I'm never away for long. When I go out, I tell them where I'm going so they know how long I'll be away. I never stay away overnight.
i tell my cat too i tell my cat im going to bingo
I always tell her I'll be back soon if it's just running errands. I also tell her how long I'm traveling for and who will be at home with her. She has no stress now.
Make sure your cat sitter is someone your cat knows, trusts, and likes. Also someone who will clean the litter, change it, check chow for mold or roaches, clean the food and water bowls, brush and actually spend time and play with them, and will watch your cat for injury or illness, and act accordingly. The last person you need is someone who just throws food in their bowl, adds clean water in a dirty bowl, then leaves. Or finally changes the litter the day before you get home. Know your cat sitter! ❤️
We never leave our car home alone over night. We have had to leave for vacations twice since we got her and both times we’ve taken her with us.
She’s got a shitton of stuff just for when we travel with her. She has a kennel, cat carrier, playpen, travel litter box and stroller. Her playpen is her favorite place to hang our when we travel.
She adjusts really well in a short amount of time as long as she has her playpen to use as a safe place in new surroundings.
After 50 years i can finally have a cat. Im so happy now. A feral cat adopted me and I'm loving him with all the love he deserves.
I had to leave my cats at home for a month for surgery and rehab. I live with a grandson, so didn't have ti worry about feeding, water, and litter problems, but I knew they would miss me. They always sleep on my bed at night, so when I left I didn't remove my sheets because I know cats have a good sense of smell. I wanted them to know I am still somewhere. When I came home, all six of them were asleep on my bed. They hadn't forgotten me. They kept rubbing against me, happy that I was back. I changed the bedding before sleeping because it had a lot of fur on it, but I believe that if you are going to be away for a long time you should leave items behind that have your smell on them to provide comfort for them until you return.
I was hospitalized for 8 days and while a friend stayed over a few nights and was over daily for food and water and litter scooping, I left a few tee shirts needing washing on my bed and living room ‘chair-bed’ and they were well used, judging by the cat hair left on them. Leaving caregiver-scented clothes around is both easy if not essential for Kitty’s emotional wellbeing.
Yes, I agree. I also leave my pajamas I have worn. I come home to furry sheets, too.
So glad you are ok. Yes they miss you❤
As far as blinds go, my cats just push them out of the way.
My husband had to leave our cat st the Vet for the day. He wrapped her in his big Canadian sweater. She stayed buried in it all day. The vet was impressed.
Last year I was unexpectedly in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. I hadn't planned on being gone so I didn't really prepare. I was grateful to have a friend go by every day to give them food and water and scoop out the litter boxes. She was only able to stay long enough to take care of those things so they were pretty much alone. It was really bad for one of my cats b/c she had belonged to my sister who had passed away less than 6 months before. My other cat basically followed me around and "yelled" at me for about 2 hours when I finally got home.
Last year we had to travel overseas to be with my mother in law, but before buying our flight or making any other arrangements, I needed to find someone who would stay in our home with our two young cats. I prepared and froze food for 36 days and had the person live with us and the cats for a few days and got them used to him feeding them rather than myself. Only this way could I travel with some peace of mind. And when we got back they were their happy usual selves and just as attached to us as when we left.
I work during the day when I come home she greets me at the door, continuous miaowing as of saying I’ve been waiting. Then I pick her up and then she continues to purring. She in reality is never a dull day.
Being a first time cat owner I'm happy watching these videos knowing I'm doing a pretty good job at making sure my boy is happy
Sometimes I leave my feline, for only 4hrs any longer a friend will come in. I'd never allow any stranger near my feline let alone on our territory.
Thank you, especially for explaining why water should be left far away from food bowl. I always wondered why cats love drinking from the sink and not from the prepared bowl.
Our 2 cats are very rarely home alone. Someone is home almost all the time.
I park a cat perch right by the window and having top-down, bottom-up blinds allows me to have a blind that’s up by ~8 inches so kitty can see outside. Works well and Kitty even snoozes on his window perch!
Oh, I had wondered why my cat displayed such different behavior after I was gone for a day. Thanks this is really helpful.
We always use a cat sitter. For longer times away, we have them stay overnight.
cats do seem to like the videos with squirrels, birds, etc. Just make sure they don´t knock over the screen!
I have a tv in the cat room (sunroom) that I often turn on for their entertainment.
One of the best cat vids I've come across on YT. Thank you 🧡🐱
Thank you for appreciating!
I put a lot of work and ALL my love for cats in these videos.
I try to make them informative but not dull. Give some tips, go into cat behavior and also some 'spiritual' elements.
Hope you keep following me.
Thanks again from the human (me - Elena ) and the furry house boss (Indi).
If I have to be away from home overnight or longer, my cat stays with a good friend, whom he knows well, at the friend's house. So he is in a home environment with a human caregiver, both of which he knows well.
Indi stays with my parents at their place. As you say, know the people and the house
@@wiseanimalschannel The best option I think, our cats are in a familiar stress free environment ane we have the reassurance of knowing that they are being well cared for.
If I leave my cat for three hours, she yells at me when I get home and insists I spend 45 minutes with her before she will settle down. No, I don't get to go on vacation.
Make sure they have a buddy, preferably a litter mate.
This is the problem I’m facing: I recently retired and want to do both adopting a cat and travel, but I can’t really do both. I don’t have friends in my area and the one that I do have can’t visit several times a day to feed, play, and scoop litter. I’m thinking the only things I can do is either get the traveling out of my system before adopting or paying for an experienced and expensive cat sitter while I’m gone.
Or maybe consider travelling to places you can take your pet with you? It might make the trips more expensive like having to find a place to stay on that accepts pets and you would need the right sort of cat(personally wise that is) that would enjoy going out with you but that you know wouldn’t run away, maybe trained to walk around with a leash outside? I can see a cat enjoying exploring new places instead of being stuck home all the time, he would definitely have an enriching life.
My two year old spoiled cat starts hollering (meowing quite loud and desperately) when she thinks she got left alone. My husband and the adult children will take off on errands and she doesn't know I'm in the computer room watching cat videos. We also have a German Shepard. I think they have separation anxiety as they wait at the front door together for the humans to return.
Oh dear..my cats love Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Or Siriusxm Buried treasure. I enjoy classical., if I left that on, they would think I had died… and I don’t have a TV so that is a no-brainer. But it works for us.
I haven’t had a holiday in 8 years because I don’t want to leave my babies ….. 🐾🐾
I can promise you, people in high rise apartments in NYC do NOT do this. The few owners I know that have a clear understanding if what is necessary do all of this.
Most cat owners do not and it is discouraging.
I love ❤️ my cat 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️ Gato
I have had cats most of my life and love them. This site is great and I still learn things that I didn't know. Thank you so much
Thank you for appreciating my videos. It means a lot to me. ❤
I like how the cat's first thought is "when will I get food?" before "when will my humans be back?"
I could never board my cats. I always get a pet sitter. I leave the TV on for my cat every time I leave. I assume its better for them than being in complete silence. My cats have a water fountain and muliple litter boxes. I scoop them daily. My cats own the windows which are never open. My elderly cat will yowl if its not with its friends. My cats have a very strict sced too. Now that I have more than 2 cats if I went anywhere I would need someone to stay with them here. They are my babies.
You sound like a great cat owner.❤
I leave the TV on sometimes thinking that it will make him feel better then being in complete silence too. I love it when i can find a animal show on because he be all off into it. It's hilarious to me😀
@@talenalewis1823 I put on cartoons for them haha. I dont know why. 4 of them are kittens, & im a single mom so maybe that explains it. I just know if its silence they are focused on every sound. Thats sad.
@@user-zr9nl2wl3o ♡ I try, I really do. I love them so much.
I leave the radio and lights on for my kitty. Still worry and miss her despite my wonderful neighbors checking in on her. ❤
Watching from Norway🇳🇴
Welcome to my channel.
My name is Elena and the furry one who says hello is Indi.
Hope you like our videos!
Thanks for this video. I don't go away often, but I needed these suggestions.
I put screening across my balcony railing so my 2 cats could not get out on the edge and bird spikes across the top of the rail so they can't hop on top of it.
Not sure about the spikes....
Great information. Confirms many of things I "thought" might be true.
We rarely travel.
SIGH, routines; retired recently and our four cats will make sure I'm up at 5 a.m.. SIGH double sigh. But it's o.k.. The cats (children) are so much happier having me around.
Lesson Learned, I don't train cats, they have trained me. Great joy to now spend more time with.
My youngest cat kept hopping on the top railing. The bird spikes have kept her off it, and the birds out. There is a tree right behind my balcony.
Good video
Don't get those autoscoop litter boxes. They are nasty. The clumps break up and stick to the side of the tray hole.
Hey... I stopt with the words that cats can be stimulated in the presence of other cats.
Yes some cats like that... other cats are neutral about an other cat in their presence, while the "owner" is on holiday.
Most of my cats did not bother so much, als long as my family seperated all cats (as I did) in different rooms, when eating their wet food. I only took about 5 till 10 minutes for my cat to eat what they wanted.
But if your family member takes more than about 15 minutes to provide all cats their foods, it will be good.
This is an excellent video 6/17/24
My male Pet cat Muthumani never wants to sit alone Healways likes my company. i never go to outside
Unfortunately my cat never comes out when the cat sitter comes. She is very shy. My cat sitter does change the litter box and feeds her daily. I know she misses me when I’m gone. I think it would be more stressful if I boarded her.
Cat sitter is perfect. If she is shy not much you can do about that.
Boarding, IMO, should be a last resort only if a cat is comfortable with it - and I have not, so far, heard of a single cat that is ok with it
1 of my cats likes to run away but she sometimes comes back
Huh?
I am not a ‘clean animal’!
Only humans “ worry. “ Cats can’t anticipate the future.
How do you know?
Of course they do! In any case: We are the parents. We are responsible, we must anticipate the future. Our cats have feelings, they’re not just a bunch of instincts in fur. There’s too many people who choose to ignore the emotional well-being of their cats.
Really? How do you know this? Where do you get your facts from?
Maybe you should take your cat on the trip to

My kitty cat 🙀 is cool alone. I level the TV on for my kitty cat.. and she sleeps alot
She wouldn't sleep so much if you gave her something to play with or do,
They sometimes sleep a lot if there bored. Try to play with her and keep her entertained with toys.
