  • I don't get to chase smallmouth bass very often so when I do it's a treat for sure! The Ned rig was the winner on this day! Rocky lake has an excellent smallmouth population and I highly recommend going there!

    Gotta come to NW Ontario for some smallies. I admit they are still fun to catch but less fun than they used to be. Its too easy here, no challenge = less fun. I recently began to love bass again since I took up fly fishing. I need to bring those new skills to northern MB. Cheers! Great video as always bud!

    Years ago I started fishing a new to me lake in Ontario and the resort owner convinced me to keep and eat smallmouth. The lake is completely loaded with 12-15" smallies. I'm talking you can catch 50-100 in a morning or afternoon. I never ate them before but we quickly realized they are fantastic!

      Crazy thing about Rocky Lake is how far north it is and holds bass! I was told by a fellow youtuber that there is a lake near Flin Flon that has them. Possibly the furthest north bass population in the whole world?

    SavageGear as a whole is amazing. From their line thru system all the way to their new reels. I love using their burbot for trout in the winter and using their 16 inch trouts for trophy Muskies in the fall. Amazing company.

    • @differentfins
      @differentfins 3 года назад

      I agree. I like how savage thinks outside the box. Too many companies make basically the same lures. SG is different.

    For a guy who “doesn’t know much about smallmouth” you’re doing alright lol. Now you need to work on the dropshot. My advice, use Owner mosquito light hooks, 1 or 1/0. And the lightest cylinder shape weight u can.

    Smallmouth bass on the grill is one of my favorite eating fish! Where I live there are some lakes that are trophy smallmouth bass lakes and others that are keep as many as you want lakes. I've had largemouth and smallmouth together too and smallmouth taste better. Not sure why exactly other than possibly what they're eating, but smallmouth are one of the best tasting fish!
