One difference between now and 1968 is that back then we (males at least) had draft cards were liable to be drafted to fight the very war we were protesting. The cause and consequences were a lot more immediate. I was in Chicago in 1968 and got to smell some tear gas outside the Democratic convention. After the MLK assassination the National Guard was encamped a block from my apartment.

I feel like we are being totally gaslit with these claims about the protests being antisemitic or violent. It is not antisemitic to be anti-genocide, anti-settler colonial, anti-apartheid. A large proportion of the attendees of these protests are Jewish students saying loudly 'Not in my name!'. The word antisemitic has been totally drained of meaning, which is a shame, because antisemitism is a real thing. But you can't just label anything and everything that expresses criticism of Israel as 'antisemitic'.

You certainly have every right to such a view, I think what the piece was trying to point out is, there are elements and many of them quite vocal regarding hate for all things Israel/Jewish and that they are a significant catalyst and driving force behind the most vitriolic conduct. I certainly condemn Netanyahu and governments pursuit of a genocidal war on Palestinian Women and Children, but I do support all the people of Israel. Their right to coexist and to live in peace and security among all their neighbors. .

390 bodies have been found at three mass grave sites at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis as of Friday. At least 165 have been identified, with about 10 of them with their hands bound, numerous bodies had bullet wounds to the head. 78 children have been found in the graves.
Hamas does want a high civilian death count to blame on the Israelis and has no compunction against killing Gaza Palestinians who have protested against their October 7th massacre of Israelis.

How come they fail to mention those also killed at Jackson State? Is it because those murdered Students were Black & their losses were never really considered as tragic?

Hamas attacked Israel and killed approximately a thousand Israeli citizens.
Israel responded and killed approximately 40,000 people living on the Gaza strip majority black and brown Muslims but 25% of them are Israeli citizens. Which means Israel killed approximately 10,000 Israeli citizens in response of Hamas killing approximately 1000. It just happens that the Israeli citizens they killed are black and brown mostly Muslim. So this is easy no matter how you look at it I believe it's more to do with race than anything else because we know how the African Jews were treated when they came to Israel.
And the young ones are against funding an ongoing genocide. Probably the protest of the young ones has more merits.

Since the Crusades, those lands have largely been populated by Arabs (ie the Palestinians). Israel was re-created by international decree in 1947 and they were supposed to have split control with Palestine. Israel was thirsty for land so they initiated conflict after conflict to play the victim and “conquer defensively”. Their settlers steal houses that don’t belong to them and claim them as their own…its actually disgusting and anyone supporting that self-proclaimed ethnostate should feel ashamed.

I have to disagree with you. Today people in college who support the left overwhelmingly support war. They love the idea of war between Russia and Ukraine. They love the idea of war between Palestine and Israel they just not on the same side of it.
