull it all off and decided better safe than sorry.
Yes, The problem with Niagara isn't the height but the large jagged rocks at the bottom
@@ednakelley814 yep and I think the far river left side of the waterfall is clear of rocks, but recirculates pretty heavy from what I've heard.
This video is well worth seeing the falls that were made. The rocks at the bottom are what give me the biggest pause, but even without them the force of water could force you under longer than you could hold your breath and could easily break your neck.

I'm a Niagaran. The Niagara River and the Niagara Rapids are not to be played with. I understand they are professionals BUT still, his chances of surivival would be very small indeed. Too many foolish tourists and foolish dardevils end up dead.

Isn't this illegal? The Niagara Parks Commission prohibits stunting on all of its properties under the authority granted under Regulations of the Niagara Parks Act. Stunting now carries a maximum fine of $10,000....unless they're going to pay the fine.
Pretty sure he would've been banned from the US & Canada. But I'm sure he'd be alright living in Mexico. Amazing whitewater there.

This can't be done. One person already went over in a kayak. They never found his body! Get in your kayak and let your friends push you out of a 20 story building onto large rugged rocks below. That's the equivalent.
Just watched it. Disappointing. Should have given it a different title. If he'd actually run the falls it might have been worthy of the title 'chasing niagara'. This should be called 'nice kayaking with typical redbull cliched commentary', or 'Red Bull standard film format. Sport - kayaking'
Title is meant as more metaphorically, as in he succeeded mentally and found a place of satisfaction in his life.
