It's concise, steeped in its own atmosphere, and driven by the process of creation-that is, it's about your experience writing a song-giving it that needed "entertainment" value upon which all of the other elements can perform. I was inspired to write an essay on the value of learning techniques. In my case, writing techniques, but the idea applies to everything. The title of the essay is "Everything Is a Technique (Even if You're Intuiting Them)." The upshot is that every aspect of a creative work can be broken down into its constituent techniques. Nothing is a magical, incomprehensible wonder, divinely bestowed upon a select creative individual: rather, it's the clever combination of mundane, fully understandable and learnable techniques into a unified, skillfully crafted whole that ultimately creates magic. I hope there are more videos of this caliber in your, and by extension, our, future.
