That was a fair review. Thank you very much. As an owner of several Allen Edmond shoes purchased new14 years ago, including a pair of Daltons, I'd like to point out a few things: 1) My Daltons never squeaked; 2) The stitching on the right boot's pull-up handle gave way; 3) They are the most comfortable shoes I own, even when driving; 4) The size I ordered (13 1/2) was perfect because I'm able to tighten up the laces for a perfect fit during the summer when I typically lose a few pounds, and loosen the laces for a perfect fit in the winter when I gain back a few pounds---which I point out because my shoe size increases a 1/2 size in the winter. The Daltons I own are walnut colored. They look as stylish in jeans as they do in a $1K bespoke suit.

I have the same boots. Great for when my 1000 Mile Boots are too casual. After over a decade of wear, they look black.
Thanks for the video. I'm doing some research for an everyday boot to wear with jeans. As the Hamilton might be alittle too fancy for jeans, I appreciate your video because it gives some insight on the Allen Edmonds product. With that being said, I'm leaning towards the Thursday Captain, which you also mention. Thanks again.

I am relatively new to your channel and just subscribed. I have been moving over to Allen Edmonds as I have to replace shoes in the collection, especially Bostonian and Johnston and Murphy, which I have had for some years but not Goodyear welted like AE. I will only purchase quality leather shoes built the old-fashioned American way from now on. Like yourself, I also have purchased Thursday Captain Boots and like them with their quality and 360-degree Goodyear welt. At this point, I am weighing the Wingtip with Thursday Boots vs. Allen Edmonds Dalton Wingtip Dress Boot. The Allen Edmonds Dalton is leading the way due to their leather sole, which is my preference for footwear. I use Swims galoshes for those days when it is raining or when snow is on the ground. I live in central New England, where the weather is unpredictable.
I noticed one thing, when you wrap the strings around your ankle you should thread them through that back tab so they don’t work their way down.

Great review. I must say used driving moccasins and upon your destination, put your boots on. I have a pair of those and Paul Evans dress boots and it’s the same.

I currently own two pair of AE Dalton boots , one black and one dark chili . I find them extremely comfortable and stylish . As I own upwards of 34 pairs of AE boots/shoes and am so very happy with the styles and overall quality . In your video you questioned the American made status , well I’ve been to the factory and I gotta tell you the Dalton is 100 percent American Made ! I wear mine with jeans or dress pants and have never looked back , one pair has leather soles the other is Dainte , and yes the leather sole is a bit slippery in inclement weather .

They look pretty good, but AE used to make even nicer boot - Fifth Street Boot with oxford lacing, I wish AE was more available in Europe.

I watched reviews, read up on the Allen Edmonds manufacturing methods and history, it all sounded great. So I bought a pair of Chukka Boots, great product, great purchasing experience overall, I decided to buy more shoes. Bought a pair of Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots. I received 2 different color boots, also one of the boots seemed to be a different vintage or much older and had been on display for some time. Multiple price tickers attached and removed, physical dimensions were different, a different cut of the same style. I called customer service, they apologized and said they would send out another pair, free shipping. Got the next pair, shoes are with out a doubt reject, factory second shoes. I wear a size 9.5, the shoes I received are a size 8 or possible even smaller, but marked as a 9.5 D The shoes were also misshapen. The left looked like a right, the toe was curved outward. The worst quality I've seen from any shoe company, shameful quality.

@@gentwithin I was very surprised at what happened. But since then I have seen a few more reviews relating to the decline of Allen Edmonds shoes. It seems the company was sold and has been on a steady decline.

These are the perfect boots for the guy who does my taxes. He sits behind a desk all day, then goes home in an Uber. These boots are not meant for riding motorcycles, bar fights, running from the police, or any blue collar job. Ask me how I know.
