    I like how you grind and blend the welds, but do you think that would be a good idea on a tig welded mild steel exhaust system?
    Just curious. Have heard different opinions on it.

    The entire time watching you weld the curved piece to the straight tube I kept wondering how you would deal with the top joint so that rain doesn't collect in the curved section. Perhaps a small hole drilled at the bottom of the curved piece. Maybe it's not necessary.

    SAFETY TIP Justin please don't lay a grinder or buffer face down if it kicks into life ,same as always isolate the power before changing the attachments your a great welder i really don't want you to have an accident, split second to have an accident could take a lifetime to heal stay safe mate 👍

    Great project, it looks fantastic. I think your idea of of using the black washers is actually going to induce more corrosion as you now have 3 dissimilar metals combined (plus fasteners) and electrolysis loves that condition. Airplane skin is usually 2024T3 and on jets near the exhaust as found of the F-86, stainless steel is attached to the aluminum. I don't know exactly which alloy stainless any longer but, if you are using a 300 series stainless plate to attach the mailbox, I would have just fastened the two together. If still worried about corrosion, get a can of zinc phosphate primer and spray the bottom of the mailbox. Aircraft Spruce used to sell zinc chromate, the real stuff that worked. I guess the EPA finally got their way while China pollutes the world. My 2 cents.

      That’s all good info, the washers were rubber though not metal.

    First and foremost great video.Why are there always safety patrol and "this should have been this way or that way police". Look he is a fabricator...his design, his concept that he thought of. Regarding safety patrol...he is liable for for what he does...so sit back and enjoy the video or not.

    Very nice Justin, very nice. I didn’t see the first half yet, so I’m wondering what paint color it is, and it looks like powder coat, is it?

    Custom stainless mailbox base. Who yah, when the snow plow driver sees that he's going to knock it into the middle of next week. Folks around here stick a post in an old tire set with concrete.

    I know its probably very late, but the reason you had the lines on the tube after using the 120 grit on the burnisher is because you had the drum on the wrong way, essentially running in reverse so the slanted design of the holes through it were pointing the wrong direction, they are supposed to go the other way so that the rubber between the holes acts as a damper, it only works as a damper in one direction though

    Hey Justin, I love the videos. I have a question for you. I am working on a small section of sheetmetal (aka roof of a car) and I need to punch some square holes. What is the easiest way to do this?

    • @GarageFab
      @GarageFab 3 года назад +1

      Not my business but this is a really interesting question and made me think. How many holes do you need to do? My first thought is just drilling and then filing them square unless you've got several to do. You'd need something bolt operated since you probably can't put your roof in a press.
      Search for Greenlee 60001 square punch. It's a half inch square. Not cheap but I think this style tool is what you'll need. Good luck!

    That’s sad that it seems like every state has to be “post master approved” 🙄 I bet they feel all high and mighty with that title. “Oh post master, can a pretty please customize my mailbox because I like to express myself?” Post master: “Maybe, pheasant.”
