Media is so quick and instant these days and we are so connected to the artists that if stuff happens we know about to soon after. But back then there wasn't as much coverage in general and certainly not hiphop coverage. That's why 30 plus years later you still hear these artists and their crews come out with these streets about situations we never new about. Having a slower news cycle and less cameras and less attention was a curse and a blessing I guess 🤔
Kid n Play were constantly slated back in the day, Tim Dog and Ultramagnetics, Luke etc. but they were actually dope! They did a LOT of crazy shit in the game early. Glad the pod are giving them their flowers. Well deserved.
On Tim Dog's 1st album, he dissed half of the east coast for relevancy. It wasn't personal, or for lack of lyrical skills. Like u said, they were "dope" hip-hop artists.

As a Hip Hop fan for almost 40 years and a part of the culture as a Graffiti writer in NYC, I had street fame in the Early to late 90's manly in Queens but I smashed a lot of Brooklyn and some other cities and counties on Vacation FLIK back in those days I got to meet a ton of rappers who later grew to be superstars and it's amazing having grown up with the culture and still love it still be current and still need it like the air I breath. As a Kid Kid n Play was the 4th tape my parents got me lol I thought that was dope lyrics back then lolol I'm a super Lyrical underground backpacker NYC cat but I got my start with Kid n play, young MC and Vanilla ice types lolol.
