"I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again." That about sums up the crowning achievement of this great and prolific composer.
Applause from the audience was like nothing I'd ever seen -- such sincere gratitude for the orchestra, conductor and work resonated from all present in the concert hall .
LOVVERLY: unfortunately the Audio Quality is sadly lacking! You should hear my Vinyl Recording, of Saint-Saens 3rd Symphony, with CHARLES MUNCH Conducting, AND a SUBTERRANEAN ORGAN capable of a Sub-Base Frequency of ~10 HzWas fortunate enough to attend a live performance, back in the Day!
* One of the greatest masterpieces ever composed - one of the best performances! 👏
The second section of the first movement (start from 17:24 to 27:10) is the most touching and comforting one's heart. It is also my favorite of this work.
My comprehension of French is shaky at best, but I believe I understand the gist of your comment. The four-hands piano section sounds wonderful, it is properly emphasized in the sound mix (not overwhelmed by the organ and strings), and -- for once -- we actually get to see the pianists!
I wonder why I've not come across this particular performance before? I coudg easily run out of superlatives. Brilliant to hear the organ taking centre stage , smiling at the dishevelled organist whi looked as though he'd been dragged through a hedge backwards and at the young man striking the cymbals which where almost as big as him. For me the slow art of the 1st movement far surpassed the vitality of the finale. And three cheers for Mr Putin, sorry, Jarvi, who put his all into it. Bravo everyone.
The French are always proud to be French. Why on earth? To have killed one of the mildest and best Kings, having butchered people in Paris 1870, trigger off the two World Wars, to say nothing about Viêt Nam, Algeria &c. A very fine Frenchman, good friend of mine, told me:"My people is realy not very fine. You know what they say: God made France and considered it. And find it to beautiful in comparison with the other countries. As compensation, He made the French people." Nevertheless I have some very good French friends.
So many of these orchestra members are the same playing in the 2012 Prom at the Albert Hall. The piece is just as good, and they all look a little younger here....
Fell in love with this symphony as a teen. I turn 70 in November and I still love it.
Happy early birthday! I'm turning 15 in November.
Thanks, Maxwell. Happy early birthday to you as well.
Bronxboy47 Listen to Saint Saens Piano Concerto # 5. As good as this symphony. Cheers
You have damn good taste in music, sir!
Bronxboy47 What’s your favourite recording?
Jarvi really is the master of this piece. Two great performances on You Tube, this one and at the UK proms.
Purement époustouflant, un vrai bonheur. Merci

molto bella.

Quelle merveille ! J’adore le dernier mouvement.....
Ah those few bares with the four hands piano!!!! brings me to Heaven!
Too many performances try to do it with one pianist. Yes, the organ is the central attraction, but the piano adds a great deal.
It is truly glorious.
Extremely wonderful performance deserving of a standing ovation !!!!!

Absolutely my opinion, the section that brings me up from anything negatif
A timpanist s dream solo at the end. BRAVO
06:20 I. Adagio - Allegro moderato - Poco adagio
27:20 II. Allegro moderato - Presto - Maestoso - Allegro
Just an outstanding performance of an incredible symphonic piece.
What a GLORIOUS reception from the appreciative audience! LOVE IT!

Fantastic performance, bravo
Splendid!

Master symphony.
Wow....that finale...uffda!
It‘s breathtaking, indeed!
Amazing..!!! Sublime..!!
Maravilloso
Wonderful!!!

Oh Lord! Awesome! Awesome!

That's not just any "dishevelled organist, that's Thierry Escaich, one of France's greatest organ virtuosos.
35:38 : Only appearance of the 2nd pianist... and my very favourite moment!
Final movement: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
French great music in french great theatre. Proud to be french seeing that, and itvs not often....

Jarvi's face from 40:25 to 40:29!
Is it his mistake? (orchestra is playing correctly this fragment)
7:33 Schubert’s “unfinished symphony” vibes lol
Finale (Maestoso) part at 35:03
Nobody does it like Jarvi.
In the fine print .... l´Orgue ~ The Organ ~ as in the title.
Thierry Escaich playing the organ

I would like to purchase a digital recording of this. Does anyone know where??
It was a live recording not comercial...
Just download it from RUclips.
iTunes
Many tuberculous people went to watch the concert!
Presumably because of the healing powers of this magnificent piece of music ;)
@@jibbojones1651 No the air of Paris is no good at all, the planes are allowed to go upside the city .
27:00 yyyyyyyy how it goes? ;)
The baton gets up, nobody coughs!!!
A great version of a fantastic symphony ruined by a crowd of coughing noisy audience members.
errata corrige: estremamente godibile
27:29
We did not need 5 minutes of assembly and tuning
42:36 :(
It can happen in a live performance... 😉
Muchas gracias.
Are there diseased people who keep coughing in this performance ?! What the hell !? Coughing all the F***ING time !!!
This is the reality of the concert halls worldwide, and always during the quiet solos.
… called „Murphy‘s Law“ 🙂
But it‘s really a pity when you just got a Ticket fior a rarely given Concert, and just afterwards you get a cough…
Odieux la pub en plein morceau. Qui peut se permettre cette infamie?
