Best Intro Ever. Keep up the great work bro. Your vibes are always super positive and I totally see the passion you put into editing, vlogging, flying, etc. Peace!
Thanks for taking the time to do this review, been flying fixed wing FPV from monitor and looking to get goggles. This and another review I saw are making me lean towards the Skyzones.
I try to answer as many questions as I can in the comments, but if there's anything you'd like answered in a video, reply here. If I get a few small questions I could do a Q&A thing, and if theres anything that could use more detail I could do a dedicated video (like this one :)
I would like to see a video of all the equipment you use (motors esc frame fc bf or kiss) and why you use that over other stuff like you did in this vid. Just a brief one you don't have to into detail
@@LeDribFPV I even thought I jumped by mistake into some emo make up pseudo masculine channel for a sec...But then I realized is just probably to much vampire role-playing... :P
Just bought these goggles. Was looking for something that would get me into the sport and at this point....it didn’t break the bank!! Half the price of fat sharks and the frequency scanner is awesome. From my box style goggles.....these were a huge upgrade!! Waaay better picture!!! Thanks Drib!!
I'm so glad you did this video, I was on the fence until now. I have the version 1.2 SkyZones and they have worked great for over a year now, but I did not know the new ones have that scanner.
Dude you just gave me an idea for your next video: You should walk around the world with the goggles on using the front facing camera. Just to see how fun it is ;)
I fully agree. I did my research first and bought the same goggles last year. Still great! I really like my Skyzone televiewers.. Awesome image Quality- distance or obstacles. Same price, more features, better tech IMO. Oh yah, and I really dig your flying style too. Smoooooth.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking for a nice set of "ride-along" goggles that aren't too expensive but will still help to recruit more people into the hobby. The more people that I can get to experience first-hand FPV, the more likely our hobby is to grow in my area.
Had mine for a few weeks now. After trying the latest HD3 Fatshark I want impressed with those at all. .The V02+ are so clear and great with 16:9 cameras.
Thank you, I really appreciated this video. I've been looking at these for a while, but since everyone is using FS, I had my concerns that they could perform. You helped me decide towards these :)
Hey Drew, I got the Skyzones based on your recommendation (and also because I gave up waiting for the Aomway Commander). So far I enjoy the Skyzones a lot! What batteries should I use to power them? So far I went for old 3S packs that I no longer want to fly on. But you seem to use Fatshark batteries? Is that true? Why is that?
I've been flying almost a year now and have never used goggles yet. Mainly because I can't afford any, but when I do maybe I'll buy these ones, thank you!
Not sure if you'll see this or not, but I was curious if you've tried out the skyzones with the TBS Tango? No one seems to be able to give me an answer on whether or not they work together. The Skyzones work with the groundstation which uses the same cable, but I've been trying to confirm that they'll work with the Tango as well :) If you happen to see this and can answer my question I'd really appreciate it as I rather like these!

Thanks for this! I just ordered a set from ExcelRC. I've been wanting this style for a while, the big single screen ones are just so bulky and look ridiculous.
Got the goggles, I love them. I have some lenses on the way where I'm short sighted. I was surprised I need them, I've been fine with all the box goggles I've used but with these it's blurry and I can tell it's just my eyes because it's clear when I look through my glasses at the screens. I am disappointed with the DVR, it's pretty low quality compared to the cheapo USB receiver I have so I can record on my phone. Other than that they are great! Seem to get less break up than my box goggles and the screen size is perfect for me. Pretty comfortable and I made a short adapter to connect some lightweight 2000mah 2s lipos I have. They stick to the back of the head strap really well with some velcro.
I have the same goggles and love them. I keep my Dominators as my backup or for someone that wants to view my flight. I really haven't used the 3d too much but it is a fun experience.
Pretty important to like your goggles. Good review on these. What's the FOV on them? You listed every other spec lol. I like flying with a big FOV. Just got some FS Transformers with the binocular attachment and they are killer, but most of the time I still wear my DOM SE goggles as they are easier to transport in my pack.
Hey I ran into you at excel store in Michigan anyways the white skyzones you have me sold!!!!! What do you think about runcam 3 vs gopro hero 5 considering the price difference?
Hey man, love watching you fly. I am considering these goggles and would like to add the FS fan faceplate. Anyway you could do a how to video?? I'm in the Midwest as well and with the hot humid summer fast approaching I'd love me a fan.
Nice review Drew. I stared out with fatshark goggles, and just never managed to get on with them. I'm onto my second set of Skyzone goggles now and love them, good to see some diversity in product use (sorry, terrible joke) :-)
Le Drib awesome thanks for the reply, I'm guessing your also shooting at least 1080 and 60fps? Which cam do you use. Bout to sell my hero 3 but my session only shoots 45fps
Yeah dude that was awesome, You should do more. I love to hear about what gear the experts are using. I've almost completed my first build, have not flown yet, and I'm already thinking about my next build, and how I can do it better.
+Le Drib - why did you choose the Skyzones over the FatSharks? What made you split from the pack when you made this buying decision? I'm agonising over my first pair of goggles, and every objective measure seems to favor the Skyzones - so I sort of wonder why fewer people are using them.... Unless it's mainly just fashion - and I'm getting the idea a lot of this hobby is fashion.
There's more fashion than you might think 😂 Less people use Skyzone because they are less well known. Fatshark is much more active within the community. And there really is something to be said for that 👍🏻 I chose them based on feature set and not needing to fiddle with modules and they've worked well for me. Both options are good though so no wrong answer :)
Hey you ...EXCELLENT !!!! Thank You ! I have these goggles (orange version thru Swellpro) and although I have not used much (YET) as I am trying to switch to FPV ...I learned more with your video ! Thank YOU !!!
Hi there. I am in search for my first non box goggles. I like very much the skyzone but the only thing I am afraid is the luck of a fan. Is is noticeable? Did do you have any issues of fogg? Your answer is important for my decision.Thank you .
GoPro session settings for best battery conservation? Which features to turn on or off? Basically I just need to know if having the voice control on uses a significant amount of power. Thanks
I'd definitely recommend turning off voice control. It uses up battery and I feel like it causes more trouble than its worth. Like if you're flying with a group of people one person's voice could accidentally start all the cameras lol Turning WiFi off will also save battery, and I believe there is a way you can dim the little LCD screen too to reduce its power consumption
Le Drib yep and here in NC the past 2 weeks it's been 60 deg all week then like 40 on the weekends when I have time to fly. I've flown 5 packs in 2017 so far. Haven't even used te session yet. Creative dex mount came yesterday and the glass stickys should arrive tomorrow. I'm using protection this time because my hero3 silver got completely wrecked to shit.
On the video of you and Jeff trading gear you had to ware his fat shark's. I remember that you said the picture on his was much larger than the picture on your goggles. Can you explain a little more about that? Thanks in advance.
The FOV of the lenses infront of the screens are different. My goggles are 30deg whereas Jeff's are closer to45 I think. So even though the screens are about the same physical size, Jeff's goggles magnify more to make it look bigger. Comes down to preference. The larger FOV goggles are more immersive but its harder to see the whole screen without moving your eyes around. Right now I prefer the slightly narrower FOV, but I would probably get used to the bigger if I wanted to
Ok that makes sense. I have been looking at both brands and wasn't seeing much of a difference is size and quality based on reviews. The price point has been pushing more to the skyzone for sure. Once you look at the fat shark attitudes then the extra stuff that doesn't come with it you are looking at a significant price gap. How about durability and power consumption? How would you rate the skyzone on these things?
durability is fine, I try to be careful but I'm not especially gentle or anything. No more fragile than FatSharks. They do well on power, seems about on par with FatSharks, cant really say which is better. The nice thing about these is they can actually run on 3S so you can use a big 3S battery in your pocket with a long cord if you want. But I like the convenience of little 2S packs in the headstrap
Hi i have received the same black ones yesterday. Just powered them with a 20C 850 mah. I can see the quad when i put on the googles but as i begin to take off I only get Noise in my screen (white dots like disconnected). Again when i switch channel or freq image appears. The moment i take off i loose the video signal. Please advise.
Great review..I think I'll be getting these due to a sale on these. I use glasses and refuse to wear contacts so the external camera got me sold lol. In my case about the front camera its faster to press and see instead of lift and put on glasses :). I use box goggles and when I lift them I Cannot see anything. There are times when I somehow wander and leave my glasses somewhere I use my drone to see as I walk back to my original spot.
Great video le drib! So I think you have convinced me to get the skyzone v+ . Do I need a camera like the foxeer monster 16:9 for the skysone v+?? it's so hard to find good info on them. Thanks man
Hi I ordered this googles as I aslo plan to use it to display 3D stereo footage from HDMI, did you try it is it able to show sidebyside videos from hdmi? as a 3D VR glass instead of my 3D tv ...
Hey there. I watched This video and the second one you did. I was wondering if you have a problem with those goggles fogging up or if you have heard of any problems in that effect.
Le Drib thank you for the reply. I ordered them this morning. I saw a video of how you can modify the HD2 faceplate (i guess you would call it that) witht the fan on it. From what I saw it wasn't very much to modify. Thank you again man.
Holy cow!!! Someone else who flies quads in Michigan😀 I was hoping I wasn't alone in this state. I lives your airport terminal video, can't believe you were allowed to fly there! Where do you usually fly? I just got my first quad in October, so I'm fairly new and looking for cool spots. Once this weather gets better lol. happy flying sir
Ayyeeee! Yeah there's actually a handful of people who fly in MI. There was just s little Tiny Whoop Meetup at Excel in Garden City earlier today. I wish I had seen your message sooner
I have Skyzone sky02's and fatshark hd3's. the built in rx's in the skyzones are on par with my laforge diversity setup in the hd3's. And the nexwave module is crap compared to stock SZ rx's. I use the build in cam sometimes. not too practical but comes in handy when looking at a friends quad on takeoff or to quickly scan the area for anybody who might be close by, and maybe to grab my tx or something like that. sometimes when ur goggles are just right u don't want to take them off for a quick sec.
Awesome video & nice flying at the end. Just shows that you don't have too have fatshark goggles like everyone me included too blast through the air, prices are about same too.
What kind of FOV do those have? Do they look really immersive? Similar to the big box type goggles? I tried the v3 fatsharks and it was terrible lol. Like a little tv 10 feet away
Which fatsharks? The teleporters are terrrible. But the Dominatirs are nice and have a very large immersive FOV (45 I think?) The Skyzone FOV is around 30, so not as immersive as some others but I like being able to read the whole screen without moving my eyes too much
Dang 30? I think that's the same as the v3's haha xD I ordered the HD2 cause I really like the immersion since that's like the whole point for me. I'm curious to see how they look.
Was talking with some others about this in a previous comment. Its looking like FatShark diopters are all compatible with the Skyzone line. I know RHO-Lens makes perscription diopters, but I havent tried them personally. I sent them a message yesterday to confirm they're compatible with Skyzone, and I might get a set to try rho-lens.com/rho-lens-fpl/
Oh, so sorry to make you repeat. I glanced for it quick but must have missed it. So sorry. Yet, grateful for the reply! I have a set of lens ordered from here customfpx.com/prescription-guide.php but, no goggles yet. Seems we're mid-refresh cycle on FatSharks so I don't want to order "top end" just to have them be outdated in a couple months. Tried buying used V2's as people seem to like those but... none for sale anywhere online at a reasonable price (seems to be a cult around those V2's - some charging 2x what they were last sold new for. Weird). So... curious when I saw your goggles - but as I've already got the lens coming... curious if they'd work or not with your goggles. Thanks again for the help - and, for all the videos you post. I've done a bit of video with stuff we do at church (yes, I'm a real pastor, not just an "FPV preacher" lol) so I know how much work goes into putting together just one of your videos. Know I / we the FPV community are grateful - and inspired by your flying & helpful posts on FPV. Sincerely, thank you!
Yeah the SKY02 V4 display is 16:9 and the DVR is 4:3 And also yes, band scanning was not on SKY02 V3, it was added for SKY02 V4 Now SKY02S V+ is out which has everything V4 has plus HDMI in
I was about to ask you in another video what goggles you use and then saw your video in the up next column on youtube with you saying what you wear. Thanks for the review. Couple questions, does it have a fan? I know the fatsharks always fog up until they added a fan, but you fly in Michigan where its cold so does it fog for you? I'm also near Detroit so and my quanum goggles always fog in heat or cold. Second you said the FOV is only 30 degrees. That sounds terribly small. Even the fatsharks that say they are 45 degrees is really bad. I want to get some goggles instead of the bigger head mounted displays, but the FOV on my quanums is way better than any fatsharks. Since they are a diy goggle, I don't really know the exact FOV though. I don't know how they measure FOV, but fatsharks look like you are looking at a tv down a hall, the head mounted displays are entirely immersive. How to the skyzones look compared to the fatshark?
Hey Drew, I can't seem to find this exact model I keep coming up with the 3D set which is like $500 >.< but yeaah not interested in 3d. Also yeah... so dumb having a camera on the front, its almost a dealbreaker just because that means I'm paying for useless functionality. If only Aomway commanders were in stock amirite?
After watching this, UAVfutures and a bunch of other reviews, I think it is time to upgrade from my old teleporter v5s to a pair of these. Thanks for the honest opinion!
maybe he's born with it... maybe its skyzone.
😂

Hey you ...EXCELLENT !!!! Thank You ! I have these goggles (orange version thru Swellpro) and although I have not used much (YET) as I am trying to switch to FPV ...I learned more with your video ! Thank YOU !!!
Hi there. I am in search for my first non box goggles. I like very much the skyzone but the only thing I am afraid is the luck of a fan. Is is noticeable? Did do you have any issues of fogg? Your answer is important for my decision.Thank you .
I like the look of the frequency search OSD.
GoPro session settings for best battery conservation? Which features to turn on or off? Basically I just need to know if having the voice control on uses a significant amount of power. Thanks
I'd definitely recommend turning off voice control. It uses up battery and I feel like it causes more trouble than its worth. Like if you're flying with a group of people one person's voice could accidentally start all the cameras lol
Turning WiFi off will also save battery, and I believe there is a way you can dim the little LCD screen too to reduce its power consumption
Le Drib right on. Thanks for the tips. That built in batt is my only gripe with the session so far.
yeah its even worse when its cold out, it drains so fast!
I never had an issue wit not having enough battery when it was warm, winter just sucks lol
I'm using protection this time because my hero3 silver got completely wrecked to shit.
in norway the session last 5 min in the winter:P
what is that sticker on your goggles? It looks pretty cool.
Hi! Do you think that a pair of goggles that are equal to these but with 42 of fov would be better?
Would you recommend the new Skyzone 02C?
Hi i have received the same black ones yesterday. Just powered them with a 20C 850 mah. I can see the quad when i put on the googles but as i begin to take off I only get Noise in my screen (white dots like disconnected). Again when i switch channel or freq image appears. The moment i take off i loose the video signal. Please advise.
They say you can watch movies with these . I've tried and they just don't seem to show up. Is there a special format. Mpeg avi etc
Which antennas and where to buy do you recommend?
Great video le drib! So I think you have convinced me to get the skyzone v+ . Do I need a camera like the foxeer monster 16:9 for the skysone v+?? it's so hard to find good info on them. Thanks man
nah I use normal 4:3 cameras. Stretches the image a bit but you'll get used to it after like one flight. It's never bothered me
Hi I ordered this googles as I aslo plan to use it to display 3D stereo footage from HDMI, did you try it is it able to show sidebyside videos from hdmi? as a 3D VR glass instead of my 3D tv
...
Can you use these with glasses, or adjust the screen. Thanks
Hey there. I watched This video and the second one you did. I was wondering if you have a problem with those goggles fogging up or if you have heard of any problems in that effect.
I usually dont have any fogging problems. Every now and then it does happen and yeah a fan would be really nice.
+Le Drib no worries, I'm sure there will be more. I'm down in Adrian, garden city isn't that far away:)
+Le Drib p.s., I get my tiny whoop and qx90 on Feb. 14th😉
Can you give the link to both antennas you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Love my spexmans , camera on front is activated by a switch on tx
I do like this goggles and I was going to get them but I found used dominator v3. Are this comfortable? Don't you get fog on the lens at the hot days?
I think they're comfortable and I don't usually have problems with fogging. But on the rare occasion that I do have fogging, it sucks not having a fan
I got the sky02 v3 white 32ch ones. I think skyzone makes good goggle.
Thanks
Matt
Hey Drew what battery do you like to use with your Skyzones? Thanks!
I make these: ruclips.net/video/QvHH9ypQdBs/видео.html
Hay Le Drib, do all the versions of skyzones have a frequency scanner or just the versions you have?
Hi Le Drib, do you now if there any plans of releasing a firmware update to support L Band? If they are updateables obviously. Thanks
Can u put a link to buy the antennas that you have added
without fan? how eliminates fogging?
Awesome video & nice flying at the end. Just shows that you don't have too have fatshark goggles like everyone me included too blast through the air, prices are about same too.
Hi :) do you use 4:3 fpv cameras on these googles?
What kind of FOV do those have? Do they look really immersive? Similar to the big box type goggles? I tried the v3 fatsharks and it was terrible lol. Like a little tv 10 feet away
Which fatsharks? The teleporters are terrrible. But the Dominatirs are nice and have a very large immersive FOV (45 I think?)
The Skyzone FOV is around 30, so not as immersive as some others but I like being able to read the whole screen without moving my eyes too much
Dang 30? I think that's the same as the v3's haha xD I ordered the HD2 cause I really like the immersion since that's like the whole point for me. I'm curious to see how they look.
Do you still have them/use them?? I started with HDO's and I feel the displays/fov aren't large enough and thinking about going with these.
how are the skyzone sky 01s? You recomend me the skyzone sky01?
Where can I get some Sky 02 V4 s?
The mascara helps you with what?
Would you recomend the sky02 or sky03 to me?
Can you put diopters in it / for glasses wearers? If so, are they the same size as FatSharks (I need prescription ones)?
Was talking with some others about this in a previous comment. Its looking like FatShark diopters are all compatible with the Skyzone line.
I know RHO-Lens makes perscription diopters, but I havent tried them personally. I sent them a message yesterday to confirm they're compatible with Skyzone, and I might get a set to try
rho-lens.com/rho-lens-fpl/
What does he mean with 'V4'? These goggles are only available in SKY02C or SKY02X version...
i got the skyzone sk02 v3 and the screen is 16:9 but the dvr recordings are on 4:3 is it the same on the v4???
also there is no band scanning on the v3
Yeah the SKY02 V4 display is 16:9 and the DVR is 4:3
And also yes, band scanning was not on SKY02 V3, it was added for SKY02 V4
Now SKY02S V+ is out which has everything V4 has plus HDMI in
like o sh*t we forgot something lets make a v5
Are these goggles compatible with vortex 285 quadcopters
quick question. do you get mid-throttle oscillations on a KISS setup?
I don't have any KISS'd quads.
I've been thinking about building one so I can learn more about the system
Is there a different between V4 or V+? Or does some store just use another name? - thanks
Great intro! 😂☺️ nice info on the goggles!
How come yours have a faceplate and mine don't??? Can you buy it aftermarket??
Hello Its possible imput a HDMI ? Or Connect some type of cable to have the image on a DJI
Drones Thanks
Now SKY02S V+ is out which has everything V4 has plus HDMI in
There is no fan in the goggle's right? Does that bother you?
what battery do you use?
Hey Drew,
I can't seem to find this exact model I keep coming up with the 3D set which is like $500 >.< but yeaah not interested in 3d.
