I learned the art of hunting from my Uncle when I was 11 years old 65 years ago and we only ever hunted for food or vermin and I have carried that doctrine my whole life .I suppose that was because I was taught that way from a young age .
I was taught by my Dad and he pumped it into me not to shoot the hinds as they were the breeders. Different thinking

Hey mate, we usually have a uhf call in every hour when apart. The gadget on my wrist is a remote for my Gopro.

Interesting to hear there isn't as much deer in the deep bush (I don't know what specific area you're in) Is that because most of them like the fringe of farmland?
It's a result of Sambar not naturally over populating where the feed won't allow it. They naturally disperse. Farm fringe allows for large populations to congregate on the improved pasture
