So, if I'm standing right in the middle of a hallway or doorway, and I know you're trying to get by, but I refuse to move, I suppose you're okay with that because, after all, I'm acting within the law and there's no rules against it, right? Met one of these righteous guys like 30 years ago in (court ordered) driving school, of all places. He said, "I'm doing the speed limit, so I don't have to move over". His statement got one of those subtle yet loud and clear audible reactions from many of the people in that class. These people are absolutely part of the problem with their self-righteous disregard for everyone else on the road, throwing common courtesy out the window and happily antagonizing people who, for all you know, might be experiencing some kind of major emergency and can't get past you because of your (not very well thought out) high principles. These are the type of people who trigger road rage incidents. Personally, I think many of these people are getting some kind of thrill from being able to exert some form of control over others. My rule is, if you're in the left lane and you're not passing anyone, you don't need to be there. MOVE OVER.
No common problem in this world makes me angrier than left lane campers. There defenses are like you said: "I'm going the speed limit I don't have to move so you can speed" or "You should have left earlier" or "Why should I move for you?" It's amazing how many people do not understand that it IS the law (even in crazy places like CA) to pass and then move over. You can even read some comments on this video saying if you are going the speed limit you don't have to move over. Sadly, it's just not enforced, it's like jaywalking, nobody is going to get you over it. I used to rage and now I just look around for cops, then pass on the shoulder. I have passed on dirt and grass too. Love my AWD. If I spin out, so be it. Guess who I'm taking with me? OR they can avoid all that, and just MOVE OVER. I just don't get the big deal. I even have a saved video of a guy blocking me for no reason. We never met before and I was behind him all of 15 seconds when he decided to actively block me. I think he saw me come off the onramp quickly and decided "this guy" Seriously, if it were 20 years ago and there weren't cameras everywhere I think I'd start pit maneuvering people, that is actually how sick of it I am. Its aging me I get so stressed over it. Also, a lot of the time it isn't some old lady. Often times it's a young person. I think a lot of people believe the left lane is their personal: "Large gap in front of me so that I can text lane" rather than the passing lane. That is a big part of it. I had a guy once not move at a green light, so I honked. He then drove slow at the next green light. He was texting, of course Aggressively went around and gave him the finger. Guy followed me to the work parking lot, and told me, no joke "I can text and drive if I want, too bad for you" and was that mad I gave him the finger. (not mad enough to get out of his car when I asked him if he wanted to settle it though, LOL.) Was in his late 30s I'd guess. It's unreal to me.
There is those self righteous people. And the other group of people that do this have no situational awareness and/or a low IQ or knowledge of driving.
Being waterboarded by the stupidity and arrogance of self-deputized fools is a fantastic receipe for road rage. Too many broke and stupid drivers that hate their life use their car as a source of power over others. During rush hour, they'll do 5 mph under the speed limit in the car pool lane, holding up miles of cars behind them. Where else in their miserable shytti life can they have that kind of control over people? Can you imagine being in a grocery store aisle and that same ayhole standing in front of you with arms outstretched so you can't get around them, and walking at a snails pace. That's effectively what tens of millions of drivers do on the road. They feel entitled to waste others time when they don't have to see them confront them and risk getting punched in the face. Most road rage shootings should be justified self-defense. Just how offensive and controlling should you be allowed to be over another person without expecting a reaction from them?
I'm guessing that the left lane hogs are either 1.) completely oblivious that they are sharing a space with other people (similar to people in the grocery store who stand with their carts in the middle of the isle) or 2.) they are people who have little control over their day to day lives and find that slowing down traffic is their ONLY time to assert any control. Sad, sad people.
I rant about this all the time and the people who are often the offenders of this say "well you should be going the speed limit it's not called the fast lane!" You're right... its not called the fast lane. It's called the Passing lane.
i love people who think they know best for others, and then actively enforce their will onto you. wtf do they care if i drive faster. my sports car can safely go faster than your minivan, Karen. speed limits are a terrible argument too, set to 1960's car standards. top gear did a bit on the braking distances of cars then and now. it said something along the lines of a car must stop from 70 mph in under 220 yards. modern cars do that in less than 100.
The other thing these offenders will argue when you point out that there are signs that say "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT" is "I'm not going slow, I'm driving the speed limit, so I don't have to move to the right". That is when we all need to point out that it doesn't say "SLOW TRAFFIC", it says "SLOWER TRAFFIC"; meaning slower relative to other cars on the highway.
@@vansyse and @Airwolf - At ericpetersautos.com they're called "Clovers", and Eric has many articles and videos covering them in their many annoying varieties.
Yes, it's this officious, self-righteous attitude that is a complete contradiction. They're obviously implying that the other drivers are going too fast, aka driving dangerously, and are imposing their idea of "safety" on everyone else. And perhaps they have good intentions (but we know they don't; just being control freak assholes). But the end result of their personal enforcement produces the OPPOSITE result: more dangerous conditions! Contributing to tail gating is NOT making things safer! They've pissed off everyone behind them who tend to make dangerous right-side passes in their frustration to get around them. And they're inciting road rage the entire time. So in an effort to be safe, these morAns are making things incredibly dangerous. Talk about complete ignorance!
@@cameronmchugh4153 So what. Speed limits today are left over from the 1960's when cars performed half as well. It's not yours, or anyone else's prerogative to police the roads other than the damn police.
The problem is competitiveness. People seem to think they're in a race and don't like people getting in front of them even though their overall time to destination remains the same.
@@XneverstopfightingX nah say it with your whole chest. narcissists, esp in the US, absolutely hate the idea of being behind someone, despite going at the same speed. the same people also don't use their turn signals when switching lanes.
@@XneverstopfightingXall these people telling you to say it loud, lol. But I understand what you mean. The term is used wantonly nowadays and you don't want to add to the saturation. However, here I think it's an accurate time to use the term. It's not everyone behaving this way, but narcissists would characteristically take issue with being passed.
Interesting, I was driving 65 in a 60 speed limit highway (I'm a new driver). I was on the left lane, and this guy tailgating behind me switched lanes to go side to side with me and started honking his horn and giving me the middle finger.
I hate it when you pass a slow driver and as you’re in the act of passing them they decide THEN to speed up which causes you to either have to drive even faster or hover next to them!
Sounds like normal, day-to-day driving in Maryland. Add in what the man said about "SJW drivers who don't want you to speed", too: I've basically gotten used to people speeding to try to catch up with and then pass me, and then slow down to below my speed once they get in front of me so that I have to decelerate, and then they keep speeding up to prevent me from passing them. I don't even know what the point behind that sort of asshattery is...
I hate that shit so much. It's kind of hilarious when it's a semi that does it, though. Ok dude, I can easily out accelerate you, why the hell are you even trying this nonsense?
As a roadtripper i cant agree more. Another dangerous thing people tend to do is start turning or come to a complete stop before using their turn signal. They completely defeat the purpose of the signal.
I also live in Ohio and I saw on one of the digital highway signs that read "Camp in the Ohio state parks, not the left lane." hahaha It is a serious problem though.
It happens all the time in Columbus. I'll admit I drive pretty fast so I'm never in one lane but days where I do stay within the speed limit, I notice left lane drivers are slow as hell. I don't get mad because like I said I drive pretty fast so naturally I'm thinking "maybe I'm just driving a little too fast" but then I look at my speed gage. I'm doing 55 on a 65.....in the left lane, people in the middle and even right lane are driving faster than me. Jesus Christ I feel bad for truck drivers who have to deal with this shit.
Maybe people would understand if they called it the emergency vehicle + speeders lane. I think those ppl. Should drive one hour on the autobahn, they would be so scared of the left lane from that. You can get people passing at 200mph in the left lane. Unless the whole highway is clogged up the left lane is generally clear because of less speed regulations and better traffic flow because of it.
Ah, zombie drivers. The driving dead. Once alive and alert enough to acquire a driver's license, but now cursed to rot in the left lane for all eternity.
The most frustrating thing about "Left lane Hogs" Left Lane Hog: Driving 55 in a 60 Me: Well I am going around this person (As I am about to pass) Left Lane Hog: Is this car trying to pass me!!! SpeedRacer activated
The only time I have an issue is when I'm doing 75-80 and someone starts trying to pass me. Going faster than 75-80 is not necessary, and will put you at risk of getting a ticket (heck 80 can earn you a ticket here). Of course I have gone faster than these speeds but it's annoying when I have cruise control on and I'm trying to stick to the lane where I won't have to slow down.
@@Osprey1994 that's no excuse to hog the left lane. If you are doing 75-80 and you pass someone and now the right lane is clear...move over. The point is to always keep right even if you are driving fast unless you are passing. It is a PASSING lane not a driving lane.
This is hilarious because everybody is doing at least 5-10 miles over the speed limit in the places I've lived. There's the same issue, but to pass people you'll have to go even further over the limit
Was gonna say when he said the guy at he end was going UNDER the speed limit in the left and he barely honked I was thinking " dude I'd be laying on the horn on that guy wtf"
Minnesota is frustrating people left lane hog and don't move over. The speed limit is increased by 10 m.p.h. when passing on two-lane highways if posted at 55 m.p.h. or higher. So you are allowed to go over the speed limit to pass. The Behavior is so bad there wasn't a law against left lane hogging until recently in Minnesota. But people don't follow it. Wisconsin on the other hand pretty much leaves the left lane empty as you aren't allowed to drive in it. It's for passing only. People over there quickly get in the left lane to pass and move out of it into the right lane. Never had any issues over there.
Speed limit on a freeway SHOULD BE completely irrelevant if everyone could drive properly. There is no speed limit on the autobahn in Germany because drivers go through proper instruction. Also no police is going to pull you over as long as you are going the pace of traffic.
Here in PA you can guess the driver's age by their license plate number, and this happens all the time. You see a late 90's license plate on a volvo station wagon doing 10 under in the left lane.
In over 35 years of driving I found this to be true, " no matter how fast you go in the left lane there will eventually be someone behind you that for whatever reason will want to go faster." It's the passing lane for a reason.
Timothy Rushing European autostrada 😂🤣your driving in left lane in Europe someone flashes head lights hey dummy move over, you mover over he disappeared in 30 seconds😎😎
@@Jaysaflame If you wanted to drive slower than the posted speed limit, then yes I agree with you as by the law, you would be considered a moving hazard and a violation. Other than that, the posted speed limit is good and legal in any lane. You have to remember this is not about what you feel or think it should be. The law stated that you are supposed to drive at the speed limit and if you are slower, you must move over to the right lane as that is the designated lane for that. Now are there actual laws on the books for not driving in the left lane except for passing, yes. But I'm speaking from an actual in practice application in that you will not be cited for not moving over from the left lane if you are doing the speed limit. Believe me, when we would see vehicles moving in and out of lanes that are traveling faster than the speed limit, those were the drivers we would go after and ticket as they were speeding and reckless!
You did so good at speaking constantly in this video. Almost no empty space, no "umms and uhs", and you rattled off really good points and engaging commentary.
Yep me too I'll be behind people who are in the left lane they won't move over I honk my horn and they still won't move over I tried to pass them in the right lane and they cut me off
Even worse, after 3 miles I get an open spot to pass you (you're doing 5 under) by the time I get my rear duals next to you, you speed up 10 mph, and now I'm stuck in the left lane with my semi. Now everyone is passing me on the right, and looking at me like I'm the problem.
Karl my brother Mike drove Semi for over 30 years & I can NOT get it thru to people that when there's an accident between a truck & car, %99 of the time it's the CAR's fault. Semi's can't stop like cars. Other drivers get pissed @ me (especially when I drive down to Columbus) because I ride in the left lane & hold others up from popping in front of Semi's coming up to lights. Or when I hold cars up so Semi's can pull left to go around other Semi's. I flash my lights & stuff to let them know I'm on their side & almost always they wave, honk or something to say thanks :-) Like I tell those who bitch about Semi's "if you bought it, a semi-truck brought it". Mike mostly hauled steel but also hauled fuel for Marathon & he says there's nothing more scary than driving a fuel tanker, especially during the winter.
People who pass truckers on the right are also the problem. I always assume that a trucker knows how to drive, so I wait patiently behind them. 99.99999999% of the time, I’m right.

I learned that the left is just the "fast lane"
@@DoomBringerDANTE yes those exist as well. It's bc in LA the highways were built around existing buildings, and then on top of other highways, and that's why it's so weird

And the saddest part is when someone pulls up and passes those slow drivers they always get upset and slam on their gas afterwards or aggresively merge.... after you already passed them.
Or they speed up whenever someone tries to pass them, as if it is their job to stop speeders on the highway...When in reality all they are doing is cretaing an unsafe situation.
@@NixonsHead Yeah this started to piss me off. Someone I passed went 10 mph more while passing them. This made me start speeding up behind them in their draft, then quickly passing so they have less time to speed up. Ridiculous

This is literally how I talk to myself whenever I'm on the highway. I get really passionate about bad driving because you're just putting people's lives at risk without a whim.
KokahZ777 well, half of the country calls Obama dumb even though he has a 140+ iq. I’m not trying to make this political; the point is that just because people have opinions on objective matters, doesn’t mean that the truth is subjective. Clogging the lanes makes you an unsafe and inconsiderate driver. I don’t see anyone claiming to be a god??? (such a pathetic straw man) Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but some people just simply ignore traffic rules - putting other people’s lives in danger
Driving is pretty much necessary in the US, but there definitely should be more education on it. I see people fuckup all the time, and sometimes it even results in an accident. The other issue is people taking shit turns at intersections like a right turn into a left lane or a left into a right lane. I have watched a person take a left on green left turn signal and get sideswiped by someone who took a right on red and then immediately went to move into the opposite lane.
"You're moving over! Omg, this guy is literally the smartest person on the highway!!" I feel that on a very deep level anytime someone exercises passing lane discipline.
You're right. Highways are not racetracks, which is why I prefer them, and other good public roads. Racetracks are too overpriced, too limited, and way too inconvenient. There's times & places, where one can safely go fast, on public roads. And doing so, with a properly setup performance-oriented vehicle, will make doing so, even safer, because of the above average handling, braking, and stability. Speed limits are irrelevant. What's more important, are the road condition, the weather, the visibility, the likelihood of obstacles popping out of no-where, and of course, the traffic around & ahead. That's what keeps me safe. My alertness, my produce, my skills, and knowing the physical limits of my bikes. People can be as distracted, drunk, incompetent, stupid and wicked as possible. It is my responsibility to keep myself & motorcycle safe. The police & government can burn.
@Curtis Sherwood tell that to the race bike enthusiasts that go 140mph weaving in and out of traffic and the highway patrol does not do anything to them. Let me go 75 mph in the left lane and if you want to go 60 be in the right hand lane. The speed limit was set up for older cars. My truck rides so smooth that going 80 feels like going 50.
I failed my drivers test the first time due to this. I was really annoyed because I got well over the points to pass. But I understood and when I toke my test the second time I passed. Never went to drivers school though ✌
@Atlantic MilkLord That's how it is in most of Europe for example. Well, I mean, this morning in Sweden, people just do what they do in the US. It's horrendous when there's a need to undertake them. Especially when there are two open lanes to the right. It happens here too, but it is emphasized in the driving school. Most of us should know, but still it happens. Do that in Germany and you're dead with an Audi or a BMW coming at over 120 through the tailgate.
There was just a law passed(in Dallas I think) where you can get tickets for clogging the left lane. The largest ticket ever should be getting passed on the right. If anyone is passing on your right, you're in the wrong lane.
I’m a truck driver, and I can’t begin to explain how much this is accurate. It’s accuracy is probably over 9k. I am constantly having drivers who are going the same speed as the guy next to them, and preventing me and others from passing them. The 2 other big issues on US highways, are improper lane changes, and not realizing how much time and distance is required to stop. Your average car takes about 1 football field to stop in a hard break, it takes a tractor trailer 2x that, if the driver is paying attention, and knows to hard break.
At least here in California the bigger issue is the dive bombers, merge cheaters, and people the refuse to allow you to change lanes to merge or exit creating entropy in traffic. It all comes from a mentality of only caring about yourself and not the way the whole system functions.
Yep. A much bigger problem than left lane hoggers are the constant lane changers. People are also driving way too fast in general. It’s not the SLOW drivers that are the problem
I always drive the speed limit or slightly below In the rightmost lane unless I have an upcoming left turn somewhere. It's always pretty nervewracking to see the late night "street racers" blowing out everyones ears and changing lanes suddenly, cutting people off and using aftermarket LED's without adjusting thier angle to match stock and avoid blinding folks. Like clockwork you have these people every night. Often In larger pickups too. Then there's all of your daytime no or almost no blinker people who change lanes quickly and abruptly, and use their blinker as an afterthought or not at all. Shit the other day I literally saw someone turn left at a roundabout.
I think another issue In California is the “they don’t care about me so why should I care about them” mentality. Self centered drivers create other self centered drivers.
Before moving to California I thought they'd be bad drives, but for the most part they aren't. The only noticably consistent thing is their terrible TERRIBLE merging etiquette. They'll merge 20 mph slower than the flow of traffic and cut off others. Sometimes they're WAY too fast. Sometimes they don't obey right of way and change speeds unpredictably.
California overall has the best drivers of all the states. I learned to drive in CA and feel so fortunate as it prepared me for all the other places I’d be where people were bad drivers or assumed women don’t know how to drive. California drivers are more willing to let people merge into their lane, keep moving along, and know how to use on ramps for acceleration. The only thing I don’t like are motorcycles who ride in between lanes when traffic stops or slows. Having lived in NC his whole life my husband was impressed with how much better CA drivers were.
Most traffic jams in my morning commute are not caused by accidents, they are caused by left lane hogs, often matching the speed of drivers in the right lane so it is difficult to pass. Thank you for this video, more people need to talk about American Lane Discipline.
@@Laroc1982 Well, you're not supposed to go over the speed limit. "Oh, but I can't pass them and now it creates a dangerous situation for me to pass." Except the person in front of you is likely already going the speed limit (likely more) and for you to pass them swiftly in any case, you'd need to be going significantly faster than THAT. They're not the problem, you are. You can't use the passing lane as some emergency passing lane when you don't have any kind of emergency. Statistically, speed kills. When you choose to go well over the speed limit, especially well over the rest of the flow of traffic, you're encroaching on others' safety and I have zero care about what you think about the "lane hog" in front of you.
Yesterday I actually saw a work van that wasn't even doing the speed limit in the passing lane get pulled over for forcing people to pass him on the right, it was glorious honestly

Sadly it happens in Canada too. Especially in BC! It was an odd driving experience when I spent a couple years in that province. Honestly, it felt like the only lane with less congestion than the right lane in BC are the HOV lanes. Worked fine for the most part I guess, cause I don't tend to speed at all, and spend probably 99% of my time in the right lane. It was so annoying when you had to pass a semi going like 10 or 20 under because I would normally have to reduce my own speed to get into the "passing" lane. My best guess as to why would be that there are just so many trucks in that area that nobody wants to make the lane changes to go around them.
@Drew Everett It's the same up here in Canada if you go by the book. However there are also signs that say slower traffic keep right (seen them in the US too), and I have seen cops light up people in the left lanes for not keeping up with traffic. Also if you ever drive in the mountains, you'll quickly realize passing lanes are VERY much so a real thing, the signs even call them that, and you will be very thankful for them.
I think it varies from state to state too. I live on LI and people are the worst. I remember going down to Florida and people were so much better at moving over. Bottom line it's about ego, if you don't move over if someone wants to left lane pass..... You need to do some work on yourself. That was something I noticed when I got older and started doing some personal self improvement....I moved over for passing motorist.
my top 3 biggest pet peeves on the highway.. 1. forcing me to pass on the right/clogging up left lane, and not using it as 'passing only' as it should. 2. Not signaling your turn, especially while cutting me off suddenly, or while lane weaving at high speeds between 3+ lanes to get ahead of everyone, rather than respecting traffic flow. 3. not going a consistent speed, and playing 'musical passing' where you speed up to pass/prevent me from passing, then I get back to the same speed on cruise, then you passing me again, only to get in front of me and eventually slow down, and make me turn off my cruise/pass you again. Repeat. Bonus:, this is an addendum to point #1 that is almost a worse version. Trucks riding side by side blocking lanes for MILES!!! (one time two trucks clogged up both lanes while trying to 'pass' for 10+ miles... seriously)
@@abelflores5976Right on. I go through this all the time on my travels. Don’t know why it’s so hard to use the cruise and stop playing cat and mouse over and over. It’s infuriating.
Number 3! The Yo-Yo Passer. Maddening! I use a technique where, while passing them-again-I wander in the lane to make them think I’m not fully in control. They almost always speed up and go away.
No one is forcing you to pass on the right. You're choosing to do it. You have control over your life. Understand that and take accountability for your actions. (including your speeding)

That being said, if the highway is clear and I see someone coming up faster than me, I'll move over for them as long as I don't have to slow down to do so. Otherwise I'll only move once that's the case. Funnily enough I've had situations where I go to move over and the person wanting to pass does the same, thinking that I won't move over. Makes it a little weird. Do I stay in the lane or go back to the left since they already started the right lane overtake? Those are the worst. The only time I don't move is if there's several cars also going 80 in front of me. At that point the highway is congested and they're going to have to try their luck. I absolutely am not going to slow down my commute just so the guy behind me can end up stuck behind the 9 cars in front of me. Two lane highway is a different story. sivo cr. That’s how it should be, in Europe everyone drives that fast even faster, in Europe legal speed limit in some countries are 130kph-140kph and 150kph but everyone drives like on a autobahn going over 20kph to go much faster. 😎😎😎
What's equally as problematic is the rampant tailgating. When you think about it, it's the cause of all the stop and go traffic as well as the abrupt speed changes that are so dangerous and responsible for a majority of the rear end collisions.
I love how at 19:57 you're talking about how horrible lane discipline is holding us back on safety and traffic's ability to move, just as the left lane gets so backed up that everyone's stopped, while right lane traffic is moving smoothly lmao! Perfect illustration!
Is it worth getting shot over or having an accident? Road rage incidents on the expressway happen occasionally where I live. Tailgaiting is just at bad if not worse as the braindead, dipshit cruising the left lane. You're endangering everyone's life on the road. I know how irritating it is but is all that risk worth a couple minutes? Just be patient and let's all go home in one piece!
In the UK people still do that even though during your driving test you're told to use the left lane for driving in the highway (we're a RHD country so it's the opposite of you guys) and the right lane for overtaking but everyone rests on the overtaking lane even though they're told not to 🤦♂️

Drive either, a civilian, or police auction Crown Victoria and place a flashing red/blue baby soother (or an equivalent) on the dashboard and watch as people turn on their right signals and get TF out of the way! You'll want to be careful, though, because impersonation is indictable.
I used to drive a cab... aka, Crown Victoria... I used to love that thing, until people saw the livery plate then ive gotten quite a few people mad enough to follow me for a few miles and try to get me to pull over.. and I would do an average of 5-10 over just because I could. I got pulled over once, completely my fault, doing 23 over, but otherwise, police leave you alone too
LOL!!! I had one. This is 100% TRUE!!!! I also loved when people would have their brights on in my face and they would not shut them off after I flashed them. I'd flash the spotlight (facing down, not out) and they would immediately shut them off. ROFL!!! Another thing having an ex-cop car is getting waved first at every stop sign you go to. One of the bad things I'd run into quite often is when I was doing a left turn, a car across from me turning right and had the right of way would just sit there because they didn't want me behind them I guess. That shit got on my nerves.
@Nathan unknown Lmao you must not know how well the brakes on a sporty car work. Not all vehicles are equal. A motorcycle can stop faster than a sports car. A sports car can stop faster than a stock sedan. A stock sedan will stop faster than a minivan, etc.
@@lilblingking1491 This is a common myth. A motorcycle with an experienced driver stops about the same as your average sedan. A motorcycle with an inexperienced driver will stop slower than an average car.
@A A Watch the video. It's explained. In England, it's the law and the police regularly hand out tickets for it. It creates combative and dangerous situations that wouldn't happen anyway. Let the police deal with speeders. I hate speeders too but you're not batman.
What I hate is when I try to pass on the left and people on the right are speeding up and not letting me move over to the middle lane. And when people clog the far right lane and don’t leave any space between cars to exit the freeway.
I think something that is even more dangerous is when people don't keep a safe follow distance and when people swerve from lane to lane like it's Subway Surfers. This causes other vehicles to brake more resulting in phantom traffic jams which disrupt the flow of traffic. I think the ideal situation would be if everyone had lane discipline, kept an adequate follow distance, and changed lanes as few times as possible.
You’re completely right. There is absolutely no reason to tailgate unless you’re a narcissistic idiot. You can speed keep you’re following distance when coming up on a slower driver and safely go around. People pay their taxes to drive on public roads and they shouldn’t be put in unsafe situations from entitled drivers that don’t care about rear ending and hurting someone.
Its so funny that you would mention subway surfers when the whole point of the game is to avoid obstacles. Maybe you should move to the right lane and the game would be easier for everyone with no obstacles blocking the flow of traffic. Sometimes people want to go a little faster and there are legitimate reasons to want to go 10-15 mph over the limit. The hospital is one such instance. Also most accidents happen at low speed. A fast driver is generally more alert and aware. If you move out of the way and let them pass there are no issues for you anymore.
@@Darkoola This happens on one lane roads. Literally happened to me while going 90 in a 70 last week in a one lane toll road. The jerk elected to swerve onto the shoulder and pass me going better than a hundred. So what was I supposed to do, huh? Am I just not allowed to use the toll because I'm not breaking the law hard enough?
I'm in California too and this is a problem, but I feel the BIGGER problem here is a complete lack of using signals (including changing lanes, turning left or right, turning into a gas station, it's like they don't know how to use them), I estimate 90% of drivers don't use their signals.
There's also another problem I've seen in California that does not seem to occur elsewhere, at night probably every evening I drive home there will be one or two cars on the journey who don't have their lights on. Often it's electric cars, so I'm guessing they see they have low battery so need to preserve every last watt of power by turning off their lights. I guess their car not dying is more important than them personally dying?!
Literally the VA driver's ed course. "Take a computer test no one applies and put around this parking lot for three minutes." >checks if it's been six months since the learners was issued "YEP, all good, you're a 100% trained driver."
I'm a driving enthusiast. Unfortunately the people who actually need to watch this will probably never come across it, let alone set aside their ego to watch it even if they do see it.
The thing is lane discipline should be thought wen you go for your drivers, the basic tests we do to pass your drivers is not enough to learn most rules and etiquette of the road. The people that do these kind of things don't care enough to ever learn why people are flashing their headlights behind them.
I find traffic situations like this make me drive faster. When people are clogging the highway like an obese person's artery, I feel a claustrophobic urge to get around "the horde" as I call the common terrible drivers. On the rare occasions people drive like proper normal people, I don't feel the same urge to overtake everyone
Same here. Especially since I live around a lot of more industrial work right now. I worry about getting crushed by a flipped dump truck, a brick flying through my windshield, ladder falling off someone's truck etc. People either drive totally unaware or like total a-holes - it really represents everything I don't like about people lol
I've said to myself before that a lot of people really would benefit from re-taking their driver test and exam once every few years, they need it. So many people develop bad driving habits that are never corrected, and they get a selfish, aggressive and reckless behavior in traffic which endangers others.
This is cutting your nose to spite your own face, and justifying unsafe driving habits when a simpler option would be to slow down, go the same speed as the person you're fussing over, get in the right lane, and calmly listen to an Audible book while you casually get to your destination. Life is not a street race, calm down.
@mister clean Some highways/parkways only have two lanes. It's frustrating. You'll have a person in the right lane and another person in the left lane driving next to each other going 40
This is literally a life-or-death matter. I am an honorably-retired police officer with a successful law enforcement career spanning 30 years. A lot of people don't realize, that when there is a medical emergency, illegally blocking the left lane can significantly delay medical response. For starters, it causes traffic to back up. For medical emergencies, dispatch typically sends paramedics in an ambulance, fire department EMTs in their fire truck, AND a police officer in a police car. Paramedics are the highest level of emergency medical training. EMTs are below that. Police officers are typically trained to the level of EMR (Emergency Medical Responder), which is more than First Aid and CPR, but less than EMT. Police cars are also typically equipped with an AED, First Aid Kit, and many individual officers also carry a BOK (Blow Out Kit) for major bleeds. But the biggest difference, is the response times. Ambulances and fire trucks are virtually always dispatched from their quarters, so they have to get out of bed, get dressed, get in their vehicle, buckle up, start the engine, and then begin driving to the scene. Police are virtually always dispatched from the road- they're already driving. Plus, all modern police cars, even the Ford SUV, will do 150 mph, and all police officers have high-performance EVOC driver training. Ambulances and fire trucks are VERY slow, and their drivers do not receive high-performance driver training as a regular part of their training. So think about what that means, when your infant stops breathing. In my experience as a police officer, I can tell you that we'd like to get there faster, but the left lane campers have got the freeways all clogged up. A lot of times, they won't even pull over to get out of OUR way when we come up behind them with lights and sirens going, because they think they don't have to pull over if they're not speeding..
@CaseyPutsch Another major problem we have is the TYPE of response to approaching emergency vehicles that are using lights and sirens. When an emergency vehicle approaches with lights and sirens, from any direction, drivers are to move ALL THE WAY to the RIGHT and then STOP completely. Do it IMMEDIATELY, and do it in that order. Lights and sirens are NOT a signal for other drivers to remain in their road coma and do nothing. It doesn't mean to move to the left into my path. It doesn't mean to slow down to the speed limit and drive with two wheels on the shoulder. It doesn't mean to speed up and try to make a left turn across the path of the emergency vehicle. It doesn't mean to jerk the steering wheel back and forth and then dynamite the brakes IN the traffic lane. It doesn't mean to try to guess which car I'm trying to pull over. It doesn't mean ANY of that stupid stuff. It just means to IMMEDIATELY move ALL THE WAY to the RIGHT, and then STOP COMPLETELY.
I keep telling people that in my state, if you are d riving in the left lane and not making a turn, and refuse to pull to the right lane when someone wants to go faster than you are, it doesnt matter if you are going 30+ MPH over the speed limit, if he wants to go higher, you gotta pull to the right lane. People dont believe me when i tell them its on the books and i have seen cops semi enforce this. Downside or upside depends how you look at it, its not a moving violation but something lesser. What i mean by semi enforce, is that, if the person is impeding traffic and no one is being a dipS around them, aka passing them on the right lane, they wont touch it, but the moment you got a train of like 4-8 people passing this person going "slow" in the left lane , lights are blaring at that point, slow car is getting pulled over. Slow meaning slower than the speed of traffic, or what traffic wishes to go. I think it is called obstructing traffic or something along those lines. If im not mistaken its usually meant to be informative and a quick cash grab (still less than a speeding ticket, which is already pretty low). IIRC this was passed to give a reason for cops to stop people from going the speed limit in all lanes of the road, side by side. AKA something like protesting people speeding etc. by getting like 4 cars in a 4 lane road, just cruise control set at the speed limit acting like a wall.
It would require German levels of enforcement and training and Americans can't even be bothered to wear a mask during a pandemic. It's never going to work.
😂 no difference in Germany. If you are driving 150mph on the left lane there is always an idiot who ist driving 60mph on the left lane instead on the right where is enough space for him, because there is not much traffic. Sometimes they pull on the left lane when they spot you in they're mirros to "educate" you because you're "speeding". Which is extremely dangerous and you're allowed to drive that fast. In high traffic situations it is an different story an you drive slower. But as an example that happens often enough. Greetings from Germany😅
OMG this is my biggest pet peeve while driving. I can take pretty much anything else but somebody who goes 15mph lower than the speed limit blocking the left lane drives me nuts.
Then they speed up when you attempt to pass them on the right side, proving that their only intention is to impede traffic. It's wild. I wanna just sit down and interview someone who drives like this, and ask them why they think the highway is a good place for trolling....
@@NixonsHead yes exactly. That speed up thing is actually almost worse than hogging the left lane. Why wait until I try to pass to decide to start driving fast?
@@briancommon9281its one thing to overtake a line of semi trucks because you'd have to waste your time and your brakes to let someone pass but for regular traffic all it takes is letting go of the gas and stay right for a while until you can gently go back up to your cruising speed on the left lane. If theres no space there's no space, but if there was no space you wouldn't be doing 10 over, you'd be doing 10 under ;)
Try doing this in a few European countries on the Autobahn.. they value their licenses there.. and my second point.. everything you just said gets worse exponentially when you are on a motorcycle.. I have the titanium and steel to prove the point..
Unfortunately law enforcement won’t enforce this law, at least not here in the U.S. I was recently in the UK where their motorways run 100 times smoother and most drivers drive respectfully there. It pretty much comes down to selfishness and lack of attention.
As an Ohioan, I am shocked that the girl in the Subaru didn't brake check you when you flashed your lights at her. That appears to be driving 101 in most areas - brake check people.
I'm sorry you have to drive in Ohio @turbo1431. The "passing lane" law there gives license to the rolling blockades and brake-checking done by "Johnny wannabe a traffic cop" drivers! Both activities are illegal and VERY dangerous as well.
These are the things that should be prioritized in driving school, instead of putting all of there attention and grading into parallel parking. Highway lane discipline and roundabouts get heavily ignored in driver's ed
I've been a #1 lane is the passing lane person my entire time driving over 40 years. On my most recent road trip of more than 300 miles there was one truck that hogged the left lane for more than 100 miles. Every time I saw him he was in the left lane with no traffic around him at all. The next worse thing is people waiting until the last second to move over 3 or 4 lanes to exit the freeway.
I had to do NC to FL and going through SC it's so bad. Only 2 lanes almost the entire way through. Enjoy the trips but dread that portion for those exact same reasons.
Last month I drove from Dallas to Los Angeles. I saw someone do that for about 300 miles. Every now and then you see signs saying left lane for passing. Usually these people are the ones to always have their high beams on lol. I was on cruise control and he kept on passing me and slowed down for the entire time I saw him.
I always ride faster than traffic in general, but my main reason for using the left lane is it is a more comfortable lane as a driver, especially for long drives. It takes less thinking to maintain the drive vs the right lane. Just a reason someone might be in the left other than passing explicitly. My opinion though is you should maintain passing speed in the left lane at all times. Don't go slow.
@@joedrummond946 Yes this is typically why people just stay in the left lane. However when possible you should still move over to the right lane. Laziness is not a valid reason for a dangerous driving habit. Its not as bad in the US due to rigid speed limits but in general sticking to the right lane only for passing makes everyone more predictable reducing opportunities for accidents.
If there are truly 300 - 350 million people in America... ALL of them need to watch this video. I've been driving 40+ years and I watched it. Well done, Casey!

There is nothing more frustrating than having to overtake on the RIGHT Lane due to a completely oblivious driver going slower than anybody else in the left lane
MarcoGamer640 Productions 2012-2019 We all do, which is precisely the issue. Passing on the right increases your chance of an accident exponentially. There’s so many more factors involved in the right lanes due to people constantly merging onto/off the Interstates. We shouldn’t have to be doing this; people should not be in the left lane if they aren’t passing. It’s dead simple.
If you're driving faster than 80-90 you're going too fast. Unless you're passing someone that's going 70-75. If you're going slower than 65-75 on the highway you're too slow. Simple as
@@anthonydarrigo7291 this video and any comment should be about not clogging up the passing lane. Everyone needs to get in the left lane to pass, then get back over to the right lane and get out of the way. That allows the traffic to flow freely. It’s not up to us how fast someone drives, or how slow. As long as we can pass the slow ones, and keep them in the right lane, we’re doing good!
I think this is representative of a greater issue that we have in the US with general lack of self-awareness and lack of feelings of social responsibility
@@eyeborg3148 one time i saw a cop on an overpass with a radar gun getting people and radioing ahead on the expressway, up ahead there was about 6 cop cars waiting in a line to get the speeders he called out. i imagined a semitruck sideswiping him on the bridge and emptying him out like a tube of toothpaste... like that was probably half the citys resources dedicated to that speed trap that day. they must have needed a new coffee machine in the office or something idk but i hate cops after i saw that. it wasa 2 lane bridge and he had his squad car on the bridge blocking 1 lane and holding up traffic that was crossing the expressway.
When I was a teenager I wanted to be a state trooper. My main focus was to specifically target left lane losers, driving in rain with no lights on and improper use of bright lights.
Bobby Brady he is making a comparison on how Germany’s road way works compared to the US. I would assume he is referring to the autobahn since there is essentially no speed limit.
Another huge issue is the ON ramp. People in the right lane will literally floor it to 90+ to stop you from merging. I HATE this it is dangerous and pointless. Ive seen ppl get up to 90 almost pushing me into the shoulder and when i speed up to avoid it they then go back down to 65. WHY? WHY DO PPL DO THIS!?
People on cell phones do this very often too. What they do is tailgate a car that is roughly doing their speed...I've had those pricks do that when we're the only two cars on the road at 3AM in some pretty sparse stretch in a rural area. But when there isn't someone to track like that, they just sit there and when other cars speed up they do too because they're going off others. It is infuriating.
I hate that too. Sometimes when there aren't cops around, I speed even faster than they do quickly in response. Probably not the kind of driving behavior that should be encouraged in that situation but it's like dude you were going slow in the left lane, and you wouldnt move over. I'm passing your ass wether you like it or not.
or vice versa. after work one day i was driving home and decided to pass a guy going 5 under the limit. i passed him and wanted to go back into the right lane, so i waited a few moments til i could see his headlights in the rearview mirror, but i notice he started speeding up as there was no difference in distance. (the headrest of the backseats block headlights, and he was just right at that spot where i could safely lane change) i honestly didn't realise it but i signalled right and cut him off, which i saw two headlights slowing down behind me.
> "over 40 and has a clue" Most lane hogs ive dealt with have been older people, they are worse when they are on lane roads and they think its ok to go 10 miles under the speed limit.
I live in WV and it's common to go 15 to 25 miles under sometimes because old people and there are A LOT of one lane roads making 15 min drives 30 or more

@fetB In America, basically, anyone gets a drivers license. You don't actually have to know how to drive. People will just drive forever in the left hand lane, that's supposed to be for passing. And they will enter the freeway doing like 40mph. Which is extremely dangerous, as traffic is doing twice that speed.
In Europe its illegal to overtake a vehicle on its right side on highways. You can overtake only left, by using the next line on the left. Also illegal, blocking left lines.
Alabama passed a left lane hog law. We shall see what happens. The way people drive has made me into a left lane hog myself. When the road is slightly congested, if I move right then I can count on a car coming up on my left and staying there, impeding my ability to pass when I come up on slower right lane traffic.
I wouldn't hold my breath. Unless cops actively enforce it, it won't do a thing and it would seem to require a lot more work than just sitting by the side of the road, pulling the trigger on a radar gun. What we really need is a left lane-hog automatic enforcement camera.
I had a daydream that a snowplow ran through these two cars while on my way to L.A. and fireworks were displayed in celebration and world hunger was solved because the delivery trucks were able to make it on time
There's tons and tons and tons of extremely extremely stupid and unaware drivers on our roads. I swear everyone thinks and drives as if they're the only person on the road, absolute zero situational awareness and it makes you think how they live their lives in general.
I agree, and it most likely stems from how easy it is to get and maintain a license. With that said, I almost always expect people to be inexperienced first, unless they prove otherwise. I know we are driving with people who may have zero experience on the freeway, so we gotta be courteous and maybe as a community, give each other tips. I’ve been driving almost 15 years, and I definitely consider myself a super observant, hyper attentive driver, and this probably didn’t bear fruit until my 6-7th year. I’ve never had a bad interaction either, maybe due to my driving etiquette. Lessons for those still learning!
@@qtraplova To the OP of the original comment, I don't think I'm the only person on the road, but then yet again I'm not stupid. I drive defensively. Going 3 to 4 years so far, zero accidents. If anything I am on alert of someone cutting me off every single day or acting like they own the road and I'm just a peasant. I always watch these videos to further educate on my driving, and before I even got my license, watching Canada's Worst Drivers on RUclips taught me A LOT of what I should and should NOT do. That's right, a Canadian show about horrible drivers taught me to be a better driver while I was in the middle of getting my license. With that said, I am not immune nor prone to making mistakes or driver sins if you will, I have ran a red light and even missed a stop sign when I didn't mean to at all, I'm lucky I didn't get ticketed for it, but at the same time I try very hard not to repeat those mistakes, and haven't in a year now. Its not a very day thing for me and thank god I didn't cause or nearly cause an accident either.
Casey one thing you could do when being behind a left lane hog rather than honk and flash the lights is to give a left turn signal to let them know you want that lane to be open. Unfortunately, most people are either on their phones or probably won’t understand. However, I’ve done it before and it has worked. Whether it does or not, it’s a very polite way to do it as it’s the way Germans do it on the Autobahn.
Being in the UK I'm guessing you know the problem of middle lane hogs. Clear motorway, chilling in the middle lane doing 55. It's illegal now and people still do it.
bro as im seeing this video, im starting to appreciate UK motorways sooo fucking much and the people too, seems less egoistic than American people. we do have middle lane hoggers but still at least nobody hogs the overtaking lane. love it
I thought the reason was to have the most amount of drivers, so companies and government can have more vehicles, insurance, tickets, gas, repairs and so on, so the money can keep flowing.
@@brucedavidson7422 it's not like it's any better in the states. A lot of states require a $500+ class for people under 21 that want a driver's license

Kodi Lawson Sorry but my car is low and I like to be able to see more than 20 feet in front of me when I’m going 60+ mph. Plus it’s dangerous to be between two semi trucks. You can get flattened. I’ve seen a few fatal crashes that way.

Quick question. Why is it that when two semi's get close to each other and one goes to pass the other they will almost always go the same speed for miles. Is this bc of the governer and if so shouldn’t the other semi driver slow down to let the other pass?

My biggest pet peeve on freeways is when a driver merges onto the freeway with nobody in front of them and they immediately switch to the middle/left lane. I’ve had people cut me off before that way and they’re completely clueless.
MOVE OVER.
What infuriates is that they dont react to signals either. I might be blinking, signaling. They ignore and continue driving at 60 on 80 road
An emergency does not give any the right to speed
There is those self righteous people. And the other group of people that do this have no situational awareness and/or a low IQ or knowledge of driving.
So if you get shot ur not gonna speed ur just gonna bleed out so that you dont break the law? 🤡 @bjank4598
Most people are too Ego-based when it comes to driving. Everything is interpreted as a personal attack against them. It's frustrating!!
Bladed Angel love the vids brother
Yup, pretty much.
Bladed Angel even worse are the douchebags who drive behind you with their high beams on
I rant about this all the time and the people who are often the offenders of this say "well you should be going the speed limit it's not called the fast lane!" You're right... its not called the fast lane.

Yes, it's this officious, self-righteous attitude that is a complete contradiction. And perhaps they have good intentions (but we know they don't; just being control freak assholes). But the end result of their personal enforcement produces the OPPOSITE result: more dangerous conditions! Contributing to tail gating is NOT making things safer!

If you wanted to drive slower than the posted speed limit, then yes I agree with you as by the law, you would be considered a moving hazard and a violation.
I am constantly having drivers who are going the same speed as the guy next to them, and preventing me and others from passing them. The 2 other big issues on US highways, are improper lane changes, and not realizing how much time and distance is required to stop.
The problem is states not addressing this as fervently as they should, just like with DUI and seatbelt commercials or road messages.

The only time I don't move is if there's several cars also going 80 in front of me. At that point the highway is congested and they're going to have to try their luck. I absolutely am not going to slow down my commute just so the guy behind me can end up stuck behind the 9 cars in front of me.

@A A You get over as soon as you're not passing anyone. Speed is completely irrelevant.
@A A Because it's a passing lane. That is it's function.
@A A Watch the video. It's explained. In England, it's the law and the police regularly hand out tickets for it.
It creates combative and dangerous situations that wouldn't happen anyway. Let the police deal with speeders. I hate speeders too but you're not batman.
@A A Less highway congestion and safer passing.
What I hate is when I try to pass on the left and people on the right are speeding up and not letting me move over to the middle lane. And when people clog the far right lane and don’t leave any space between cars to exit the freeway.
Then you should get in the right lane sooner!
You live up to your username.
People wouldn't lane surf if people had lane discipline in the first place. It would actually be impossible if people respected the lanes.

On the rare occasions people drive like proper normal people, I don't feel the same urge to overtake everyone
the EXACT same thing happens to me.
Same here. Especially since I live around a lot of more industrial work right now. I worry about getting crushed by a flipped dump truck, a brick flying through my windshield, ladder falling off someone's truck etc. People either drive totally unaware or like total a-holes - it really represents everything I don't like about people lol
I prefere to call it a cockwad
I've said to myself before that a lot of people really would benefit from re-taking their driver test and exam once every few years, they need it. So many people develop bad driving habits that are never corrected, and they get a selfish, aggressive and reckless behavior in traffic which endangers others.
This is cutting your nose to spite your own face, and justifying unsafe driving habits when a simpler option would be to slow down, go the same speed as the person you're fussing over, get in the right lane, and calmly listen to an Audible book while you casually get to your destination. Life is not a street race, calm down.
People in the US use the left lane as the “I’m going more a long distance/more than 3 exits lane”
I do that at 120 lol
Usually slow af suvs and minivan twats.
That's why I'm on the second to left lane. I'm only on the far left lane if I'm passing vehicles
Here Here
@CaseyPutsch Another major problem we have is the TYPE of response to approaching emergency vehicles that are using lights and sirens.
Who the hell are you and why are you in recommend? Totally agree though.

Thank you! Impeding traffic in the left lane definitely needs to be taken more seriously by law enforcement.
Why not better training for new drivers instead?

I would support police troopers like you...
@@davidcanaandaniel Ditto.
you'd be a far better trooper than the ones we currently have
You would be my. fucking. hero.
You wouldn't be able to meet your ticket quota doing that.
In Germany left lane hogging ends in paralyzation or death.
Did I ever say he was?
Bobby Brady he is making a comparison on how Germany’s road way works compared to the US. I would assume he is referring to the autobahn since there is essentially no speed limit.
Sorry your reading comprehension is poor and you are now covering it up with inane rambling. Your ego must be very fragile.
@Bobby Brady
You say idiot, I say tomato
I'm a genius, your a potato
not really, but alright
Another huge issue is the ON ramp. People in the right lane will literally floor it to 90+ to stop you from merging. I HATE this it is dangerous and pointless. Ive seen ppl get up to 90 almost pushing me into the shoulder and when i speed up to avoid it they then go back down to 65. WHY? WHY DO PPL DO THIS!?
The worst thing is when left lane bandits speed up when you begin to pass them on the right.
Bonzi Buddy they deserve to be shot honestly.
Had this happen today, the girl thought if she gassed her 4 cylinder SUV, she'd stop my V10 engine from passing her with ease.
> "over 40 and has a clue"
Most lane hogs ive dealt with have been older people, they are worse when they are on lane roads and they think its ok to go 10 miles under the speed limit.
That's so real
Not always old people! Left lane bandits can be any age! Or nationality and I’m not saying which ones because some moron will say I’m racist.
I live in WV and it's common to go 15 to 25 miles under sometimes because old people and there are A LOT of one lane roads making 15 min drives 30 or more
35 year old here. I always pass on the left and move to the right for faster drivers. Never linger in the left lane, and also rant and complain about it lol
@@TripReviews Your comment is redundant
If you do this in any European country, you can make people behind you really, really mad. I would say it's a disrespect.
doing what?
@@fetB oof
It’s illegal too in many European countries
@@5.5.Below.5 Not gonna watch the full video since ive never even driven anywhere but germany. I'm just asking whether theres something particular to note, but if its just left lane blocking, fair enough.
Funny though, the comment talks about disrespect and here you guys are with the smugness. Yikes.
So did Georgia. Nobody follows it, and the cops never bother to enforce it.
@@Jim7316s its about the same as having your headlights on when its raining. Its the law in most places but they never enforce it.
They passed one in Oklahoma too. Cops enforce it here, I have seen a few pullovers. Which is nice because I-35 is 2 lanes the entire state.
In Tulsa they don't enforce it
The worst is when there’s 2 cars each in a lane that alternate slightly passing each other for miles. Makes me want to drive into the jersey barrier
I had a daydream that a snowplow ran through these two cars while on my way to L.A. and fireworks were displayed in celebration and world hunger was solved because the delivery trucks were able to make it on time
Lol your the type of driver to lane switch after every car and ride on people's asses.
@mister clean lol you don't have the balls to move anyone into a ditch kiddo. Go pass your driver's exam now.
Well, everyone thinks and drives as if they're the only person on the road, and really the only person period. Just in their own ways
Everyone?!?
Habla espanol? Better get used to 3rd world driving habits!
Me: Sitting in the left lane, traffic building up behind me, and I am staying put.
Plot twist: I live in the UK and it’s just rush hour.
I see what you did there. :P
Didn't anticipate that plot twist
KENYA as well,,,though the hogs here are on the 'right' lane
Being in the UK I'm guessing you know the problem of middle lane hogs. Clear motorway, chilling in the middle lane doing 55. It's illegal now and people still do it.
bro as im seeing this video, im starting to appreciate UK motorways sooo fucking much and the people too, seems less egoistic than American people. we do have middle lane hoggers but still at least nobody hogs the overtaking lane. love it
This why Germany got the autobahn and we didn’t.
States fail to actually educate their drivers. They honestly should make it universal to ticket all left lane hogs
I thought the reason was to have the most amount of drivers, so companies and government can have more vehicles, insurance, tickets, gas, repairs and so on, so the money can keep flowing.
@@itspapaj4732 the Autobahn is great and all but I really dislike paying $1200 for classes to get licensed...
@@brucedavidson7422 it's not like it's any better in the states. A lot of states require a $500+ class for people under 21 that want a driver's license
Weird, because on our Autobahn there are enough left or middle lane hogs
I learned this from a state highway patrolman, he flashed his headlights and me not knowing what he wanted I pulled over and he taught me something that I hadn't learned in driving school. Left lane hogs make things dangerous so hopefully this video reaches more people.
I would have bought him a beer. Brings a tear to my eye that there are some Troopers who actually know how to live in a society.
Don't be annoying on the road, Cody. Move over.😎
@@bikotheanimator6169 don’t be annoying in the RUclips comment section lol. He already figured this out. 😂
It's actually speeders who make things dangerous. We're forced to accept that they'll "always be there" and yield to them.
@@turtleislandlac1490 do you know how speed limits are normally set? They take a speed survey of the road, then set the limit at the speed that 85% of drivers drive at/under. By default, 15% of drivers are speeders.
In NY the driving test is a joke and requires no highway driving to pass. You can legally obtain a license to drive (incl on the highway) having little no highway driving experience :/
As a truck driver I vibe with this. Something that bugs me is when four-wheelers are like, "thank God I passed him, I can finally slow down"
Kodi Lawson Sorry but my car is low and I like to be able to see more than 20 feet in front of me when I’m going 60+ mph. Plus it’s dangerous to be between two semi trucks. You can get flattened. I’ve seen a few fatal crashes that way.
@@angelgjr1999 go faster.. simple. If a semi isn't going 70+ in a 70 speed limit 99.9% of the time our trucks are governed at 65 or 66 so just go a consistent 67+ and everyone is happy
Quick question. Why is it that when two semi's get close to each other and one goes to pass the other they will almost always go the same speed for miles. Is this bc of the governer and if so shouldn’t the other semi driver slow down to let the other pass?
@@Mark-tf7kb It is, and the driver in the right is supposed to drop at least 1mph but you know how people are... I usually drop my cruise 1mph and it's over quick, the difference between passing at 1 mph and 2 mph is crazy
Not as bad as truckers who pass other trucks at .25mph faster than the other one. I think the net blame is largely on truckers. Too many non residents with cdls.
This should be played at all drivers education sessions nationwide.
Its too long. If it were maybe 5-10 minutes long then maybe..... But they still won’t because the number one rule for driving in America is Don’t Speed.
Drivers education has been discontinued in public schools ,so peoples can make money running driving schools.
Other than that you have to wait till 18 to take test without a driving school certificate
Robert Telles Sad world we live in. Also, do you think the 18 year old drivers that don’t get their certification are worse off?

My biggest pet peeve on freeways is when a driver merges onto the freeway with nobody in front of them and they immediately switch to the middle/left lane. I’ve had people cut me off before that way and they’re completely clueless.
