Those mews houses in Kensington are a few million pounds. You'd be very fortunate to be able to buy (or even stay in one) especially considering that the national wage average is only £35k. Doctors wages are typically around £70k.. so even with a prestigious career, most people could only ever DREAM to afford there. I think that's why most HKers are relocating to the North of England (Liverpool, etc) where property is much more affordable. Looks like a very gorgeous house and lovely location though! And glad to see that you're having a great time in England :)
US is far more financially rewarding for the second generation immigrant if they are diligent. Young doctors are making USD$250K while specialists are making 1/2 million. Young software engineers in fintech can be making $300-400K, plus stock options. Well, first generation immigrants to the US typically suffer and struggle for the benefit of the next generations. I am not sure second generation immigrants in UK could indeed excel amid UK general decline. Send your kids to the US should be you plan.

Something that an established consultant in the UK is likely not willing to do (visas are a whole other matter but elderly family is also important and it can be hard to emigrate with the entire family.) Canada is in a similar position to the US in that the salaries are generally much higher with the added benefit that You don't need to worry about your own medical insurance. The NHS is great for many things, but not for treating and compensating doctors fairly, sadly. Yes many fintech engineers are making quite a lot in the US too, but I think most are making less than 100k. That being said, build-quality in the US and Canada is typically better than in the UK. Just look at what has happened with the whole cladding scandal here.. people are living in unmortgageable homes and some are facing up to 100k in debts through no fault of their own. It's a mess. Honestly there are some great things about living in the UK but there are also many things that make living here a massive struggle.
