Thank you very much, good work 👍
Take heed when Eloy says you'll want a fast USB key, even if it's a 3.0 USB key it doesn't mean it will be fast. Once you switch to persistent everything will slow down depending on the speed of the USB. I tried a 3.0 64GB key from Silicon Power first and while it's affordable it's not very fast, so I switched to my samsung BAR plus which is rated at 400MB/s and it should make a difference. Thanks for the tutorial Eloy!
big fan from KSA
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Thanks Mohammed!
Thank you very much! Very professional.
Glad you enjoyed it!
IL MIGLIORE, BEL VIDEO!!🤟👏

Thanks again for the video. I finally got it going, but my computer (4 GB of RAM) froze twice when I had the Workstation opened, with the Gateway minimized, during setup. I think you need a computer with at least 6 GB of RAM. "Mental Outlaw" did a similar video, and he ran some kind of test to determine RAM usage, and his test showed that a little over 6 GB of RAM was used.
Thanks much for a great video! The next step is to use whole disk encryption on the USB key - there is a RUclips video on how to do that.
what are the advantages compared to built in encrypted persistent storage?
Hi fan from Brasil.🇧🇷
Hello, thank you
can you recommend a good way or tutorialon how to back up/clone the os as well as the encrypted persistent storage?
Virtual Box allows the user to reconnect to the internet after changing the MAC address, by toggling between NAT settings on the Network Adapter settings. Have you done a video on re-connecting to the internet after changing MAC adresses? Thanks.
Hey Knowledge Sharing Tech, can this process be done with an external hard drive with a dedicated partition instead of a USB?
does this also work with a debian live stick ? I get an error when i start up the workstation. something with grub and files missing.
I’ve installed the most recent Kali for usb on Rufus as described but when I reboot I get the grub prompt. Can you advise?
With this setup, I think you have Virtual Box inside Kali. Could you have Virtual Box inside Kali, to change the settings? I saw another video where this fellow was able to get the internet to connect after he changed the MAC address, by toggling the connection setting from NAT network, to NAT, and back to NAT network.
I guess the way to do that is to start with Ubuntu on a bootable USB, then install Virtiual Box inside Ubuntu, then install Kali inside Virtual Box
I got an error message when trying to import Whonix into Virtualbox. Do you have any ideas how to fix that? Thanks.
Hi, when i write commends in kali it doest Works, „ the commends doest found „ do you know what is Happend ?
Thanks for the video. Do you think this will work with a computer with only 4 MB of RAM? I think you mentioned that Qubes was a real "memory hog" in a different video. Is Kali Linux more memory-friendly? Thanks again.
I think you mean 4GB? Then, yes but do not give the GW more RAM as I show because you need to leave some Ram for Kali
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thanks very much. Sorry, yes I meant 4 GB.
Is whonix on USB better or tails??
Could you also put Tails inside Virtualbox, as you did with Whonix here, or is that not a good idea? Tails seems to start faster than Whonix, and I wasn't able to set up a Tor Bridge with Whonix. Thank you.
Yes you can, here's how: ruclips.net/video/ep69MyleDCo/видео.html
Hi, thanks again for the video. If I understand right, Kali Linux is running as a "live boot" - it has not been installed on the USB drive. Can live boot operating systems be upgraded to new versions? Or would I have to start all over again with the new version from the beginning? Please advise. Thanks.
Kali is running as a fully installed OS on the USB key. This is how i installed it: ruclips.net/video/yNhZ_6WiuDU/видео.html
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thank you! I will take a look.
Do you recommend using encrypted persistence?
Yes
Ho una domanda, ho 16GB di ram e un ryzen 5 , secondo te riesco a installare su whonix un ulteriore Virtual Machine per metterci WINDOWS?
Si
7:22 I see there is option for whonix on usb .... then why are we using kali and virtual box and then whonix ( am new , question might be not right)
The option you mention takes you to the instructions I am explaining in my video
Hi, I would like to update you on Whonix: instead of downloading the OVA file, the Whonix website now gives two commands to copy and paste into the Terminal. The end result is the same.
Thanks for the info
@@KnowledgeSharingTech my pleasure. Thank you for all your help.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech I'm sorry, but I blew it. I clicked on the Linux link on the Whonix site, when I should have clicked on the Virtualbox link. You still download the OVA file, and import it into Virtualbox, as you did here. . The problem I notice with setting up TOR on Whonix is that you can't set up a Tor Bridge without having to put in all this other information, which was too complex for me. You don't have to do that with Tails or the Tor Browser Bundle for other Linux distros. I have read different things that say that Whonix is in some ways no better than Tails or Tor Browser Bundle. Although it claiims it can resist more types of fingerprinting than Tails.
Hi, could you use a lighter-weight distro for the base OS, instead of Kali? On the Whonix website, they said to allocate 2 GB RAM for the base OS, 2 GB for the Gateway, and 4 GB for the Workstation. My computer has 8 GB of RAM, so I am thinking I might get better performance with an OS lighter than Kali. Thank you.
I didn't try it but I think it will work
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thank you. I will try it Lubuntu instead of Kali.
Can we use kali linux on the place of workstation of whonix????
You need to install it as a vm like this: ruclips.net/video/q7_Lu2OEois/видео.html
Hi
Great video. Thanks.
I am getting an error running the imported VMs in Virtualbox. "VT-x is not available. (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX).
In the settings of my (powered off) virtual machine in System -> Processor, the option "Enable Nested VT-x/AMD-V" was greyed out and I could not enable it.
To enable nested virtualisation I ran :
VBoxManage modifyvm Whonix-Gateway-XFCE --nested-hw-virt on
The option "Enable Nested VT-x/AMD-V" is now ticked... but I get the same error.
Any ideas.
Thanks in advance for any assistance. I'll keep googling...
Hi, enable virtualization in the BIOS of your PC
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thanks - will give it a go.
Hi....I mentioned Kodachi Linux to you, but on second thought, I think Kali Linux plus Virtual Box plus Whonix is the better way to go,. I have read some people express concerns about it. and the fact that there is only one developer also raises some concerns. However, I read that Kali Linux sometimes corrupts the host operating system. Do you have any thoughts on that? Thank you.
@EL MAGO Thanks for the warning!
Hello I’m getting an error importing whonix to vb
same wtf and he never answers smh
failed to import appliances on virtual box error please help me
It can be lack of available free storage
When typing in “$ sudo apt install virtual box” it says it cannot find the package for virtualbox. Any fix for this?
You need to put virtualbox without spaces
@@KnowledgeSharingTech I tried this and it still says it can’t find it.
Solved, as dumbpotato said, you should write "sudo apt update" and after this do the next
@@sexymommy667 still says unable to locate package.
how much storage do we need for this
64GB+
Can i do this without kali linux
Look at this: ruclips.net/video/y82TgJNivOI/видео.html
@@KnowledgeSharingTech Dear sir, I want to install whonix on my USB without kali Linux or a virtual box. is It possible
