You can also do this with Finncast Studio but also Skype now can add such backgrounds without the need for a virtual camera from either Finncast Studio or OBS. Well done to Skype for this new addition. No green screen needed!
Thanks for the video. When I installed the plugin on a Mac, in 'tools' I have the option to 'start virtual camera' or 'stop virtual camera' but I can't find the camera settings. I can see the virtual camera as an option in Microsoft Teams by the way.
This is exactly what I needed! The crop feature, been trying to figure that out since I got my new webcam. Stupid thing has 110degree field of view and now way to reduce it. Life saver!!!
thanks for the Info, but what If you wanted to use a second OBS (to record with no overlays from Twitch, for youtube) with Virtual Camera and no background , just a game and a cam ? It seems that my greenscreen doesn't work with the Virtual Cam on the second OBS, It's Black and not Chroma keyed out.
What I would like to know if there is any way to wire Zoom's virtual background for my streaming purposes. I mean I can't find any video recording software where virtual backgrounds would be available?
you put your virtual background in OBS and then choose the OBS virtual cam as your cam in zoom. It works the same as in Skype, which was the example I used in this video. Just do in Zoom what I demonstrated with Skype. It works fine with zoom - I tried it. Also watch Part 2 of the video perhaps. That might give you some more ideas how to do it. Hi When I start the OBS camera from within OBS and select OBS camera from within both Skype for business and normal Skype the camera screen shows up in black so it does not show me, any reason why? Thanks
Sorted this. Not sure which of these 2 did the trick, but I first blocked chrome from grabbing the camera (in a chrome window click the more(3 vertical dots RHS) - settings-privacy and security - site settings - camera (set to blocked) I then in OBS screen I added my camera to the sources "+" video capture device - create new - (select device (eg Logitech camera) from drop down list) Hope this helps

Hi, Martin! Do you have a manufacturer and/or part number for the stand you're using for your green screen? We just got the same green screen other day, but it is just free standing at the moment. This works fine when I'm sitting somewhere with a wall behind me but obviously less so when my desk is in the corner with open space behind me. Thanks and thanks for the intro video!

This guy is pretty good but still it takes 25 precise clicks to change your background. This is not simple. But after a dozen views and plenty of notes, I shall give it a try.
I've tried everything. Downloaded the version for Skype for Windows. Installed. Downloaded the OBS Plugin, and even updated my OBS. The sources BOTH appear in OBS and Skype. I change both inputs to OBS-Camera on Skype and OBS. Go to tools, virtual cam. Start. Nothing. I've readded and deleted video sources in OBS as well, as well as toyed back and forth with each plugin between the camera, restarted my PC, reinstalled the Windows Skype (not Windows 10) from the Skype.com Website. Started as Admin on each program, started without admin. No dice. Just a black screen on each end. But it still detects my webcam when I switch back to it in OBS, after the VirtualCam is started. Settings are all there for both programs, just a black screen with OBS-Cameras. Not sure what to do, as I really wanted this to work for my stream.
There are a couple of things OBS suggests on their website that you can try: 1. download the latest plugin. A new one has come out since I made the video. Here is the link: obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-virtualcam.949/. This may fix the issue. If it doesn't try the next steps below. 2. Register both, the 32bit and 64bit directshow source manually. Here is how to do it: a) Run CMD as Administrator and register 32bit directshow source EXAMPLE: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\bin\32bit\obs-virtualsource.dll" b) Do it again to register 64bit directshow source EXAMPLE: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs-virtualsource.dll" >>If you can't find obs-studio in C:\Program Files (x86), then try C:\Program Files
not really helpfull in the fact that virtual cam and skype are not currently connecting??? you had skype image appear because yours was already setup i setup up virtual cam and was able to select skype virtual cam on skype HOWEVER NO image appeared in OBS unlike yours...
I know that Skype has that feature, which I addressed in my second video. But that's not the point. The point is that you can use the entire OBS power of making teaching videos and presentations with a little talking head in the corner and then channel that through Skype or Zoom with the OBS virtual camera plugin. Besides, Skype's Chroma key abilities don’t even come close to those of OBS. And even in Skype you will need a Green Screen if you have a busy background. Otherwise you never get a clean removal of your background around the edges of your own image.
One of the most useful videos available for OBS.Helped me a lot.Thank you so much.
The most usefull and the easiest :)
Thanks a lot!! Now i can hide my trash house during my online classes

Thanks Martin. Extremely well thought out and implemented educational video. I'm off to try it now!

I have the same issue. Camera feed on it's own is correct, the obs-camera doesn't seem to be picking up the feed.

Great video, Martin. How do you share your computer screen as a background?
The answer to that question is in my follow-up video, part 2. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/fc4esVPMgk4/видео.html
thanks, bro, very helpful. I am from the UK.
i dont have a green screen but would like to achieve the reuslts that you have please advise.
You can use any green cloth in your home. Hang it over a rod and use Crop pad in OBS. And then use Chrome key.
bro, i like this effect, but i doesnt seems to find the plugin on OBS resources, would you mind to post a link here.
nvm, i get it bro, testing it out
how do i get myself infront of the background picture? it always puts me behind it
How do you record yourself in the left hand bottom of the screen?

I dont have the option in tools lol what do I do
Do you know any alternative for linux?
Does this work for MacBook Pro 2010 OSX Yosemite version 10.10?
yes, OBS also runs on mac
how did you made yourself appear at the corner, and also made your picture look smaller and bigger, are you doing all this on skype?
