I think the one you were calling the U model is a DM. U was usually used for city freight. The DM was more vocational. DM stands for Dumper/Mixer. Both had the offset cabs. The steel butterfly hood I think is a heavy spec R model.
Drove a couple R Models in the 70s. One with 6cyl Maxidine , and a285 horsepower v8.Great old trucks, not much for heat in the winter! Thanks for the video Mike.
At 19:23 almost looks like an air starter tank right beside the fuel tank. Always liked the R model macks they were tough as nails except for the dash on them they were made of crappy thin plastic that always ended up cracking and looked cheap and fragile, the dash was total contrast to the rest of the truck. Awesome none the less
O-H-I-O Porters🇺🇸Happy New Year 2025! Always keep your eyes open when you’re traveling…don’t want to miss any of those fine old trucks! That’s my rule. That Western Mack had the gold dog & emblem on the horn button as well. Was that for certain years, like 77 or 78 or so? I don’t remember that detail about them. It was a cool truck. Wonder how long it has been sitting there? Probably all worn out, you think? They had some cool trucks! U model Macks aren’t my favorites, but they do have an unusual look about them. I was told that they were made for those guys who were used to driving a cabover. It was a way to acclimate them to driving a conventional Mack. It sounds a bit too much, but I’ve heard that from many of the drivers over the years. Sorry to hear about your friend’s dad. It was good that you were there for the family. Blessings my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
Hey Mike!! Hows it going, brother? As another Dirt Dummy....I actually LOOKED FORWARD to going to get parts from Paul at Manchester Mack (before they were McDevitt)!! I used to love to go around and see the guys wrenchin' 24/7....love you brother!! 😎🫶 Be safe out there, man! Best Regards to the Fam! 🇺🇲💪👊💥🇺🇲
I have driven 35 years and never have driven a MACK. Drove just about every thing else MARMON, GMC, FORD, KENWORTH, WHITE, VOLVO, PETERBILT, INTERNATIONAL, WESTERNSTAR, FREIGHTLINER. Currently in a 386 PETERBILT REALLY NICE. The MACK ANTHEM AND RAWHIDE look pretty nice. Would not mind driving one of them but only if they could be GLIDERED NO EMISSION CRAP!
Stick with the pete. These new macks are junk. Nothing is appealing to them and I am a mack guy. The 2002 pete I was driving is way nicer in almost every way than the 2007 granite I recently was put in
@@Maddogtrucking I have never driven a MACK. Driven just about everything else. Even had a MARMON until a drunk hit me head on back in 1994. Hard to believe she lived. Both of us were moving at least 55mph. Good thing I had a big hood and TEXAS bumper out front. Always thought the SUPERLINER, R MODEL, B MODEL looked real cool to drive.
We hired a R700 73 model with a 375 V8 maxidyne and a 5 speed and 4 speed It had been cut down with a tipper and water tank in it was a real shame to see it relegated to such a job it originally imported from the US and I believe even built RHD for the original owner who was an American that owned cattle stations in Australia
Well done Mike, aside from the Macks I think your right, it is all about what we leave behind I think if we can leave behind that we had decent morals and treated people fairly we have done okay As to collections of trucks or what ever, I don't really think that is to important Having said that, if my boy doesn't cart me off to be planted on the back of my Mack I am gunna haunt him lol Have a great end of 2024 and wonderful 2025
I owned a 67 RL-700L #855. The aluminum frame was cracked. The truck was in pretty bad shape. That green dump with the plow is an RD with the swing Fender option.

Nice looking old trucks you found, one of the first trucks I learned to drive was a twin stick Mack
I think that single axle dump .is a RD600 DM' were sidewinders.
I bet those trucks have seen some miles! He's got some amazing trucks on his hands!

Mike that's funny I will drive around when I see cool old iron I love old macks even though the mack I own is 2016 God bless 😊
I’m glad u found some Macks. Use that bulldog ice cube maker and Macks will grow on u.
Lots of memories of WSG! The RS795 would have had a Mack Maxidyne 325 HP V8 under the hood from birth.
I forgot, Mike....make sure you point out the air wipers! 😂 Boy, those were fun!!! 🤣🤣

I think it's been sitting there a long time but they say it runs. Thanks for your support my friend and happy new year to you.
DM plow truck!! Bad ass!!
I still need you to stumble around the Pellegrino yard and get footage of the Brougham lol and old trucker stories
I've tried but they're keeping it private. I was there once about 12 years ago, I took a few pictures.
@TheBostonTrucker i guess I'll quit bugging you then 😅
Pictures don't do that truck justice!!!!! Lol
Onidea used to have KTA 600 engines to haul double bottom trailers up and down the ny thruway with 2 loads of beer growing up in the 70s

Hi from🛣️Dexter🏠Missouri🛣️
We hired a R700 73 model with a 375 V8 maxidyne and a 5 speed and 4 speed It had been cut down with a tipper and water tank in it was a real shame to see it relegated to such a job it originally imported from the US and I believe even built RHD for the original owner who was an American that owned cattle stations in Australia
That's a shame they cut it down but it must have been a workhorse!
My ex-father-in-law was good friends with Worcester Sand and Gravel owners and used to call them Worcester Mud and Dirt.
Mike ever been to Mack museum in Allentown PA??
Well done Mike, aside from the Macks I think your right, it is all about what we leave behind
I think if we can leave behind that we had decent morals and treated people fairly we have done okay
As to collections of trucks or what ever, I don't really think that is to important
Having said that, if my boy doesn't cart me off to be planted on the back of my Mack I am gunna haunt him lol
Have a great end of 2024 and wonderful 2025
I like materials and cambovers myself
That poor old Heil water tanker started life as a farm pickup milk tanker
As always.
I owned a 67 RL-700L #855. The aluminum frame was cracked. The truck was in pretty bad shape.
That green dump with the plow is an RD with the swing Fender option.
The Mack had a gold dog on the hood because it’s all Mack motor tranny and rears rs means it’s an aluminum frame
👍💪🏻🙏
I have a friend , Dick Herts from Holden. 😂😂🎉🎉
👍
Mike, why did
the U model have an offset cab ? What was the purpose of it ?
Shorter wheelbase... for city pedaling
Hey Mike u r too a Mack guy u drove a u model and a zSuperliner showing how to drive a 12 speed Mack
My friend Dick Hertz was from Holden
Rs795 whould denote it came with a mack V8

I could be completely wrong. But is this vid is fairly recent, I think your Inspection Sticker might be expired.
Mike your inspection on your car has expired
I worked with a guy who always said that "Mack is a mans truck "
Video
Thanks for the tour. You know you drive one of the two worst vehicles ford every made. The flex and the pinto.
