The convenience of having both hands free is pretty huge if you're on the road a lot of the time. When real weapons are really long like that, there was a tendency to tie a rope to two bits of it and use the remaining slack as a strap (which is the basic idea that became the two-point sling for rifles). Given the same added load over time, the arms tire much more easily than the back or shoulders do. Ideally, you have some sort of hauling medium like a horse or a caddy when the weapon isn't in use, and you just keep a sidearm on your belt. Carrying the weapon with one hand & leveraging it over the shoulder was something people resorted to while expecting combat, so that's more often seen on battlefield depictions. People expecting combat would also hold them like walking sticks, and so too would people standing still for a long time (like guards), since they didn't have to go around lifting the thing. A realistic staff is probably one with some sort of sling, scabbard, or loops to put it through & carry it with, but you could also give it telescoping action (so it can be held like a sidearm) or make it able to be disassembled (so it can be held like 2 or more sidearms).
@KazmirRunik In terms of fantasy aesthetic, a staff like that is held by someone who is typically not going to need both hands to fight because of their magical abilities. I think that a wizards staff would be light enough to carry and/or be used as a walking stick with no fear of fatigue. As someone who hikes and goes backpacking, I prefer to have a walking stick in my hand at all times, and very rarely feel the need to stow it away or put it down. Specifically im thinking of Gandalf who never felt the need to strap his staff on his back. I might be more receptive to doing that if there was an actual strap attached to the staff, and it didnt clip through a cloak which totally breaks my immersion in a game. Most people probably wouldn't care about that, but it distracts me if my weapons are phasing through my clothing.
You can turn off Auto-Sheathe in Dragon's Dogma 2 and the character will start using the staff as a walking stick when not in combat and you won't be targeted by the guards either.
That's a hell of a Vanguard - I usually run Sorcerer for myself, Mage for my Main Pawn and I hire on a Warrior and Assassin/Thief. They do well, but I was impressed at how well your Fighter & Warrior managed to keep the drake caged! Sometimes, I have to get more mobile and run around more than I'd like when annihilating the enemy ;D Still, though, you CANNOT beat the Pilfer ability filling your stores with valuable & rare materials!
The vanguard does so good when dealing with the big enemies. Using mage, warrior, and thief while you're a sorcerer results in some FAST kills, same can be said if you go as magick archer
Just hire two absolutely cracked out sorcerers with meteor and distract the dragon long enough for them to do their thing. But yeah this game is a lot of fun!
Dig what you dig. Different strokes for different folks. That sort of thing. When it's all said and done, I think every game ends up being the same repetitive motion no matter the genre.
That displays why Dogma 2's action bar is too small. This is a mage with knowledge of all manner of arcane trickery, and yet, he can only cast 2 types of spells because his other 2 slots are occupied by utility and an emote.
Sorcerer is boring. You only have to stand away waiting for your cast to finish and hoping it won't be interrupted. Rogue is fun, climbing enemies, high speed and damage
Nah i dont think so. Only used sorcerer to get the knockdown resist buff. Tryied using a socerer pawn and it was even worse: i was happy fighting some bandits and then my pawn absolutely obliterate it with meteoron or maelstrom
What I haven't shown is the amount of time I spent on wayfarer swapping between magic archer saggitate and sorcerer flare to deal silly amounts of damage
@@garbagecat944 that would be cool to see. I’ve had a go and it fades out too often for me. But I do really like the flare as it’s really powerful when it works out.. esp on a dragons heart
ЧТо именно это и бесит в новых играх - слоу мо, тряска, хуяска, перебор по анимациям, колхоз. Нету по настоящему вкусных и качественных анимаций без землетрясения камеры. Believe it or not, I really don’t like this class. It takes all the fun, and not to mention skill, out of the whole game. And it’s just so boring to use Meteor Storm and Maelstrom. Over and over again. And it’s so unbalanced. Even with the high cast times, I just can’t.
It’s pretty cool at first but then you realize all that’s happening is back to back meteron and maelstrom.
That’s kinda what I figured was about to happen 😂
I’ve always felt the variety was lacking, I was hoping we’d get to be a full on ice wizard if wanted but there aren’t enough spells
Just play wayfarer
I actually stopped playing after I played the sorcerer. I feel like mods will make it better but I LOVED playing as an archer.
@@Bigl1230xyeah archer is really fun but I feel like the need some kind of evasive skill.
magic in DD series has always been amazing. The scale and visual impact is simply second to none.
The poor dragon just wanted to live in peace... This annoying small bastards killed him, yeah...
To this day, I have not seen any other game with the same spell casting animation as Dragons Dogma.
Am I the only person in the world who hates how video games depict a staff being worn on the back when not in use? Just hold the damn thing!

I always liked the concept of summoning the staff and then unsummoning. Keeping a sceptre at the hip is reasonable too

Most people knew this the first week. I remember people talking about other vocations but this one easily cleared everything.
I wanna see a sorcerer build that doesn’t use these two spells
Play DDDA then. It has more spells. Especially High Gicel is amazing.
