That's what I was thinking. I'm also wondering if that 1 "Do not ban" vote that wound up being taken off was from someone who defected, hoped that the fraud wouldn't change the outcome, and then reported it to Finch or someone when the results came out. Obviously you can tell what ip address logged into an account, but I'm thinking they were just hoping no one would bother to check,
Imagine being so insanely invested in seeing a pokemon get banned from a tier of your online battle simulator that you actually go to the effort of hitting high rank 11 times. Then imagine having 10 other friends who feel the same way. What a bunch of losers 😂
@@Renegade77784 Kyurem was iffy, and the meta was imo more fun without it, but I don't think it's really broken *broken* or unhealthy *unhealthy.* The set roulette issue was a bit overblown (you can read the broad strokes of the set from preview. HO - it's DD Dice. No removal - it's boots. Removal but not HO - pick one of DD Dice, SubTect, Sub DD and NeverMeltIce Mixed) but there was a tera roulette on top of it that felt overbearing but, again, not *to an extreme*. Kyurem inches close but isn't exactly on the border of a 'mon I'd consider bannable, and it's presence has a very polarizing set of pros and cons (for example, it stifles the most bulky, uninteractive balance cores (NOT ZapKingLu, that core's been dead forever. Bulky hazard stacks with Gliscor and easy wincons like Zama and Gambit are more the things Kyurem helps curb); but it positively smothers balance cores with less defensive integrity too.) So whether you voted ban or no ban largely came down to what you valued in a good tier. Frankly, I think Kyurem in a vacuum isn't *too* much, not at all. Stuffed together in Gen 9 OU with so many other equally powerful threats, though, its presence only makes the meta all the more stifling. But I don't think it's fair to tier just Kyurem if it's on that basis ngl.
@@Renegade77784 Kyurem imo isn't broken in a vacuum, but edges REAL close to that threshold. The set roulette factor is overblown (the broad strokes are easily read on team preview), but there's a tera roulette on top of it that pushes it dangerously close to overbearing. Sometimes it only needs one turn to go its way to win, other times too many limiting factors (hazards if it's not hdb, sp.def invested bulky mons it can't break if it's hdb, any clean knock off also ruins both) means it's already dead before it even gets onto the field. Overall, it's not really overly broken or special in any way imo, just borderline in a meta with too many borderline threats (but then, tiering it on that basis is just unfair). The pros and cons it brings are really polarizing (for one, it counters boring, uninteractive balances, but as a result also smothers less bulky balance cores) so your opinion on really it comes down to what you value in a tier. imo I despise it with a passion and I was happier when it was gone, but really it wasn't objectively broken and didn't deserve the ban
Feel as if Smogon should do a test to see if people are happy with Kyurem being gone from the tier. On one hand, yes Kyurem only won because of voter fraud (in a goofy creature battling game). But on the other hand, it was still an insanely close vote. Not to mention there might be a good portion of people that enjoyed Gen 9 OU without Kyurem more than Gen 9 OU with Kyurem. Just something to think about.
"find 11 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won this suspect." Craziest part is a lot of them were tour players, like 4-5 teams in smogon champions league have to find alternates
Pretty much, by having an elo requirement on a specific suspect test ladder, it: Stops uninformed low ladder players from voting just on vibes It means that even good players specifically have to play on the ladder that is testing kyurem so that they can have say Also allows mid level players to still have a say
