    For a tool that takes care of literally anything but bile titans, it's a damn good tool.

      It still neuters bile titans, hit them in the thorax and abdomen, and it pops both bile sacs, makes them a lot less threatening

      I didnt liked it too much due to the fact that you kinda need to stay still for aiming else it is up to luck if you miss or hit, the recoiless rifle is slightly better at doing the job of taking down heavies but it is also just one shot tho, you kinda need people to help you reload it but with randoms it is a mission impossible.

      The solo reload is rather generous considering the other options which have a co-op reload which is almost always needed.

    Autocannon is pretty fun and one of the best support weapons and imo, the best one if they increase the accuracy. You can:
    - destroy eggs in mass
    - destroy hives from long range
    - destroy spores in 2 hits
    - destroy illegal broadcast stations in 1
    - destroy chargers in 2 hits if you hit the sweetspot on the back of one of their legs
    - kill brood commanders in 1 shot to the head
    - kill hive guards in 1 hit to the head (and then wait 3 seconds for bleed damage to finish them off)
    The only downside is they are useless against bile titans.

      ​@@The_Genilast I knew no. Front legs, especially when you tear the armor off, do ALOT of damage. You can still hit it with the armor on by being precise behind it

      @@The_Geni As far as I know this is working as intended unless you can cite a dev post somewhere. What might be a bug is sometimes it removes the front armor without showing it and you can shoot it once in the back of the leg and then again when it turns towards you. However, without a dev saying otherwise, I do believe the penetration of the back leg is currently working as intended.

    Ive been an autocannon enjoyer for a good while now. Im very fond of it because of its versatility. Good amount of ammo, good rate of fire, fast partial reload. Only major downsides are that you have to stop to reload and youre missing out on a backpack slot. then again that means 3 strategems instead of 2. I just hate the sights on it in first person.
    try it out with the armor that reduces recoil when youre prone or crouched if you havent already.

      its a very fun gun to use. i dont mind the scope to much for farther targets, but even then third person is the better view. if they add different scope attachments im going to immediately get rid of the stock sights.

    You can turn on cross-hairs all the time in settings. Makes blind firing so much more accurate

    When everyone was Railgun crazy and I hadn't yet unlocked it, I was using this thing. Then when Railgun was nerfed and I still hadn't unlocked it, I'm still using this thing.

      No other gun come close ro this imo. Recoilles nasuar and rail gun have just too much reload time. At that point its better to bring in double anti tank spawning every 1 min

    I love the AC, main issue with it is it takes up a backpack slot, so on higher difficulty I don’t use it.

      I still use it on 7-9 against bots, I just bring the Enforcer armor, which gives you less recoil, explosion damage reduction and around 130 armor rating.

      Nahhh, just play low, hug rock, don't trigger unnecessary fights on patrols, AC is my go to support weapon when I go solo on diff 7 bots even with light armor

      @@ragneue that's something that alot of people do is they just shoot at anything they can see them complain that the game is way too hard. It's so simple just don't shoot at patrols that are passing by, this will most likely cause a bug breach

    The Autocannon is my absolute favorite stratagem in the game. It just sucks how inefficient it is for much larger enemies, or how inconsistent it can feel. I'd love to use the auto more if it did SLIGHTLY more than it does

      ​@@SeudXeRecoilless Rifle is equivalent of shoulder mounted cannon, Autocannon is upsized Anti Material Rifle.
      Relative ammo sizes look like 75mm for Recoilless Rifle, 20mm for Autocannon and 12.7mm for anti material rifle
      Still it shreds any bot, only bile Titan and charger give it some resemblance of trouble

      It does a lot already. Devs already showed they don't want a tool that just solves every problem in the game. It would get stale and boring like railgun shield used to be.

    The auto cannon is nicknamed the Chad cannon for a reason. It is the most versatile weapon in the game and one of the most powerful if you know where you need to shoot and have the skills to do it. Other than killing bile titans it is good at everything, it can close bug holes/fabricators, it can destroy all destructible objectives (except the research facility but you need a 500kg minimum for that), and 10 shots can do a lot of damage before it's empty, the thing is amazing.

    The more I use the auto cannon the more I love it. My favourite support weapon. Its perfect the way it is. It's not over powered at all but excels in taking down lots of light to medium enemies and even heavies if you get the right spots which can be tricky

    Wearing one of the armors that offers -30% recoil when crouched or prone makes a MASSIVE difference with this gun, I highly recommend it. The armors that offer explosion resistance too are particularly good for bot missions

    I would love if the AC would at least damage the heavy armor and not just bounce of. It doesn't have to pierce or do any damage until the armor is removed but that would be my only nitpick

      I think that would give players the false idea that they are damaging enemies they aren't. Before they knew it, they shot all their ammo and did exactly nothing.

      @@Kjf365 how do you mean? I would think if I sink 10 shots on the side of a bile titan and the armor cracks, that would really help me in a lot of cases. It just feels like a cannon that should be able to do some groundwork. Especially since when you play solo and take an armor slot.

      @RouththeRLPanda That doesn't line up with what you said. You said you would be fine if it didn't deal any damage until the armor is gone. To me, that implies the armor would still fully protect against the rounds but explode rather than bounce off.

    With skilled players, the auto cannon gives so many options to control the battle field. Shrieker nests aren’t a thing when you take them out from distance.

    1:00 You can also dive to cancel! Additionally if you crouch while sprinting you'll slide, and if you hit r during a slide you'll do a bit of next stage of the reload as you skid.

    You may not be able to shoot down the ships, but if one comes in above you, you can mag dump it to knock out most of the bots before they even land

    I think its not the accuracy, but the ergonomic stat. That juuuust slight inaccuracy after you wait for the reticle to line up gets real damn slow on the final adjustment due to the gun handling/ergonomic stat which you can't see since its hidden stat, like how lascannon was before and after buff on its ergonomic.
    In regard against the bots, bringing 110mm rocket barrage helps you deal with Tanks if no one is there to distract or you need it die quick, takes a stratagem slot but que sera que sera.
    What I really hope you try out is how it handles against Bile titan, after you break its middle/upper body armor then hit it around that wound or the part where all the legs joints a there with the AC and see how it deals with that, since reportedly while AC cant kill Bile titan when it has no armor that broken, after an armor is broken you can reliably damage his body where all the legs joint is at and it will die. (Breaking the armor can be done by railgun, EAT17, Recoilless, 110mm or Railcannon)

    I absolutely love the autocannon vs both the bots and bugs. For the the bugs in particular, I just pair it with a shotgun primary of your choice, and EATs for chargers & bile titans.
    While you can take out a charger with 2 shots if you break the leg armor with a back of the leg hit, and then shoot that leg again, ever since the change that made rockets 1 tap on headshots, I've mostly just switched to using EATs on chargers. I can usually get 3 charger kills with 1 EAT call in: 1 from the drop pod, and 2 from the rockets, though I still occasionally just blow their butts off with the autocannon and leave them to bleed out.
    Autocannon paired with the punisher in particular is fantastic vs bugs. You can use the autocannon for anything bigger than a hunter while they start closing the gap, then use the punisher to stun-lock and knock back anything that gets too close (or kill smaller targets). Then you can reload your autocannon and/or shoot whatever it is. I also use the strafing run or cluster bomb stratagems to clear out a wave of approaching bugs to give me time to reload the autocannon when there's a bug breach constantly spawning waves of bugs.
    I just don't even bother with autocannon vs titans unless I'm only popping the green sacs. I just use EATs with face shots, as well as whatever AP/AT stratagems I brought. The autocannon can do alright at finishing off a titan if it's still standing after a railcannon shot and an eat or 2.

    Worth noteing
    -the supply pack, press 5 to give self supplys. and with supplys giving it supplys a buddy can help out aton
    -useing it as a sniper, with light armor that reduces visibility... you can get about the map with little issue and hit objectives from extreme ranges

    Fun fact about resupply trolling people with the shield backpack, if you drop the shield backpack when there's a stratagem attached to it, the stratagem stays on the backpack so you can avoid death.

    Really glad to see you using this! It’s super versatile it’s not the answer to all problems but given that you also have 3 other strategems or 2 if you have the reduced strategem modifier, I’d say you’ll do just fine answering every problem presented.

    the hive guards are actually just one shot, you shoot them in the forehead and it might not look like it, but they bleed out relatively quickly.

    Feel like every gun is usable vs the bots, they have weakspots with lower armour which means every weapon *can* do damage. Autocannon, AMR, even the laser cannon can be used here and have good results - arguably better than those with heavy armour pen.
    Meanwhile the bugs heavy armour is increadibly polarising, either it pens heavy armour, and can be used to hurt chargers/titans or it doesnt and it becomes useless.

      automatons are far more balanced than the bugs atm especially before when the AI wasn't cranked super high. now bugs are in a weird spot.

      @@OhDough Yeah theres something going on with patrols spawning WAY too close to you atm.
      My main problem with the bots is some maps - specifically more open maps with weather effects are just miserable as you cant see them but they can shoot you with ease.

      I've been saying since launch that attacking the softer parts of chargers and titans should do more damage. Versus chargers every primary should be able to kill them in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. Versus titans it should require medium pen support weapons to do something similar. If they did that they would have solved the issue of higher difficulties requiring so much anti-tank.

      @@OhDough i have a lot of trouble against bots due to one shot hard to dodge ranged attacks like rockets and mortars and big cannons, also the planet modifiers are not fun to play with. What strategies people are using to make bots fun to fight? because right now Im on the side of bugs being better

      I think people are using the shield backpack to reduce 1shots. It unlocks at level 20.
      I mostly play bugs and havnt encountered bot mortars yet but cover and angle of attack becomes extremely important when fighting bots. It takes them some time to aim in my experience so shoot and scoot tactics may help you. Put cover between you and groups, and pick them off one at a time, and don’t peek around the side of the cover that the rocket demolisher just watched you duck behind.
      I also find bots either to kill when they are shooting at my teammates instead of me, which means you can absolutely use baiting and flanking tactics.
      Again, I don’t play on higher difficulties much so this is my rough experience around 3-6.

    Still have the most fun with the autocannon. Back when I was a cadet the autocannon was what I aimed to get as soon as possible. Used it till the railgun, prenerf.

    One recommendation for the chargers, shooting the back of the back legs is a lot easier. 1 shot from the back then you can just shoot it again and it usually dies. I found that to be a lot more consistent and safe than shooting the "weakspot" or the back of the front legs.

    AC and Sickle is my new favorite combo. Add EM mortar and the Orbital of your choice, you can take care of everything, if you handle distance, reloads and cooldowns, and defend the mortar.

    I love using it vs bots, with the explosive resistance + crouch recoil heavy armour. explosive resistance lets you not get 1tapped (and helps if you're shooting at a target a tad too close), reduced crouch recoil lets you snipe much easier with it, and it lets you take out factories without getting anywhere near them (just need to be within a 45 degree angle of the vents to bounce the shell inside)

    I think for brood guard (the shielded head ones) a direct AC hit would put them on real close to dying and a follow up shot from primary or secondary will finish them quick, if you really want to be more ammo efficient. At least I know after a direct AC hit, its 1 slugger or 1 dominator hit and they die

    Me and my friends play on 7, for our casual day to day matches with Helldive being our weekend sweat sessions.
    One of us almost ALWAYS has an autocannon for objectives and chargers, though now we also have someone with an EAT for those.

    The boss type chargers seem to take way longer to bleed out. Regular ones might bleed out in as little as five seconds.

    The autocannon is pretty good regardless of difficulty and is just a matter of it being versatile IF you know what to your doing so allow me to teach you the way.
    1. Abuse the absurd range as much as you can whether it is long distance fire support, run N gun an outpost, hitting tactical objectives, or picking off certain high value targets at the start of any engagement. (Tactical objectives are mortars, aa guns, spore spewers, and etc.)
    2. This thing has a lot of ammo to throw at most problems so don't be afraid to shoot this when in a desperate situation.
    3. The AC excels at dealing with medium armor targets so if you can shoot at that with the AC do it considering how this thing is basically built to deal with them.
    4. This tip applies to basically everything but if you can take an ammo box you should because it will extend the use time of it allowing for you to hold on to resupplies and your undeployed AC if you are lucky.
    5. If you are in a safe enough position try to crouch or prone and you will find that the accuracy/recoil is much more manageable especially if you have the recoil reducing armor bonus.
    6. Do not forget that while you can kill most enemies that doesn't mean you specifically have to deal with them I advise dealing with the medium armor enemies first unless the big enemy is causing an immediate issue.

    To who ever needs it you can make the crosshair be on your screen at all times just look in settings the hud im pretty sure look for crosshair setting and turn it to always instead of dynamic

      They nerfed the railgun just because it could penetrate heavy armor in safe mode and it is a single shot reload, if they doubt they'll do it for the auto cannon.

    Love running the auto cannon vs bots. I didn't know about the animation cancel. It's all about positioning as you said. Getting behind tanks/turrets, or lining up a shot on a fabricator from a distance makes it very strong.

    For Automaton Spawners you need to shoot the vent that was so it ricoshets of the plate into the building itself
    So if you shoot too low it won't bounce, aim higher. That's why you can't blow it from the side

    Against bugs, I've been running diff 7-9 with the AC as primary and EATs on standby for heavy enemies. It's been awesome that way.

    Having the armor buff for stability when crouching or prone really helps this. Automatons melt against this and I see more and more people run it. Bugs it’s not as useful especially with the nerf to chargers and the buff to launchers. But the ability close bug holes from distance on top of other side objectives is good.

    Autocannon is my comfort food. Its always the thing i love falling back on. Its my bug nest closer and factory destroyer with the added perk of being good against enemies too

    Autocannon with the new stun grenades might be a decent combo to keep the problematic enemies in place for best accuracy. The autocannon should be able to take out nests or outposts anyway. And if someone brings eagle smoke I guess it could help covering fire to reduce the chances of getting hit.

    I’ve always rocked this with me against automatons, and bring the liberator or defender rather than the slugger as my primary as I usually use the cannon for devastators and that the liberator scope can be zoom in for better accuracy when shooting light mobs from a distance

    It's been very good since launch. I run it all the time when I do solo runs before. now I have to do arc thrower because of the high amount of trash spawns but I still run auto canon when I play with mates. 2 auto canons in a group is a LOT of firepower especially now the chargers and titan spawns have been reduced.

    From this video, i can see that the laser canon is similar to the autocannon in quite a few aspects. Except, it takes a while to kill STRIDERS, and when focusing on weak vents, the laser shreds them. Lasers do not do anything to illegal broadcasts as well. Now on the titan, i get the same issue as the canon, i shoot the sacks, both of then then drop the tail ... and found no other way to kill it.

    i run auto cannon on 6+consistantly and i love it. its especially effective if you kit around it. for bile titans i'll run expendable to take them down when they appear. I switched because for some reason now my breaker can't penetrate the armor on the bile spewer's head. also being able to disarm bots is really helpful

    Saw two randos that were friends both bring auto cannons and they were clearing fields of bugs. Team reload then swap if and when one ran out of backpack ammo.

      having a friend carry a spare ammo-pack for you is lovely. team reloads are the icing on the cake, the AC doesn't even need it, tho all pack-weapons appreciate it a LOT.

    The auto cannon pairs well with the armor that is orange as you get extra stability when crouched. You're not supposed to be running and gunning with it but you can lol

    1:05 the magazine icon zoomed in on here actually displays the remaining amount of ammo in the mag (or clip in this case), but doesn't display the round in the chamber. You should actually be able to fire one more shot at this point, then the round at the end of the clip will move to the chamber and you can reload twice to fully load the gun (if desired) while still skipping the racking animation. This is less important with the autocannon due to the fact that it takes two clips to fully reload so no rounds are wasted, unlike most other guns in the game where you would discard a magazine that still contained one bullet. Not a huge optimization, but it helps to know.

    Some tank turret towers you can pen from the side if you miss the last of the 3 shots. But depends on the turret tower if it's the full MBT tank turret or the one less so.

    You should tag the chargers and larger bugs as it puts a crosshairs on them so a recall in can land on them easier with their pod

    it's 2 stratagems in 1, can take another stratagem for max offensive power or one to give you defensive ability, vs bugs, strafing run is super good takes care of everything thats not a charger or bile titan. gives me peace of mind to finish a reload or reposition. and honestly just being able to critically injure bile titans and chargers is fine enough let your 3 other squad mates finish them off
    but i def agree i mostly use it for the bots its so smoooth

    As soon as I got the autocannon it was a staple, especially before I got the slugger. Being able to essentially insta-kill brood commanders, hive guards and stalkers is amazing for how early you get it. Plus objective capabilities, extreme effectiveness against bots as long as you can aim, sealing bug holes+bot factories without grenades.
    The lack of shield pack double sucks. Because then you have to pick between 2 bad options. Ultra-light armor to focus on positioning, but you WILL die instantly to any projectile, or ultra-heavy armor to try and survive direct hits, but now you can't reposition for love nor money.
    Bile titans are definitely way too strong vs the support weapons. I bring the spear on every mission 7-9 difficulty because having the ability to 1-tap 4 titans off the rip, +1 per ammo box you find, +4 per cooldown is so strong. It basically lets your team ignore that titans exist as long as you have good aim and can communicate to position them. But only like 2 support weapons being able to reasonably kill them is silly.

    Autocannon is by far my favorite gun, unfortunately I refuse to use it solo against bugs though because if you get a bile spewer mission with bile scavengers and bile warriors you will just be slowed 24/7, unfortunately it seems like the bile scavengers slow you even if they miss when they spit at you.
    I always take shield pack for bugs solely for preventing myself from being slowed, if there was an anti-slow enhancement I would take that and never use shield again

      i almost never use the shield but the few times i pick it up the removal of CC effects is a bigger game-changer than the ability to no longer get 1-shot.
      i'm still confused how the devs made such an effective backpack then had a minor tantrum and nerfed it (super minor nerf tbh) when they realised it was best-in slot alongside the other best-in-slot (no backpack) anti-heavy-armour weapon meta that they caused. if anything the reduced flinch/slow should be an armour/booster feature not a backpack one.
      at the end of the day when random 1-shot deaths (be they mines, rockets-outta-nowhere, stompy-bois, slowing-attacks or acid-spew), chip/limb-damage and CC (e/g/ hunters that lock-on-leap, slow, tackle, ragdoll AND CAN 2-3-combo you) are the biggest threat to a helldiver there's no reason to be surprised when the one backpack that fixed ALL of those RNG deaths becomes the single go-to for the majority of the people with the game on-farm status at any difficulty.

    Striders can get really annoying and grenade placement can get tricky at times. So was looking for a dedicated one-shot killer for them. Will try the Auto Cannon on them next time. THX for the video.

      the walkers are my least favourite bot to fight right up there with the flamethrower hulk that the auto-respawn insists on dropping you behind and away from your support weapon, they spawn in high enough numbers that he dedicated Av can't deal with them so you are down to grenades, medium-pen and a LONG reload (and limited ammo) if using a backpack AV weapon.
      The rocket troops/devastators at least have the decency to die when shot with regular weapons (assuming they don't delete you from inside the fog/underbrush/base-walls in a single silent subtle-shot)

    Also always try to 1st person ADS when possible, otherwise it will take almost twice longer for the crosshairs to drop down again to the center after each shot. This effectively doubles your dps against the more tanky targets.

    Its my go to for bots, so versatile and consistent. 3 shots to vents on Tank/Tower and you can even hit the armor just to the rear of the turret and it will still score vent dmg.
    You can 1 shot fabricators from a pretty extreme distance by bouncing a round into the top vent and can destroy just about every objective with ease. 2 Tap hulks and if you are lucky enough with the weapon spread 1 tap devastators (2 shots on average). The splash is even good enough to take tight groups of chaff units or drop ship units. The ammo economy is excellent imo provided you keep track of not fully emptying your mags and using map ammo pickups where available.
    Don't use it on Bugs unless you have a team comp to support it. Alone, you will be questioning its effectiveness more often than seeing it effective. It does do well with spewer control (which is what my group mainly brings it for), but because you are constantly in retreat during times you need spewer control you risk getting hit by your own splash as much as landing hits on spewers. However for objectives It is excellent on eggs, bug holes, and spore towers.
    I personally do not use a shield backpack playing 7s and 8s when playing against bots, in fact only 1 person in our 4 man does and we are all in light armor. My armor passives help with tanking rocket hits and also how I approach engagements greatly reduce the threat of being 1 tapped.

    Pre nurf this was my favorite support gun. I called it the swiss army gun. It got so weak now that its kinda bad since you lose the backpack slot. It would be nice if it was like the OG games version of this gun the Dum Dum. It was just a support and ran a mag swap. Same function, but in a mag like the heavy machine gun would be good. That or give its power back. Chargers and bile titans would be fine if they made you use skill for against them, but they just killed it and its useless against both. Would change the scope to just a simple + cross hair for visibility since you cant zoom.

      Tbh a shield-deployable can do as much for you and the team in the short term as the backpack as long as you are willing to use it well. if you were going to burn 2 of your strat slots why not a "turret" with a 20% uptime versus a backpack good against only a single rocket before he chip damage kicks in.
      the bubble-shield deployable protects you as much if not more against a rush-force as the p-shield, plus the deployable si also effective versus bile, heavy weapons and leap-atatcks/chargers

    As a autocannon main for bugs as well I can’t say it enough how nice it is to snipe bug holes and eggs and spore towers. All sub objectives that need to be blown up is just an easy snipe before walking to the next main objective. Clusters and 500 deal with everything else and than I bring a laser just to deal with overwhelming situations if there is one.

    i think AC is a must pick for utility in your team, spewers come in hordes and they can be 2 tapped, shooting spores from afar, closing bug holes, 2 tapping chargers is doable but inconsistent and kinda jank, so you'll want someone with a heavy anti tank to deal with charger/titans

    So incredibly versatile and the ammo cap is amazing. I definitely see the problem with high amounts of armor though... eventually you just need more penetration or positioning is too much of an issue while getting swarmed. Plus if anything does get in your face you can't shoot it.
    On higher difficulties where stratagem cooldowns (and shield) are more of a concern, it definitely gets outclassed.
    How does it compare to grenade launcher + ammo pack? Being able to resupply your entire kit on the move would be pretty damn neat!

    Fantastic expose of this lovely support weapon. Autocannon is GOATED in my opinion. So versatile. There are matches where the AC almost becomes my primary weapon for the majority of the mission, unless I get close-range swamped of course.

    ac is definitely my favorite stratagem, though i do wish theyd buff it against chargers (make the leg sweetspot larger, increase mouth damage perhaps) and titans. it was said to be the general point of balance in the game, but i'd argue that its less of an issue with an autocannon, and more an issue with bugs wanting such specific counters. of course, making biles unable to be effective whatsoever is generally just useful and an option on almost all loadouts, but still, leaving it up is more opportunity for the bugs to overwhelm you.

    4:35 I don't have a ton of experience vs terminids with the autocannon, but I'd be interested to do some more testing on normal charger legs too. The legs on that variant have AGGRESSIVELY sloped armor and I wonder if that's making the projectile bounce more. According to the loading screen tips hitting sloped armor is supposed to bounce, but it wouldn't be the first time a game's loading screens lied. I mention this because apparently in one of the recent patches they changed the hitbox of normal charger legs to make things like the EAT bounce less, so I wonder if that + the less sloped model would make a difference in the leg results.

    The AC is just straight up fun. Even with the new QC I can’t stop running the AC. It’s just so damn satisfying. like you said position matters a ton. Don’t always get that luxury on 8-9 but idc. Still so fun. I let others with the QC take out the bird nests and BT for bugs and bot drop ships. You can take chargers out of action playing matador pretty quick sending shells into the rear as seen in the vid. Thanks ohdough for these vids.

    Saw another video titan was getting orbital laser he hit it with 3 recoiless rifle shots to the face and it was still alive and kicking. Which is similar to an experience a friend and I had where we together put 4 EAT rounds to the thing 2 being in the face 2 to the side didn't break any armor and had to use an orbital rail Cannon.

    I honestly don’t vibe with it but i do vibe with the Sentry version, that thang has an insane amount of ammo. Is part of how i am soloing the new bug mission. You can also stand on it and help it. Throw a dome shield to the side to stop a Charge attack from a charger, block bile spewer juice, is like having a buddy with perfect aim.

    You can just press the crouch button to cancel the reload animation once you get the first five rounds racked. You'll stand up and the weapon will be ready.

    For Scout Striders (AT-ST) sometimes they will withstand the Autocannon shots, they could withstand 3 - 4 shots from the upper armor

      it depends on if the AoE explosion hits the "slot" near their head of the lower part of that area where it's close to the bot-pilots knees. if in doubt just aim for their hips, it's still a 1-shot.

    Armour is fixed. It was last week sometime. Before all armour was at 100. So the light armour was the meta. Now it depends. I like light against bugs as the armour doesn’t help if you get swarmed. But the heavy armour with explosion resistance helps against the bots.
