Testing out WestJet's transatlantic service onboard their 787 Dreamliner over to London Gatwick. This flight is a cheap alternative for travel to Europe, while also being comparable to mainline flag carriers like British Airways or Air Canada. With two meal services and a modern and spacious cabin interior, come see what it's like to travel to London on a budget!

Great job. Can't wait to get back to London this fall on the AC 787.
Gatwick has pretty good train connections straight through central London. I live the other side of London and whilst Heathrow is half the distance, Gatwick is quicker to get to by train.
Great trip report. You had a perfect wing view. I love the cabin of this 787
Thanks for watching!
going on this flight March 31st, cant wait!
I am such a nervous flyer and will be making this trip in the summer and this video me feel very at ease!
I’m glad! Safe travels!
Driving from Buffalo to Toronto to head to London next month. This video was great
Thanks!
great video
Love the video!
Thanks!
AWESOME
Great trip report man! What did you use to record this? The quality is great!
Thanks! For all the shots except the takeoff and landing wing views, I use my iPhone X. For the takeoff and landing footage, I use a Canon Rebel T4i
Gatwick is far easier to reach central London than Heathrow on the train. Don't take a cab! There's a train every few minutes. Much better than Heathrow Express which only goes to Paddington, or the really slow subway line.
Gatwick has a great conection to central London way faster than Heathrow and cheaper.
Nice trip report man I have a question did you got vaccinated from Covid 19 that means you were no longer required to Stay Quarantine.
This trip was taken pre-Covid!
Hi Will, I have a question about the IFE that wasn't covered. Do you know if there's an option to connect wireless headphones to the system? I'm flying this airline and aircraft in the next couple of months, and not know if I'll either take a wired pair of headphones or if I'll need to get a wireless Bluetooth adapter. Thanks
Hi! I don’t believe the entertainment system had wireless connectivity options, so you would need to bring a pair of wired headphones. Hope that helps!
@@WillAviation it does, thank you so much!
This has already been said, but yes Gatwick is much better connected to central london than Heathrow in terms of speed, and price i think. I'm doing this flight in reverse this july coming from the north east of england, the train to gatwick is actually cheaper than driving and parking.
Hearing this a lot in the comments (it appears I was wrong lol). I’ve always found Heathrow easier to access, but perhaps I was doing Gatwick the wrong way…
@@WillAviation to be honest, I've never actually flown into or out of gatwick, always manchester or heathrow, but I know gatwick well and yeah its definately the best connected london airport :) Hope you enjoyed your visit either way!
Hi there. Thanks for this great info. Did you notice any bathroom door noise in seat 23?
No noise that I can remember!
@@WillAviation thanks. Question unrelated but as a frequent traveller do you rent a car in Italy? If so can you recommend a good rental not too pricey if that's possible. And insurance seems to be quite confusing. Do you buy additional or go thru the rental agency?
I can’t comment on renting a car in Italy in particular, but when I travel and rent a car I tend to go through Avis / Hertz / Alamo / Enterprise - any of the big name brands. Insurance wise, it’s worth checking if your credit card that you use to book the car has rental insurance coverage. I typically rely on that if it’s good. Hope that helps!
Hello. Do you know by chance if you can connect your wireless headphones in economy? I've googled and find two different answers. I thought you might know. TIA
I don’t believe so, but it’s possible they’ve added this feature since I took the flight? This isn’t something I’m aware of though
What was the cost of inflight WiFi? They have multiple plans based on what you want to use but I don't remember the costs
I’m not super sure, but I believe it’s $10.99 for 90 minutes
Hello my friend, for transit passengers at London Gatwick Airport they have an international connecting flight and they are coming from an international flight. Do they need to pass through passport control and security to complete the flight, or can you go and change the plane without passing through passport control when I arrive at Terminal n and also depart from Terminal n with British Airways?
I haven't done a connection like this at Gatwick so I'm not 100% sure! But I believe you do have to clear UK passport control on arrival regardless
@@WillAviation My baggage will reach the final destination and I am traveling from Doha Qatar to Punta Cana Dominican Republic with British Airways and I have an hour layover to change the plane, the people beat me and they told me you will not pass through customs and passport security will remain in the international zone but I still have some doubts
@@WillAviation Does London Gatwick Airport have an international area like Heathrow
@@WillAviation Thanks for the reply
How many times did the guy sayin bro during takeoff say bro that flight lmao
too many...
Can i use a uk plug to charge my device or is it a special plug ?
I believe it was a universal outlet, so yes a UK plug should work!
What are you talking about, LGW is very well connected to London. Plenty of trains that take you to Central in 35 minutes
Little did everyone know what would happen in just 2 weeks after this flight
What happened?
???
@@marinaefina2888 Westjet dropped Toronto Gatwick
got anxiety for this flight, can you tell me how did the flight go? should I take any sleeping pills?
The flight was good! I didn't take any sleeping pills, but managed to get at least a couple hours of shut eye
😊
I've been planning my trip to London from Toronto for a year now during COVID as part of VISION 2022 but with testing requirements currently it is making it impossible. I'm hoping desperately they cancel testing for flights for fully vaccinated travelers in early 2022!
Are you able to close the window so you don't have to see out?
The dimmer allows you to make it fully dark!
@@WillAviation Thank you!
Are alcoholic beverages complimentary as well?
Yes I believe it is!
Hi thinking flying out with westJet this year August 2023 not sure about the foods it’s look gross…. Flying to Toronto from London
WestJet doesn’t operate flights to Europe from Toronto anymore unfortunately
@@nicktheophylactou oh that’s a shame thank you Nick
@@skim2946 You’re welcome
is meal free in this flight?
Yes
How much is the price for wifi?
I’m not exactly sure, and I also presume it’s changed since when this flight was flown. If someone here has a more recent experience I’d encourage them to let us know!
When was this video made because I noticed that no ones wearing a mask
March 2020!
@@WillAviation ok I see thank you
What’s seat number??
Seat 23A!
@@WillAviation thanks!
Let's not forget you're flying during covid I would say you're lucky to get what you did
This was recorded in February 2020
