Given the materials and name recognition, it's a decent price this day in age. But yes, knife prices in general are ridiculous, so this is of course still too much.
15:48 instead of the pocket screw on the front half or where blade pivot is reverse it so that pocket clip is on the bottom and increase the strength of the blade pivot
Hey DCA! Wanted to say that not only great knife videos and knife knowledge, i get an education with your command of words! Very articulate you are and i respect and appreciate that! Kudos ✌
That Vosteed Mayhem looks amazing.I would love a 4 inch blade version for sure!!!Also a more budget version in 14C28N or other would be excellent for people looking to spend less and get what looks like a very good, well made knife.
Kizer did a collab with RSK and that's where the Mini Paragon came from...sweet knife! It was done in Micarta/154cm for $119. I would be down for a more budget version of the Mayhem, but honestly as long as it doesn't have any issues with the new lock they're using the price isn't bad for materials and royalties they gotta pay RSK
It would be cool to see a Spyderco Waterway exclusive in that “wood” and REX45 combo. Just something that I think would work very well as fixed blade exclusive. It’s a nice blade for REX45 and the textured pattern on the handle would look so good in the wood aesthetic. The folders that would be great to consider adding in one of your variations as well are the LeafJumper/Rockjumper (could be the wood/HAP40, Cruwear/smooth g10, or black wood/Damascus) the awesome Stretch XL, and the Watu. I suggest the Watu because it is part of the ethnic series, which would go great with wood scales, and Spyderco has started using a variety of REX series steels in Taiwan with their Mule knives. It would be so cool! Knifecenter’s exclusive patterns are a favorite.
I'm unhappy that the Straight Spine Stretch II XL is getting the variants because the first iteration feels so much better!!! I guess the weight is why, but less handle width on a bigger knife fails on this model, measurably so!
The ladybug is strangely ergonomic for a keychain knife. I have the K390 version and it weirdly fits in your hands better than expected. Excellent knife for what it is. The pakkawood is expensive but you do get the pakkawood and it has metal liners back backspacer compared to the regular version.
I'm dying to find something that's basically a clone of a crkt minimalist with the 3 finger groved grip and a sub 3 inch fixed blade but in a steel like d2 or something worth its stones.
I’m torn between the CJRB Ekko exclusive and this Pyrite-alt exclusive. Ones a Sheepsfoot the other modified Wharncliffe, it’s hard to choose from the pictures.
With the Spyderco Ladybug in pakkawood having come back, does this mean that there’s a chance that the Dragonfly 2 in pakkawood might be coming back soon too? Because I’d buy that in an instant!
Yeah the exclusive Spiderco that launched about 2 weeks ago also has s90v steel and was about $165. Benchmade has just gotten so expensive I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
like 10-12-15 years ago cherusker messer made knives with the so called 'puzzle lock' which essentially was a very slightly modified compression lock ;)
I want to see David talk about Vanax vs Magnacut. Imo Vanax the better cousin of Magnacut. Better Corrosion resistance and edge retention for some less strength
I am not certain, but I think that maybe Vanax might be a little more difficult with heat treatment than Magnacut. If so, that might limit its usage in mainstream knives.
On the RMJ Tactical, Combat Africa sheath; That eyelet out in front of the pull the dot doesn't look like much but I suspect its actually really nice when you go to implement it.
Vosteed stepping out of the budget knives? Looking good! Also that Benchmade costs what? You said it so fast and quiet like you didn't want us to hear it.
I had to pull the trigger on that pyrite alt exclusive. It's too nice. I'm excited about the new civivi Damascus. Can't wait to see what they put it on next.
Hey DCA, what is your favorite niche knife? Mine is a marlin spike knife. I can't use them all the time as I don't live or work on a boat, but I still find uses for that spike all the time.
Did I hear right!? A vosteed with a compression lock type with titanium scales and in m390 for over$200? I would have been happy with 14c28n and aluminum for much less. For over$200 I'm looking for a product I know what to expect. I'm looking for Spyderco. Vosteed is great. I have a few of their knives, but m390 has been so risky for me.
I would be SO happy if you guys started listing the PRICE next to the NAME of the knives. I have to pay super close attention through the entire video to just find out the prices. BladeHQ knows whats up.
I bought the Pyrite Exclusive Drop Point. I really like the Pyrite, and the Exclusive is so good looking I had to get one. Now I'm going to have to get another one. I don't have any modified Wharncliffe blades. Are they anything like a reverse tanto?
The brilliant & well timed interaction between DCA & Thomas sells The Knife Center..!! That Rocket aka Untility knife caught our eyes. But the CQC7 Operator really is the coolest on the table. Hmmmm...conteplating.! Cheers gentlemen from Australia. BTW where's Seth?
Love Bradford, but those sheaths could be ambidextrous. There are so many ambi options with sheathing yet they are pretty much right handed cross draw.
Hi DCA ! A serious (very?) question: Find me the perfect fidget knife, one with front and back flipper tabs, a cutout for thumb and middle finger flicks and a finger safe lock so it can also wrist flick! Preferably a gents knife (With all the demands, it will be nice if it will also have an edge..) Thanks! Love your videos!
Cool selection! Case really needs to release the copperhead pattern in more volume. Every time I see a new cool material none of the patterns turn my crank. Admittedly I like the more novel patterns like the seahorse, copperhead, copperlock, the tiny little trapper, gunstock, saddlehorn, and swayback and all with wharny blades if given the choice!!
Thought the same thing. I have the Rike Hummingbird on my Keychain, and at least that came with a damasteel blade for the $130 I paid for it over a year ago. $89 for a wooden handled ladybug, you can keep it.
Spyderco prices are getting insane. I bought Spyderco and pretty much nothing but Spyderco for over two decades, now I just can't justify their prices anymore when I can get the same materials and sadly often better build quality for a fraction of the price.
Same. I mean, not an easy task trying to make your great grandfathers slipjoint exciting. Seems like people are buying them for the artwork, tin, and 6lbs of swag that comes with each one.
I’m so pissed that Vosteed decided to do a really interesting knife with a much anticipated lock (pretty much the smock compression lock that no one understands why Spyderco has never used again) that is pretty much ambidextrous in nature and they decided that left handed people clearly would have no interest in this knife…..
The whole thing with the forward compression lock only being available on the Smock was because it was a licensed out lock that was exclusive to that specific Spyderco design. Kevin Smock has discussed how he was adamant about the lock being sole authorship to the Smock design only; Spyderco obliged and the rest is history.
@@wes.killed.it.5511 I am not sure this is how it is. Smock would have licensed the design from Spyderco because the patent covered what he does with the button. I’ve seen a lot of people ask for more button compression locks, and while that has not bore fruit, I’ve not seen Spyderco state this was because they were obliging such a request from Smock (that does sound like something they would do, though). This is how I understand it. I don’t know the situation personally, though, so if I am mistaken, I am not against searching around for more info if you could point me in the right direction.
That Ladybug is freakin' adorable. Any plans for a reverse tanto model 🤘😝 *edit - With Magnacut having such a great ratio of the three pillars of pointiness, I can only imagine some day in the future, Larrin will snap his fingers and all Magnacut in existence will do an Endgame 😁
You can hear the button stick on mine also. I took it to Blade Show Texas and asked about it and they said mine was normal and by design. But if you deploy it by the button rather than the flipper it doesn’t have button stick.
That Malibu does look VERY nice!
Hey DCA I support Thomas' vehicle choices. Inexpensive cars that last. Don't need no fancy paint on a sunfire.
I'm just glad I was able to put the factory color BACK on it a few years ago. --Thomas
That Ladybug is ridiculously tiny in your larger than average sized hands! And I love the Vosteed Mayhem.
Slightly larger than average*
Am I the only one who thinks $89.00 for that Ladybug is ridiculous? Just too expensive.
Seems to e that the majority of new knives are too expensive. Everyone thinks they produce the best and that we ought to pay for their excellence.
Nope I agree with you
Unbelievable that anyone would buy it...
It looks like a $7.99 gas station novelty knife.
Given the materials and name recognition, it's a decent price this day in age. But yes, knife prices in general are ridiculous, so this is of course still too much.
15:48
instead of the pocket screw on the front half or where blade pivot is

Wow love that D rocket pocket OTF. Looked it up and even though it's manual, all OTF are illegal in California over 2".
now I gotta move
Thanks for the new! Carrying Spyderco Police or Skeletool.
DCA is the Bob Ross of the knife world

suggesting they use a non stainless tool steel on a fixed blade literally designed to be used in the water is the craziest shit i’ve heard all day 😂
Kalbi. My mouth watered; so good! I chuckled. A knife named after Korean barbecued short ribs? Awesome!
I love how many great American made knives coming out nowadays which aren’t benchmades
But benchmade are still the best.

The Ekko can front flip, which may be worth it.

I had to pull the trigger on that pyrite alt exclusive. It's too nice. I'm excited about the new civivi Damascus. Can't wait to see what they put it on next.

I knew it that sounds so darned good. Those are beautiful I need to own the black.
Kinda upset the pyrite alt exclusive is in burlap micarta instead of black. I was hoping to complete that collection.😢
Is the bradford 3.2 choil situation any different from the sheepsfoot blade? I have one and it looks the same to me. Am i missing something?
YES! That's the Pyrite Alt I've been waiting for!
