Thank you!!! I am "considering" auditioning for a local prod of LUTTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, I am going to research your suggestions bit before I stumbled across this I had in mind audtioining with " house of the rising sun" I can't even explain how I came up with this but I would be aiming for role of orin/dentist and am getting back into theater after 10+ years being out. What's your thoughts as to auditioning with a "non-musical" song for auditioning????

Hello!! It’s great jumping back into theatre! Orin is such a fun part! I think because it’s such a “character “ role with so many dynamics, like he’s abusive but his song ironically funny your song should represent that. Perhaps try a song with comedic timing or show different sides to you. House of the Rising Sun is a classic but I don’t think it would best be suited for this particular audition. Look to musicals that have a character that can show some range. Victor from Young Frankenstein, Beetlejuice, or Gomez from Addams Family…just some suggestions because they are “villainous”However, the two former are tenor parts. Orin is a baritone, but I don’t know your voice. Maybe several songs suit your range!😀Hope this was helpful, break a leg! Let me know if I can be of any more help. Thanks for watching.
