Guy was a vocal coach teaching at various private schools in South Australia before winning Idol in 2003. He and his brothers grew up singing in church. I cannot find any reference to him working in construction but he may have in the past.
Guy also studied to be a Hospital Radiographer but also started writing his own songs and so gave it away to chase his dream To which we are forever grateful...lol

A little background info on Guy writing this song....His then manager was charged and convicted to embezzling nearly $1 mill from Guy over a period of many years. Guy & his family were devastated as he was a long time friend.
