      Penetrator omg I have so much ammo but this horde of bugs keeps getting bigger.
      The penetrator sucks with bugs. Use it on bots.

      With so many enemies with armor why is there all of 2 weapons that is higher than light armor pen? Slugger and this one wtf!!!!

    Its "armor penetration" is irrelevant when it doesn't do enough damage to capitalize on it.Its range is also irrelevant when most enemies, even bots, are trying to get right up in your cheeks. And the enemies that don't need to are going to be too much for this thing to handle anyway. 15 less rounds per magazine does not equate to higher ammo conservation whatsoever, especially with its worse damage stat. And frankly it doesn't make sense that a long barreled potentially higher caliber conversion rifle would do less damage per hit than its short barreled counterpart.

      I swear by this rifle over the Breaker after using it, I understand the less damage in the trade-off for penetration, as I get the idea of balance, it is no longer as good as a basic rifle versus simple enemies, but performs better versus armored enemies, it is not supposed to be an improvement but a tool for a particular job so I understandwhy the devs gave it less damage, it is an effort to balance or give an use case scenario, does less damage to AP rounds make sense? Kind of, yeah, as overstabilized and AP rounds often makes less of a damage on its way, I remember reading abouf 5.56 rounds being tested in several barrel configurations and it was found that giving some thumble to the round, although causing reduced accuracy and penetration, it would cause further damage on its way than an overstabilized round.

      Don't forget the Breaker's best ability: Crowd Control. Nothing like sweeping aside a horde of hunters about to overwhelm you from that bug hole at your feet.

      Yeah like to make it good is ever up the damage or give it a auto function like sure bust helps with ammo but you need to think how much do I spend until I get a ammo pack so having more magazines and be burst or semi it’s really bad

      It is really good if you can play on range and are not swarmed and have time to kneel, because it has good ammo economy. But on 7+ this stops.

      Ive been using the diligence and i like it significantly better than the breaker, even on helldive difficulty. It one-shots almost all of the basic infantry, has similar ammo to the liberator, and can be used accurately at ranged that enemies wont try to engage if you headshot the small fries for insta kill

    I am just going to say this:
    The best build is to get 3 other people with you.
    And have fun.
    At this point, that should be the primary thing as a community, having fun in a game. Now sure, some tools are better at certain things than others,
    But if someone has fun with the LAS5-Scythe, then they have fun with it. The breaker is powerful, but personally, I found that I enjoy the Liberator and the Diligence (and all their variants) more. They’re not more powerful, but for me, I enjoy them.
    Sure there is a case of bringing the right tools to the right situation, but whatever you have fun with, you have fun with.
    The moment someone starts to replace fun with meta… it kinda defeats the point of the game.

      I love seeing diverse teams, just use whatever weapon you like the most. Personally I love the recoilles and autocannon. The EAT is awesome too

      Such a pointless comment, some peoples idea of fun isn’t the same as yours, if that’s fun for you nice, but other people like playing on the max difficulty and winning consistently, and regardless of how good you are there are certain stratagems and guns that just will not do anything on 9

      @@GrimmToastyou do realize that not everyone has fun in the same way right? For some people picking a shitty gun that is cool and playing on difficulty 4 is fun, for others playing the hardest difficulty and winning is what makes the game fun, and it makes sense that “meta” or stronger weapons would make that task easier. It’s like you think every player is the same as you or something, not everyone values the “gun feel” when it comes to having fun in a game.

    Best team build vs bugs ive used so far, is 3 dudes running arc throwers and jet packs, 1 dude with a rail gun and a ammo backpack... sense the arc throwers do damage to literally everything, no matter its armor, they can focus chargers and the like while completely destroying all the small shit nearby and the railgun guy just makes sure the big stuff dies faster.. we slaughtered helldive difficulty by fighting, not running around solo.... You'd think the shield would be better, but the jet pack allows you to kite infinitely and it lands you at the perfect distance to get off a perfect arc thrower shot.. not that we really had to do that much.. 3 arc throwers is absolutely insane

      @@urban-anomalyyou need to master the half charge , it will give you insane levels of horde clear and target priority , it does aim at what you are pointed at first before it goes to the next.
      generally speaking you can take on practically any enemy including hulks and tanks with good pace. though ill admit it can be abit janky with terrain fucking up shots (not unique to the arc thrower either , ive had railgun and autocannon shots ate up by invisible barriers here and there)

      Meh, it’s crap to a breaker. Smg would be cool if robots weren’t just armies of tanks with rocket launchers. That pretty much makes the shield one giant rocket target.

      @@reaper_exd7498 I've seen clips of people 2 tapping Devastators with SMG headshots. Strider pilots can also be 1-tapped and Berserkers can be burst down while retreating. The SMG is very accurate and the damage is good if you can line up your shots with their weakpoints.

      @@reaper_exd7498The SMG lets you move at full speed while hipfiring so you can retreat while shooting at full speed. the ONLY thing the breaker has going for it is raw DPS, and you just know it's going to get nerfed along with the railgun and mortars.

      @@krazyivan9733 I wouldn't say it's only benefit is raw dps. I actually really like the defender, but the thing that's good about the breaker is that it'll 1shot scavengers and 1-2 shot hunters. It's good because you can single fire it accurately and take out a whole swarm of bugs with less than a clip. Being able to eat a whole clip into a large target is nice in an emergency, but not really the weapon's purpose. The only time I really appreciate it's raw dps is against stalkers. Otherwise, it's the low-recoil, high damage, precise single-fire that will shred all the little shits that overwhelm you. Because most of the time, those are more dangerous than the big enemies.}
      I also like the defender, because it's good for the same thing, it just accomplishes it with a bit more wasted ammo, and requires less precision. It won't kill as many enemies per clip, but the extra mobility makes it probably equal.

    I used the penetrator most of tonight with my brother and some randoms. I need my breaker to actually kill stuff. I thought the medium armor damage would have been worth it, but when I can't even kill some of the light armor bugs that my pistol could...The breaker is the only way to deal with those big swarms. Even if I need to raid more ammo from different stops. I don't care about the meta, I only care about taking out the bugs and bots. The bots will see me trying the scorcher when I get it, but when I'm carrying a grenade launcher or railgun to cover the team I need to be able to save myself. Even the 'takes forever to reload' P-4 senator does a better job of taking down Brood Commanders compared to the Penetrator. Same for Hunters and Warriors. Taking 2 clips worth of bullets is not helpful. Until I can get similar killing power to the Breaker, I need it for survivability. I'll leave assault rifles and other weapons to the rest of the team.

      use breaker : shot full mag and kill one shielder of automatons, maeby kill one guy. Pene libe : Shot 10-15 shtos max in head or weaqk point and it die . :D

      If you are more interested in horde clearing (the lib pen is obviously meant for medium size enemies) try the sickle.
      I ran breaker for a long time but it just didn't have quite enough after the clip size reduction. I'd have to reload even against smaller patrols. The sickle covers all the hunters and scavs you can find plus does a pretty decent job at brood commanders and bile and nursing spewers. It does suffer against titans and chargers, but so does the breaker so who cares?

      @@robertheimbach419 I do run the sickle at times, but personally, the shotguns are better for me. I tried the penetrator with bots, and the semi auto and burst just doesn't work for me. I either need the rest of the team distracting or to be running heavy armor when using it. Given how some battles end up, I trust having to reload a clip of shotgun shells, or one bullet at a time cause I know when the little guys or even the jet pack guys get close I can put them down in a single shot. Even with other shooters I've learned that I'm better off CQ. Given I'm also trying to hit up all the minor points of interest I'll usually find excess ammo. Given I run the jetpack most of the time along with whatever special gun is needed (GL most of the time but also laser cannon when fighting bots) the lightweights will be my problem most of the time.
      I understand the penetrator can be good with headshots, but I'm nowhere near good at sniping.

      @@hikikomori2452 are you talking abt the scythe in helldivers 2? If I remember correctly the sickle was a different laser weapon in the first game that fired individual shots instead of a continuous beam, like a pulse rifle or something.

    I really wanted to like this gun but you have better options still unfortunately... Slugger and Diligence would still be more ammo conservative and has way more kill potential. Slugger without armor pen still 1 to 3 taps most light armor targets from raw damage plus stagger. Diligence can 1 to 2 tap face plates on all but the heaviest automatons.

    3:44 you can't say the liberator is good... then show how an entire magazine still can't kill the armored spewer. Just use a different gun for that.
    Breaker isn't a catch all that can kill everything. It's really good at hitting unarmored stuff, like when you expose the legs of a charger.
    Show me how fast you can kill a charger after being 2 shot by a railgun to the leg

      I think the dominator is good with good aim, only down side to it is the little bugs, I feel like the point of your team using different guns is so they can focus on different enemies, like when my teammates was running the breaker and I ran the dominator I focused on the like armor little bugs and would kill them each in like 1 or 2 shots in the head. And since my teammates had the breakers, all the little swarm guys couldn't stop us, well until we split up and I was left alone, then the dominator turned into crap because I was wasting all my ammo on the small swarm dudes

      If you don't suck at aiming it doesn't take a full mag to kill a brood commander. Even better you can shoot it in the head rather than trying to get behind it. The dominator is amazing for medium armor enemies, just sucks against smaller ones. The Penetrator is a in between gun that's decent at both. This is why you have teams.

      I think Dominator and Breaker are the two good guns.
      Dominator is like the slugger, but better.

    The AR-23P is a huge disappointment in the game, it is supposed to have medium armor penetration, but it barely scratches armor.
    It is the most overrated weapon I have ever used in this game, you'll have a better time with the AR-23.

    look at these divers thinking like individuals, this is not the way to liberation. Each weapon is good at something, stratagems and fellow divers fill in the voids. There is no best loadout, just what is best for the mission. Penetrator is good for armor but not so good on soft without headies. Breaker is good for soft but not armor. It's a game of builds and playstyles. There is no competition, there is no meta, there is only liberation. Find out weaknesses, find out how you like to play, make a build based on that. Or have each member specialized in different tasks and rely on each other.

    The fact that so many people are willing to argue over what's best tells me things are way more complicated and situational than anyone really wants to acknowledge. Like, I wouldn't use this if I were running an Autocannon (and I'm a big Autocannon guy, so Breaker it is most of the time), but if I wanted a medium armor solution while running Recoilless, railgun, or the Spear, then situationally this or the Diligence makes the most sense, and that will even end up coming down to what you want. If you run the machine pistol as your secondary, then you have something to deal with close encounters and the Diligence is probably your boy, but I know a lot of people love the Senator revolver and there frankly the LibPen makes the most sense to get some flex between crowd killing and armor piercing. Like, a single Diver can cover all roles but generally can't do so comfortably, so even if the Breaker is the best gun on paper if it's not solving pain points in your loadout then leave it in the locker and bring something else. I mean hell, even the Explosive Liberator has uses to do things like stunlock burning enemies if you're running a flamethrower or damage weakpoints if your call-in weapon of choice is like a HMG or Stalwart, and if you've seen damage comparisons for the weapons, on paper the Explosive Liberator is hands down the worst weapon in the game.

      The devs have come out and stated there are 50 individual stats for each weapon and are much more balanced based on those stats rather than the 4 we see

    I just did a dif 4 exterminate mission as someone who can reliably do 7+ with a good squad (better with comms)
    this thing takes the entire fucking mag to kill the green bile spewers and I got out of that mission with 1 reinforcement left cause it takes I swear like 14 rounds to kill a basic warrior, around 2 or 3 bursts to kill even the small stalker guys if you dont get a shot square on the head (spoiler, quite hard when it's chaotic, they jump around alot and the gun you're using isn't the single most stable thing known to man)
    frankly the burst fire for all of the weapons is just weird, you have to hold the fire button the entire way through the burst, let go and then press again to shoot, human reaction times + even a tiny bit of lag means you're going to be thrown off as to when you need to release or press to get the full burst, theres basically no difference between spam firing in semi and burst other than burst cutting down a few miliseconds between your clicks but at that point why remove full auto? like I legit saw this video as i was going to sleep, saw what looked like full auto which confused me cause when I first used it there was no full auto, got out of bed, booted up helldivers and did specifically a dif 4 mission for the hope of finding the spewers. then somehow hated it more and more after only a few minutes, like look at the clip at 3:43. you're just laying into that spewers face, sure not 100% headshots but they're hitting AND IT STILL DOESN'T DIE, same with the clip at 4:18 you used the ENTIRE CLIP on a single spewer and theres a very good chance if you get one of these in a mission >dif 6 you've got 3-6. this isn't a case of "oh I like the breaker cause hur dur meta hur dur 2000 DPS" no like how tf does this gun not feel like shit to use for you guys?? like no seriously I'm legit asking cause I'm so confused, it can't just be a different mindset/perspective cause to me it feels objectively terrible to use. I tried the slugger recently (mainly cause I only got it recently despite being lvl 37) and it's surprisingly good for a round reload gun, will def use it for a while cause the breaker is boring after 40 hours of just using it. the lib pen tho? why? even the basic lib is better, sure no medium armor pen but basically all of your support weapons have upwards of medium pen so use those for spewers instead, simple
    ok rant over I'm in that can't sleep cause it's 5am mindset and this video thoroughly confused me in alot more ways than I'd expected. please genuinely tell me why you use this gun and how it somehow doesn't feel terrible to you

      I definitely hated the LibPen for a long time, but I've been using it as my go-to primary against bots. As a solo on mid difficulties, it's a solid choice for mid-range engagements. The anemic damage means that you *need* to hit weak spots for reasonable TTK. The rate of fire and magazine cap make it more forgiving in close range fighting than the Diligence. The LibPen isn't a great weapon, certainly not better than the Breaker (as much as I dislike the Breaker), but it's not complete garbage. If it had the same damage as the base Lib, it'd be great.

      There is a reason why the meta is the meta. People trying to shoehorn worse guns into the "meta" is so unnessesary. Just wait for a balance patch. Take what ever is most fun but dont act like any gun can compete with the breaker.
      Took the liberator penetrator out against the bots. Better against those than bugs but still not meta or anything.

    Oh yes there are meta kickers, they exist, I had a pug party purposely complain about my weapons, which I ignored but towards the end they killed and kicked me during extraction.

    I think a large issue with the "meta" stuff is not really the damg. I see a lot of post and videos like this point these things out on how X weapon is better then the meta weapon cause it can kill Y thing faster or has this utility in Z situation. For instance you could make the argument the autocannon is better then the railgun cause it can 2 tap a charger where the railgun needs 3 shots.
    The issue comes down to ease of use and overall usefulness is different situations. As per your examples yes the liberator can blow through those bugs armor however both those bugs are just as easily killed from the front even with the breaker do to the unarmored bits like the legs being exposed from the front also. The flamethrower is great at ignoring armor however it takes like 2 tanks to kill a crusher, you move at like 50% speed while using it and risk lighting yourself on fire do to the spray hitting the ground and you needing to run/dive around to avoid acid/charges. The autocannon you also need to duck and dive out of the way and then perfectly aim at the joint from the back to break the shell and then tap it once again in the leg meat.
    The railgun can just stand there drooling shooting mobs from the front ignore all of those downsides shooting the things. It might not be better damg wise but it is better ease of use wise this is the "weapon balance" I hope they do not just tweaking numbers give the other weapons more perks. Autocannon a armored mob like a charger in the head? It now stuns it as if the charger rammed into a wall giving you and your team a opening to get behind it and shoot the meaty bits. Flamethrower now staggers or stuns mobs and also will cause them to actively avoid areas on the ground that are on fire making it a useful tool to help your team retreat by backpedeling burning the ground behind you making them chase in a wider arc.
    The sniper rifle/rail gun should have similar roles however the sniper rifle penetrates armor and does high damg to the target hit where as the rail gun will penetrate armor but do less damage however have the added bonus of penetrating a target hitting things behind it also.

      I like the autocannon over the railgun because it means I don't need to constantly supply myself with grenades to take out bug holes or eggs, it shoots straight so I can take out Spore Spewers and Illegal Broadcast Stations from anywhere I have line of sight, and it does decent damage to medium-armoured creatures. Oh and because at least 1 other person on my team is gonna use the railgun so why double down on something that can already get the job done by itself.

      @@Wolf37f you have to hit the back of the front leg around the joint after it charges by you, That will knock off the armor on it allowing you to shoot the leg and kill it.
      Hence it being "stronger" but far more of a pain to use over the railgun
      You can more or less just google autocannon vs charger to see videos of where to shoot it.

      Makes sense,and yes it would be helpful for heavy impact weapons to caues some sort of stun even if it didn't kill/penetrate/destroy armor. But the only thing you're wrong in is that the butt of the charger is it's weak spot. It's not. It's the legs. Remove 1 leg out of 4 (Which has less HP than the butt) and it dies.

    The BREAKER is great for Automatons but not so much against a horde of bugs. I use Assault weapons or the Laser Gun for Bugs.

    Unlocked this excited that I would finally have something about armor, turned out to be an absolute letdown. Yes, it does penetrate medium armor, HOWEVER, the beyond useless damage and magazine size means you can maybe take down 1 or 2 enemies, which is horrible. Yeah you can shoot armored Spewers and Hive Guards in the head and kill 1 of them with an entire magazine, OR you can just shoot at their sides with teh Breaker and kill it in less....Unless you want to snipe this thing halfway across the map the range argument doesnt even come into play because the Breaker has such a huge dropoff range and tight spread you can headshot anything either way.
    I REALLY hate how all the weapons are just modifications of something, 99% of the time useless compared to the standard weapon.

    This isn’t really true besides the ammo economy, because there are plenty of stratagem weapons that will do everything the breaker can’t. Especially the railgun, it has insane armor piercing, great range, and is genuinely insanely fun, playing on unsafe mode is great high risk high reward too. I also recommend the flame thrower which bypasses armor, demolishes hoards, but it doesn’t solve the range problem and fire damage isn’t great against automatons. I would use the liberator penetrator but the way it fires in bursts is so annoying that anyone who uses it is committing treason!

    I’ve found that using shotguns is best for terminids, the crowd control that shotguns have is why. I usually run the breaker or the breaker incendiary, and for hive guards aim for their arms/armpits/necks because those are the soft spots when facing head on. For more heavily armored targets like bile spewers bring the rail gun, one clean shot to the head is all it takes. To keep you alive when your being swarmed by hunters or have to reload bring shield generator pack, and me personally I make myself the heavy killer for the team so the stratagems I bring along with the two previously mentioned are orbital rail cannon and orbital laser, to handle multiple chargers or titans. For automatons I do use assault weapons such as the penetrator, og liberator, or dominator, I find assault rifles way more effective and reliable for the bots, but with the same stratagems to handle the hulks, tanks, and turret cannons. Although you can get away with substituting the shield generator sometimes for something else like a cluster when fighting the automatons. This is what has been working best for me, without watching any meta build videos.

    So, before this recent breaker nerf:
    3:44 - you take a little over a mag to kill that bile spitter where breaker would have killed it in a mag to the body
    4:01 - that bile spitter doesn't die even though there are 2 of you shooting it. breaker kills it in 1 mag to the body even from that range
    I will give you that the penetrator is better at those small armored dudes that hunker down when shot. Typically with breaker I shoot it between the blades a few times and it's fine though
    4:56 - that small guy and anything his size or below gets 1 shot by breaker from any range when it took you 3 bullets
    So i disagree that the lib pen is better than (pre nerf) breaker. But you're right that you should use whatever weapon you like most

    Why do people hate on the plas1 so much. It has the same ammo as the dominator and is better at taking out spewers and walkers. (it only takes 2 shots for walkers and five headshots to kill a spewer) Every spewer I saw you take on by yourself took an entire mag to take it down and that's just not viable when you have 6 or 8 of them on you at a time. I mean ill give it another try even though I have a few times already. To be clear im not saying its a bad weapon just not as good as other options for the high diffs. Also why can't it just be full auto? It already is half ass full auto since you have to hold the trigger down to complete a burst, I just don't see why it needs to be burst when full auto would be so much easier to use. Edit (went back to use it again it can't kill a berserker with a full mag to the head its trash)

    I'll say the same thing that I told my friend who always uses the lib-pen. If you like it, cool, use it, the group will take that into account and focus up to help carry their severe lack in damage and stopping power that it has.
    At the end of the day -
    Breaker: 330 damage per shot x 16 shots per mag= 5280 total potential damage per mag (always semi auto single shot marksman style shooting for ammo conservation)
    Lib Pen: 45 dam per shot x 30 shots per mag = 1350 total potential damage per mag (always semi auto for precision and ammo conservation)
    The lib pen goes through armor, sure, but it only tickles things with 45 damage per bullet. The dominator at least does 200 per bullet with med armor pen. In the end, the weapon balance is broken just like with the armor and we should all be patient and wait for the devs to put out the balance patch they say is coming.

    Won’t lie, penetrator is good if you go into higher levels for dealing with more armored targets. Breaker burns ammo like nothing. Mixed squad comp between breaker, penetrator, and defender is really good.

    Frankly, I've never been a fan of the breaker. It's pretty terrible unless if you're within fart smelling distance of your target, and the best defense against all enemies is being outside of their optimal attack range. The base liberator is my preferred weapon against the bugs as it has high ammo, great DPS, great accuracy, and you can wipe out entire squad with a single mag at 100m.
    I do see the advantages of the AP version, but I run the autocannon as my support weapon, so 2 tapping pretty much everything at the limits of LOS (including hulks but short of bio titans) means that I don't really need a primary with AP. Not to mention that the autocannon can take out plenty of objectives from a distance as well.

    I've been running it for weeks and when I switched to the sickle I was shocked by its inability to punch through hive guardian head armor. I love the way the LP can take down a bile spewer or even a bot walker (mid armor just above the legs) with just a few bursts and from a good distance.

    Something I've been using is the Laser Canon which seems to actually do some good damage to Charges if you hit the legs (though honestly it may not hurt bile titans haven't gotten to confirm that one yet), Scythe, laser Guard Dog. Switching between your two lasers and with the guard dog it's really easy to absolutely tear through hordes of enemies and they're all really easy to hit with the precision of the lasers. You can even hip fire and scorch most small chaff really quickly and easily circumvent the hive guards by just shooting at their gap in the armor. This isn't as effective against automotans but it's still not that bad either as you can really snipe out units from a far and they're all actually pretty squishy. The laser canon saws berserkers in half. The game's variety is already pretty good, there are just a few outliers that are too weak or too versatile.
    edit: tested the laser canon and it was able to pop the head off a brood commander in roughly 3 seconds, maybe less cause I missed due to a flinch in the EMS. That was barely any heat build up on a normal planet to.

      This is especially good on cold planets were you can use the laser cannon for longer periods of time because of the reduced heat build up. The opposite is true for hot planets which nerfs this play style. I'd say the most important part of running both laser weapons is that if you play it well you can go the entire match not needing resupplies which helps the team who may be using weapons with low ammo efficiency.
      Too bad the orbital laser is the antithesis of the other laser weapons. Since it only has three uses compared to the laser cannon, scythe, and guard dog having effectively infinite ammo.

Yeah it's not great on hot planets but I made it work on Hellmire once (I quick played and didn't pay attention lol) It's a great way to let your friends eat up ammo all they need and basically have a floating spare resupply box (though if no stim boxes have been found sacrifices will need to be made, for democracy)

      I'm curious, have you felt like the laser cannon does more damage than the regular laser rifle? I ran both a few times just to see what it was like, and it felt like the laser cannon didn't really kill things faster, but maybe had a larger heat capacity? It could also be that my aim is trash, and made worse by the laser cannon's kind of sluggish feeling aiming speed, and the scythe was more forgiving for me.

    I was excited for the Liberator penetrator for dealing with more heavily armored targets when dealing with Automatons on high difficulty, it just doesn’t have the damage output I need it for unlike the R-63 Diligence. What hurts more is the fact that despite Diligence being a marksman rifle, it fires light armor penetrating ammunition with high damage while the AR23P Liberator Penetrator penetrates medium armor but for low damage. Yeah, right, you are telling me something with enough power to penetrate medium armor can’t do much damage? When you look at the first acquirable shotgun vs the breaker, the damage difference is only 30 when both run damage over 300 anyways, the damage difference is negligible in comparison. But if we were talking DMRs, there are either going to be with a longer barrel and other modifications for better range or the same option but with a lighter caliber cartridge for more stopping power, the example of such would be the FN SCAR, whether it is the SCAR-L or SCAR-H, the LB variants of them in addition to any other modification could cause them to be considered DMRs but at least the SCAR-H is upscale to fire 7.62 for more penetrating and stopping power.

    In games I usually go by what looks cool as opposed to what the meta is, so trust me when I say I was REALLY looking forward to the Liberator Penetrator. It was my entire motivation for the grind. I didn't even look at its stats.
    I cannot tell you how endlessly disappointed I felt when I equipped it for the first time. I played a couple of hours with it, I tried to make it work, I really did. But in its current state it is not a good gun and I gotta disagree with almost everything you said here Bleeby.
    Why is the upgraded version of the base rifle equipped with LESS fire modes than the original? And why the FUCK is it BURST ONLY? Seriously? Burst fire? What a way to absolutely kneecap an already weakened gun. If it at least had full auto I could overlook its drawbacks and compensate by rate of fire, but with BURST? WHY?
    Then there's the fact that it is weaker than the base assault rifle in every possible way. Yeah there is absoluitely no reason to go into the 50 or so "hidden stats" we don't know much about yet. All we know is that compared to the Liberator the LP actually deals less damage overall. This, together with its reduced magazine and increased recoil are obvious attempts to "balance" this hunk of garbage because of its increased armor penetration. But you essentially end up with a gun that CAN punch through slightly thicker armour, but overall deals so little damage that it is entirely pointless. With the Automatons, you still need to aim for the weak spots, you cannot kill a medium sized enemy with body shots even with the increased armor penetration. The only enemy actually threatened by it is the Hive Guardian, and only because it is incredibly slow once you take shots at it. But even so, 9/10 times that thing is not alone. It is either with other Guardians or a swarm of bugs, so dumping 21 bullets into one to kill it leaves you with a basically empty clip while you are getting absolutely overwhelmed by the enemy.
    As for the bile spewer, you just need to look at the video you showed. In most cases an entire mag to the head was not or just barely enough to take one down, and if you didn't have a shield equipped (which is also a current meta item btw just like the breaker) you would have been done for before you took out the spewer.
    Then there's the increased range and less damage drop off. Which is great in theory but when do you EVER engage in long range fights in this game consistently?? The bugs are on you in seconds and if you are facing more than one bot you are already being outgunned. 98% of the fights take place directly around you.
    I am serious. I tried keeping it long distance a hundred times but unless you are fighting a single bot the rest will close in on you. Or if the have rocket devastators just snipe you across the fucking map anyway, no matter the distance. And you know what? The breaker is even viable long distance. You definitely won't take out 6 enemies with it but I sniped a rocket devastator from about 150m away cause it has absolutely no spray and you can just hit the head with enough shots.
    I just took the LP for a spin an hour ago and then swapped to the breaker the next game and it was night and day when it came to the overall quality and difficulty of the game.
    There is undoubtedly a problem with the weapons right now. The warbond progression is completely fucked, I can't think of another time where weapon progression was this unrewarding. The upgraded and enhanced versions of the base guns (Spray&pray, Counter Sniper, LP) are all, without fault, inferior versions of the base models. They got absolutely stoned in an effort to keep the "balance" in a game where stuff like the Railgun and Breaker exist.
    And I'ma be real with you, the last thing I wanted after ~40 hours of grind for that gun was that it underperforms this badly. And if I look at all the other guns I have unlocked since then they aren't much different either. They all got some messed up quirk that was so obviously put there intentionally that it just hurts.
    I wanna play what "feels fun" as Pilestedt has said, but right now it's not fun to pick a weapon for its looks that is just a giant handycap in any difficulty above hard.
    Please just buff the LP and add full auto

    If you're a fan of the railgun, run the slugger pump action. it's easily my favorite gun in the game as a DMR/Sniper user in most games, the slug shotgun is a better sniper than any of the actual DMR's and 1 shots 90% of bots in the head like the railgun, exceptions being the HULK. everything else is a 1 tap with good enough aim. and about 64 rounds total without magazines to load, and insane capacity, I love this future Keltec with slugs.

      yeah its really good, the stun effect it has on bugs is so mf op. Those green bile spitters never get off their spit attack with the slugger, you can lockdown 3 or 4 of them at a time depending how good your aim is. ITs 4-5 shots to kill in the head and stuns each shot so op. Oneshots any bug in the head minus stalkers and brood commanders but even then the stun effect makes them unable to do anything.

    I really like all the weapons (except the Spray and Pray). I don't blame anyone for liking the Breaker a lot because it does what it's advertised to do which is breaking crowds. Against bugs which have lots of little guys and medium guys with little armor that is super useful. So here's a little list for everyone for the good qualities of each weapon instead of nitpicking the cons.
    Liberator is versatile, dependable, and has a high fire rate.
    AP Liberator is great against medium armor enemies such as Hive Guard, Bile Spewers, Devastators, and others. Especially armored limbs.
    Explosive Liberator has some insane pushing power against bugs (you can force Stalkers and Broodmothers to push back) which is great to give you room to breathe for support weapon usage and against bots it will cause Devastators to flinch really hard.
    The Knight has an extremely high firerate and ammo count which you can leverage against weakspots while maintaining a jogging sped. Or mag dump into an enemy like the Machine Pistol.
    Defender is a high dps, steady firerate smg that is plenty useful in staying as fast as you can be with the jogging benefit to reset your stamina.
    Diligence is great for those who can get the headshots against bots and bugs alike, and the hair trigger fire rate is nothing to scoff at in CQC situations.
    I haven't used the Counter sniper variant.
    Punisher is a good weapon for insta killing small units and constantly pushing out firepower as long as you keep reloading in between your movements.
    Slugger is awesome against almost all enemies but especially medium armored enemies since it hits like a fire truck and flinches enemies hard too. Same thing with the constant reloading to push out lots of fire.
    Breaker is awesome at the trash mobs and for burst damage especially against armor peels on enemies.
    Breaker incendiary can whittle down any horde while delivering a huge cone of Dragon fire rounds. It can also fire fully automatically with the right trigger pulls.
    We don't talk about the spray and pray.
    Dominator is an absolute juggernaut of a weapon that can tear up bots if used by a skilled Helldiver and it crunches medium enemies for bugs as well.
    Scorcher is reputed to be really good against bots and armor with its little aoe.

    I unironically prefer the diligence over every other gun in most bot cases, but will use the breaker in rescue missions and the defender in bug missions. like many said before me, the lib pen kinda just tickles the enemies, it can pen harder enemies for sure, but i already have a support weapon for that, and i need my primary to quickly an efficiently take out the small fry. that being said, i hate the whole "meta" idea for a game like this, enjoy what you enjoy, the point to a game is to have fun, if someone prefers a specific type of gun, thats the whole reason its in the game, so have fun with it :D (also i LOVE the autocannon and prefer it over the rail gun)

    I started using this gun the other day and have been really enjoying it, exploring new options after the breaker nerf. I am really happy with it so far, though I can't tell if the reload takes a little longer than the breaker, which can be rough when you get swarmed. Love being able to blast away at armored heads from afar though! I also really like being able to combo it up with the grenade launcher and supply pack! So much ammo for swarms and medium armor pen. and friends!

    At higher difficulty the liberator burns through ammo far faster than the breaker. Which might just be a bug and we need to wait for them to rebalance the weapons. Until then it’s shotty or smg for me.

    When I first unlocked the penetrator at level 30 something I didnt initially liked it, I picked it back up at 48 after switching between the slugger and smg37 and breaker. Instantly fell in love with it, yea you can burn a whole mag on one small enemy but if you really pace yourself and aim for those weakpoint the AP goes so far on damage compared to everything. But what I love most over what it has over the breaker is the pure flexibility. Yes you can shoot far with the breaker but does your scope zoom from 25m, 75m, to 150m? Does your trigger pull burst so you can leave it on burst and still tap fire. This thing just has the cqb and instant sniper range flexibility I don't think any other weapon really has and that sold it for me.

      I fight bugs so idk what I need to snipe for. I’m sure this is better for bots. Also the burst is redundant. Breaker is auto, and you can tap fire for semi while on auto. I’m sorry bro this thing does no dmg, I wish the lib pen was better cause it looks so cool but I rly hate it.

      @@agedgouda8809 If you kite correctly, and have any experience with light armor you would instantly know you can gain distance on a horde and need they range to snipe as the advance. Or to even support a teammate from a distance who is trying to catch up. So what are you on about man? The flexibility of the rifle to rip through armor up-close and hold its own in cqb and instantly transition to ranged targets holds it above the rest. As for the damage it's a multiplied based weapon with high weakspot multiplier, you can 1 shot any small enemies 2-3 shot mediums, you just need to learn your weakspots and aim correctly, as for the full auto excuse there is no limit on the burst of the liberator and you can easily achieve basic full auto. It's one of only 4 weapons with a 4x weakspot modifier, if you think it does no damage it's cause you can't aim. Sorry.

Also even in the video showcasing how good the gun is, he’s dumping entire clips into bile spewers and not killing them. The damage rly feels lackluster.
      And kiting properly has never netted me sniper levels of range where the breaker would be useless and I need a magnified scope to see and hit my targets. At that point, I’ll be far enough away enemies will just deaggro. Helping teammates from a distance is a good point tho, doesn’t happen often but I can think of times where a visible teammate was far enough away I didn’t bother shooting at their targets to help them. Even tho I know if I had the lib pen in those situations it’s low damage would barely help them

      @@ZecrOfficial I just did some quick math, lmk if this seems accurate. I’ve never heard of the weak spot weapon multiplier before but I see it in the video and found it on reddit so ig let’s assume that’s accurate.
      2 breaker shots is about 1.5 percent of ur total 128 ammo pool. Closest equivalent I could get from the lib pen is about 5 shots, 5/330. Slightly smaller percentage for the lib pen but it’s close.
      So for the same amount of your ammo pool (roughly), 45 dmg * 4 = 180. Hit all 5 on the weak spot, 900 dmg. For the breaker 330*1.5 (the listed weak spot multiplier in the same chart) gives 495. Hit both on weak spot, 990.
      For a smaller portion of ur clip and roughly the same portion of ur total ammo, hitting fewer shots (and them generally being easier to hit and more forgiving) you get more damage than the lib pen. And the breaker does it faster.
      Faster, easier, and more efficient. If that 4x weak point is accurate, the lib pen is better than I thought, but that’s under ideal circumstances. Breaker is much more forgiving when enemies are moving and there’s dozens of them with its higher base dmg. Youre just not hitting a clean headshot on a hunter mid jump, im sorry. It’s no wonder hundreds of people are reporting that the lib pens dmg sucks, it’s not that they all suck at aiming. It’s that it’s ideal circumstances are generally too difficult to produce in chaotic high difficulties.

    Currently like to run the diligence (non counter variant), 3 eagle perks on automata, 2 for terminids because I am missing firepower for swarms and use the drone, and the anti material rifle. The AMR can work wonders, killing up top hulks, but unfortunately not that good against anything that needs to have a weakspt exposed

    I feel like the main point to take away from this whole "meta" issue is just use what you like. Weapons that are lagging behind now will get some love sooner or later that will make them more appealing and useful to equip, besides that just try not to sweat over what a random player wants to use and just try to have fun but if you ultimately cant jive with a set of dudes just dip and save thyself a headache namsayin.

    I'm really enjoying the regular Liberator, the SMG and the regular Diligence, the last two especially against the bots, and with the SMG I typically take the ballistics shield too. Sure it won't do much against missile spam, but when you're avoiding those, it's a great combo.

    I hear people yelling 'The shield and raygun is THE best loadout in the game'. I simply don't need the shield to survive. Which allows me to have either resupply pack to support my friends or my laser guard dog that kills more than my gun. Or I can run around with an auto cannon which can kill everything in a few shots except Bio titans. People sleeping on auto cannon. It can destroy nests, shoot the spore tree across the map, kill chargers in 2 hits if you aim right. Good gun.

    immediately shows an entire magazine dumped into a single bile spitter without killing it... only for someone else to kill it from it's backside.
    Sure the breaker won't hit their heads, but it'll still do enough dmg to it's side to kill one in a single magazine. and even then, if you're spending an entire mag on a single bile spitter, I'd personally call that a misplay.
    I would argue that spitters aren't really meant to be dealt with using the primary. they're much weaker to explosives than they are to bullets. impact grenade, grenade launcher, auto-cannon, and rail-gun will all kill one in one-two hits. and can hit multiples at a time. They're also slow enough to kite and airstrike in a group. They're only really dangerous when they sneak up on you and get a 1-shot in before you can react or make space, so spending more than 10% of your ammo on one is unnecessary.
    Seems like a very odd thing to showcase immediately after singing the weapon's praises.

    Lib pen is not bad - but still it is a specialized weapon.
    It works great when you're running with a squad and taking out medium-armored enemies, leaving the unarmored ones to your comrades.
    Yes, it has the huge advantage of penetrating medium armor.
    But!
    The stock Liberator, oddly enough, has a larger magazine capacity and greater damage. And they have almost the same supply of ammunition - the armor-piercing liberator has 30 * 10, while the stock liberator has 45 * 7 - i.e., in fact, the stock liberator has even a little more ammunition.
    Also, the armor-piercing version copes worse with multiple weak enemies - both due to less damage and because of the burst firing mode, which usually causes it to overuse ammunition in such situations. Or you will have to switch to single fire all the time, but this is inconvenient, and in case of a sudden change of situation it can be fatal.
    I also like this game at this point - no matter how the weapon ranges are composed, everyone blames the same laser gun for being useless - but EVERY weapon in this game has an area of application in which it is USEFUL!

    This is a shitpost. Why people use Breaker and Defender most of the time? It's because Breaker is only gun that can kill brood commander in less then 1 mag, libpen can kill it with full mag. Defender just straight up better then liberator, and libpen don't have damage to deal with small targets effectively.
    Playing bugs 9 most off the time. They nerfed railcannon and 500kg bomb btw, they no longer 1 shot titans, unless 500kg bomb planted in it's body.

      Dude you're trolling, the dominator shreds brood commanders in half a mag or less. Breaker sucks against anything with armor. It's good for everything else but you're wasting ammo against armored enemies. Even the gun in this video is better than the breaker against armored enemies.

      I haven't noticed a nerf to the 500kg it still one shots titans 80% of the time. It always had an odd blast radius. I have dropped it in a big pack of mobs and killed nothing and other times it hits off the side of the pack and kills everything.

    I feel like we just need to be able to better apply damage to the damn enemies, its just to hard to apply damage with most weapons. The Breaker is the only one which feels like you are actually doing damage.

    Well as of right now, I have not unlocked the Liberator Penetrator. I have been using the Breaker and I must say I do love it. That aside, it looks like you were showcasing it mainly against Bile Spewers, and were not able to kill them in one clip, but I can with the Breaker. The cool thing about this game is that you can customize your entire loadout before you drop, which means you can tailor your weapons for any situation. The Liberator Penetrator might be better against the bots for when you're engaging down range, and the Breaker against the bugs bc they like to get up in your face. I'll have to try it out tho, been fighting pretty much exclusively the bugs the last few days

    I’ve never used the penetrator against the bugs before. It seems like it would be really effective against them. I’ve only really fought against bots and when I unlocked the weapon I found it to be rather mediocre. Its armor piercing capabilities wasn’t that useful since most of the trash enemies (troopers and commissars) went down in a similar number of shots when compared to other weapons and even though it could damage devastators with body shots its damage is lackluster requiring multiple mags to take one down. Thus it’s more efficient to go for headshots or use power weapons against them and devastators don’t have armor protecting their heads.

    Lieberator is maybe good for armor penetration, but breaker is so much better if you get attacks by 1000s of small enemies and fur every shielded one you shoot breaker too or railgun

    i've toyed around with the liberator penetrator before and it's made me wonder where all the hate for it comes from. everyone in the discord acts like it's the spawn of the antichrist but it's actually really good. has that helpful armor pen, but without the kick of the dominator or the awful ammo economy of the scorcher. people just see burst fire and assume the thing is trash 🤷‍♂️

    My issue with the liberator is, that it takes like half a magazine to kill the regular bugs, while the breaker one-two shots them. They seriously need to buff the wepons to do more damage. Until then the autocanon handle those few bugs with armor.

    For crowd control against bugs getting in your face The incinerator has a bigger mag and deals fire dmg, that fire dmg can also be applied to heavy armor bugs. At this point i am finding the breaker’s small mag an inconvenience when 20 small hunters are swarming you

    The primaries are "get off me" guns, while the support weapons are the bread and butter. Which is the biggest factor in the breakers' success. It kills, with great speed, whatever is "on you" so that you can get back to the support weapon.

    There is actually a bit of an issue with the stats right now, some things that say light armor penetration an actually penetrate even medium armor, while others, such as the spray and pray that claims it has light armor penetration, don't actually have any penetration. I have seen the Penetrator bounce off of armor as well, but it can and does penetrate better than the breaker currently does.
    The breaker is the best middle-ground of all the guns for mid to late game, good stopping power, fast reload, is good against all but the heaviest enemies which usually you want to have a support weapon for like the railgun or some sort of explosive like recoiless rifle or autocanon. Even a grenade launcher is good once you know how to bounce the grenades so it lands under or next to an armored enemy before blowing up.
    In most cases the Breaker Incindiary can deal with light and medium armor fine and even hurt more heavily armored units with fire, even if only minuscule as fire works best against the bugs, not the bots. Plus you get more ammo at the cost of only being able to fire it in 3 shot bursts or semi-auto, and slightly less damage, which is probably why people treat it as inferior to the breaker, it's lower damage that makes it take upwards of 2-3 shots to kill something that the normal breaker can kill in 1 shot, sometimes 2.
    And this is why the Penetrator is the other side of the coin, it's good at mid to long ranges, good to handle the more armored units, but against smaller enemies that swarm or groups of bots, it struggles so you want to have a Redeemer auto pistol or a support wepon like machine gun or stalwart or even the flamethrower to help clear them out more easily. So if you plan properly, to have ways to deal with the trashy weak mobs while you deal with the armored enemies, the Penetrator can be better.
    It's all a balance, really; for example I can take anything short of a tank, a bile titan, a Hulk, or a charger with the breaker with ease. And even then I can still kill a Hulk or Charger with it, just not as efficiently as it does take a lot of ammo to blow up their weak spot, which is why I carry a railgun for the heavily armored enemies. 2 shots with one of those, and they are as good as dead, more so if super-charged, and for the real big enemies like bitle titan or tank, I have the orbital railcanon.
    So you have medium to close range with the Breaker, or Medium to long range with the Penetrator. I think every team would benefit from one person with a penetrator, and one person with a break, if not 2 of each as they both are very good and reliable.

    Prefer using the arc thrower against the machines. I've done a couple arc runs against bugs and it goes south, since bugs are all about that melee. That charge up is risky

    Everytime I hear someone talk about a gun being fast in this game, I'm reminded that the only time it ever tells you that you can switch the firing mode from full auto to semi auto by holding the reload button is on a fucking loading screen tip and sigh in disappointment.

    Breaker's area of effect when firing allows damage to be split across multiple targets. One mag might not kill the brood commander you're shooting at, but if you blow off its front legs and kill 3 other bugs in the process, you make more breathing room to reload, retreat, or use stratagems than you would have made with the same liberator mag. Your primary weapon is just the thing you use waiting for your heavy weapon or stratagem to come off cooldown most of the time anyway. It doesn't need to carry the fight, it just needs to carry you through the next 15 seconds. The 500kg doesn't care how many bugs are still standing.

    Thats why you use an anti armor stratogen weapon. Everything this gun does my railgun does 5x as fast. Then pull out your breaker to 2 tap everything else in the game. Hoping they balance the other weapons soon

    I got the liberator penetrator, knowing that the damage was worse than the liberator (the first primary you start off with) but i was hoping the medium armor piercing will carry the weapon into being my general use main, especially since i love the marksman rifle. the way it feels is awesome and i love the mid range of it. let's just say after bringing it into the first mission, the difference between the breaker and the penetrator was so significant that i have shelved the penetrator and refuse to use it again. that being said, that dominator from the premium warbonds looks great, especially since it does 144 dam with medium armor piercing. i'm hoping to use that as my main weapon, once i get it. Moral of the story, for how much grinding you have to go through to the penetrator, it needs a significant damage buff. Iit's current damage is 45 so maybe buffing it to 85 would be decent at least. for reference, the liberator has a base damage of 55
