I just finished making this for my daughter’s upcoming 4th birthday. I expanded it even further to 7 double crochet stitches so she can hopefully grow into it for a long time, and for my last 5 rows (all 7 dc) and the fin I used a different color to make it pop from the general tail. I am absolutely thrilled and so grateful to have this pattern to work with. I can’t wait for her to open it up in a few more weeks. 😁
Hi Jenny I have just finished this mermaid tail tutorial for an 8 year old using 2 strands of fingering bamboo yarn...it came together beautifully and one very happy little girl.😊
I love your Mermaid tail. I made 2 of them for my granddaughters. Only thing different I had to do was go up 1 size on my hook. I crochet tight. So to get to 35 inches long I had to go up to 63 rounds. They came out beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern.
same here and i am nervous that mine is not wide enough... might have to frog and do again or turn my mermaid tail into a storage bag for my grandaughter
HI JEN 😊! I LOVE YOUR BEAUTIFUL MERMAID BLANKETS 💝! THE STITCHES YOU CHOSE ARE PERFECT & I LOVE YOUR PATTERNS! I THINK I'M GOING TO TRY & MAKE ONE FOR OUR 9 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER 😊💝. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING 😊💝!!!
Your instructions are so easy to follow. I just watched. I love this. I always wanted to make one but thought it may be too hard. Can you tell me how I could make this for a younger girl like 5 years old or 8 years old???
Jenny, this is just gorgeous! It's definitely on my to do list now. Thanks for all you do. I always get compliments on the items I make from your tutorials. 💙
You make an excellent Tutor, this video and step-by-step instruction are clear and easy to follow, thank you for sharing your talent, look forward to more amazing projects on your channel :-)
Hi Jenny hope you good love your tutorials please tell me if can increase more rows to make it bigger as I am using dk yarn I am from south Africa and we struggle to get worsted weight yarn
Do you have an adult pattern for this? Edit: Already watched the adult version for this mermaid tail tutorial. How many skeins of Red Heart Super Saver can I use? Im also 5ft tall. Love from the Ph 💕
Thank you my dearest, my 2 grand daughters always want me to make them a mermaid tail, and I just found your awesome tutorial and you got a new subscriber, 🎉🎊 I have lots of rainbow and Colorful yarns which will do justice to this beautiful pattern 👍❤❤❤❤💐💐🧚♀️🧚♀️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤ 🇨🇦❤ Thank you again 🧜♀️🧜♀️
Hello thank you for this beautiful pattern. I want to make 1 for me and 1 for my 5 yo daughter. Can I use the yarn in this video and follow the pattern for the adult size to make the blanket for me? Cause I find this yarn thicker than the Caron cake and that’s what I want. Or will it be too large?
This is an amazing pattern thank you so much. Making this for a friends daughter after finding the perfect yarn. What would be the best way to increase the shell pattern to increase the waist circumference? Thanks again so much!
Am I the only one who does not understand how to go on at the first increase of the shell stitches? The increase itself is fine but where do I put the sc in the 4 stitches of the shell stitch in the following round? Because I would have to at some point skip 2 stitches. Or do I make 2sc in the shell st and then 3 in when I have the 5dc shell st? Otherwise the tail would not get bigger in size, wouldn't it? Could not find any explaination in the pattern or the video.
I'm making this now. At this stage, row 14, I had to play that section a few times and zoom in while watching to figure it out. The colour yarn she uses is hard to see the stitches too. So, after your 14th shell in that row, slip stitch into the marker that marks the sc and the start of the row. Then make TWO slip stitches in the next 2 stitches. (Before it was one slip stitch) Your SC will then be done in the 3rd stitch of each 4 DC shell. I was wondering that too as SC is not in the middle of 3 stitches now. That way you still skip one, and 4DC into prior sc space. Hope this helps.
@@Shilo2020 Thank you so much Shilo! I freestyled it in the end because I needed to finish it quite quickly (it was for a newborn). I will definitely try again and come back to your comment because the design itself is awesome and the shell stitches are such a great visual for the project.
I was confused as well so I tried it both ways. You never have any more than 14 shells a row. It doesnt matter how many increases you do. So in order to do that you have to skip more than one stitch. And you will always have to do the double crochets in the single crochet space. Row 15 is the first row you stop the “skip one stitch between shells”. Hope this helps. 🙂
Its 3 yrs later but am making this now. That's exactly what I need to do because it's for my disabled sister in a wheelchair. I want an open seam at back in the top say 11 or 12 inches. This way her lower legs are wrapped say up to back of thighs, where It can be pulled under but then it acts like a lap blanket so you don't have to lift her bottom. Thing is, to go back and forth to leave an open seam instead of working in the round, I'm sure the shells will look different. I might have to add a separate piece.
So frustrated with all your patterns. I keep trying the different ones thinking this time it will work ... using same yarn and also upped my hook size to a K and there is no way a 10-12 year old will fit into this ????

I'm still new to crochet - will making the shell larger make the blanket larger or do I need to make the circle larger??

This was so easy to make,
Thank you so much!!
Hi! I would like to make this one for a 5yo. Can you please guide me how to and where to decrease?
You can just stop when it is the length that you want. Also using a smaller hook would make the overall blanket smaller.
Do you have an adult pattern for this?
Edit: Already watched the adult version for this mermaid tail tutorial. How many skeins of Red Heart Super Saver can I use? Im also 5ft tall. Love from the Ph 💕
Can you please tell me where you found the adult pattern? Thanks in advance

For those that have made this. Did you end up with a “joint” line running diagonally? I’m keep wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
Yes this happened to me as well. I had to frog the whole project. I’m going to redo the join and see what happens.
I have that same "joint line"
Make that the back of your tail. It's because every row, your slip stitches and starting SC gets moved over.
ありがとうございました。助かりました。❤😊
Thank you for this tutorial. Mine is wip😊
Wow. Nice job. Good as in tutorials in Cassiekoy Crochet channel.
How do you increase the shell stitch?
Thank yoh
I love this!! I will be making several!!
Yarn addict aka K lo Nooooooo

@@Anamaria17722 yes I Watched it and i read it later during the clarification. And have already started knitting. Thanks

I think i'm missing something....on row 15 do we still skip only 1 stitch between shells and sc???

I was so confused, took my work apart because I was afraid I missed something. Thank you for clearing all this up.
I crochet a lot tighter and I need to make mine wider. Any help?
Are you still having problems with tension? I would suggest using a bigger hook.
Wauw so pretty

Hi, Is the leg part open or not??
Thankyou
Jenny..
If I make this with a size 6 yarn will it be big enough for an adult?
Probably yes. This actually fits me just nice because I’m short. Just add extra rows to make it longer.
Thank you!! I love your work!! You are so talented and your voice is lovely!!💖
Thankyou so much this is lovely. Xxx q
Has anyone tried to make this open at the top back?
