I think it’s important to remember that Lydia didn’t name and shame, she warned her industry colleagues yes, but the other party has posted on Instagram and now RUclips dragging Lydia for what essentially was a disappointing service which did not warrant such a public attack. Very unprofessional, but kudos to Lydia for soldiering on to the best of her ability through a tough period.

I feel like we could always say 'people are dying' you can still care about people dying and take happiness from things in life... the two are not mutually exclusive and I wish people would realise that - you are allowed to take happiness from whatever gives you it. People are very quick to be angry right now, at everything and anything. The pandemic has made people crueler. I'm sorry. I'm glad you are doing better - you are amazing xxxxx

I think maybe the lesson is you don’t always have to find something positive to post? 48 hours after suffering the loss of your grandfather showing excitement about a bag could make you seem callous and shallow. Which I don’t believe you are at all. I also see your point of wanting to be a go to place for people to escape the reality of the world. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you don’t show vulnerability and always want to make it seem everything is ok. I think showing some imperfection would only make you more endearing.

This is spot on what I was thinking. It must be so hard to be a content creator for that exact reason. On one hand people come to you for escapism and to see beautiful products and trips etc. But on the other, if you only show that side people accuse you of being shallow and tone deaf. But then when you do open up people attack those vunerabilities or say you're being insincere or demand to see the beautiful stuff instead because they want that escapism. It's a hard balance and I know I don't have the answer. It's why I couldn't be an influencer/content creator!

A few years ago I had a year where I experienced something along these lines.. illness in the family and my cat, a chain of events that were on me and I kept going and going until I crashed and it’s an ongoing thing to recover from, I wanted everything to end, my boss told me to leave it at the door but it consumed me so I quit my job and felt like I was falling apart.. I now have my own business. You’ve helped me more than you realise, the getting up and getting dressed, the little wins. Omg THE LITTLE WINS I echo this to others now, all the big moments, huge achievements (congratulations of course) are not what gets us through life. It’s what brings your joy in each day, routine, morning coffee, fresh air, the view from your patio is what will bring you back to life. 💖 and you did that while you were down, imagine what you can do when you are up. You’re amazing, thank you 🙏🏻

I watched a show about dogs and one of them wouldn’t walk. The behaviouralist said that when they stop it’s not because they WONT walk, it’s because they need to be allowed to stop to take it all in. Their senses are heightened, they’re tiny compared to their surroundings, and they don’t understand concepts and context. They don’t know they’re going for a walk and they’re supposed to like it they just know they’re leaving safety. Maybe just take him out and LET him stop, even sit. The animals on the show did this and ended up loving walks because they developed feeling safe.

I say the following with love and respect, but I think you have to remember that all we see of your life is what you put out on social media and RUclips. And that is mainly buying more things in one day than most of us buy in a year. So we see this constant excess coming from you, which is why some people, slightly unfairly, snap back at you at times and think you are ‘out of touch’.
Your audience need to understand that there is more going on in your life and more to you than just consumerism, and you also have to understand that we can only go off what you show us, to form an opinion.
I don’t think I’m explaining my myself well at all, and it sucks that you have been through a difficult time. I dunno, just trying to show both sides of the fence I guess.

Lydia, some people are just looking to hate, put people down etc. Anyone can be struggling, no matter what their financial situation is. If there's one thing I know about you is that you are a nice person and I know you shouldn't have to feel bad for having a hard time or for being happy about getting a new handbag. Everyone deals with things differently but it just goes to show how selfless you are you don't want to push your issues out to us because you want to give us positive things to watch. I'm so sorry you had to go through all that! Just know that there are some of us here who are always routing you on and overjoyed for you to see your life achievements! This is a very strange comment. I love your videos and do not think you have to tell anyone how you actually feel. I would watch your videos regardless of this. But this video made you human. Not just because you opened up about your feelings, but the whole video. That you emphasized that you should treat yourself to a good meal, that you went for a walk with Porter without make-up, that you sat on the floor playing with the dog. Everything about this video gave me so much. For it is, unfortunately, the case that when I see influencers posting about expensive nice clothes, that they feel good about running (something I have never felt no matter how hard I try), that they eat healthy food, have a beautiful house and everything is absolutely amazing. Then I sometimes feel anything but perfect. I think that's why it's a debate around that influencers that only show the perfect exist, because it gives a misleading picture of reality. You've made me eat healthy, exercise, achieve my goals, dress in clothes that make me feel great. So even though I agree with what you said in this video, and even though I'm 24 years old and should know such things, it still helped to hear that everything is not always good, even if one is Lydia.

  • @aylaaaa96
    @aylaaaa96 3 года назад +1

This conversation was so refreshing and honest. And I'm so sorry for all that you have been through and are going through. I think it's very easy to look at your life (before the most recent events) and think your life is perfect but this is such a strong reminder that we really do only see an hour of your whole week which is barely a drop in the ocean. As someone who also suffers with my mental health, I know better than most that you truly have no idea what's going on behind closed doors or in someone's head. Thank you for being so open and true. Even if you weren't going through all of this, I still enjoy seeing other people have enjoyment...be it a Hermès handbag or a job with a designer brand. Those things keep a lot of us upbeat and distract from the struggles that we face everyday. Anyone that responds so negatively, I often think is jealous and just very sad in their own life and that is their problem not yours. Thank you for continuing to vlog throughout even when you probably didn't feel like it. Definitely prioritise your mind and your heart xxx

I’m not sure why people rely on influencers for “an escape” I personally love home decor and furniture so it is awesome to watch but to incorporate the real life hardship one has to endure doesn’t take away anything for me it just makes Lydia and anyone else more authentic in which I appreciate. Hardship is also not the only part of life. To still be living and breathing Jesus’s air is a huge blessing so it’s ok to celebrate the good.

A deep sadness has been living inside of me and I too would keep it quite private, only talking to my husband. I discovered your videos at the beginning of March 2020 and you have brought me so much inspiration. Your love for beautiful things and a lovely home made me see how lucky I was to also have a beautiful home and beautiful things and I began to devote more time to my own self care and feeling good about myself. So thank you for that Lydia. You've helped me tremendously. I read a book called 'The Universe Has Your Back' and it has helped me in ways I could never have imagined. It literally brought me back to life. I think it will change your life xx

Lydia, Thank you for feeling strong enough to be vulnerable with us. Depression needs to not be such a stigma. I got very sick before Covid started and had to quarantine at home. Due to ongoing health issues I am still quarantined. It has been since Nov 2019 that I have been pretty much stuck at home other than a handful of trips out. My depression has been awful during this time. It is so hard because the pandemic has cause such isolation and loneliness. We need to look out for each other more.

Hi Lydia, only just watching this after a hectic week at work. What you’ve done is the biggest step in your journey and that’s opening up. As a mum of a son who suffers with mental health I have the upmost respect for you opening up. You continue to do what you do, don’t listen to the people with negative thoughts. Unfortunately we are in a world where some people don’t respect feelings. You are doing amazing and you should be proud of your achievements. I watch you and would love to own just one of your bags so to own what you have you should be proud, only you have achieved that. Well done you. Keep it up and look forward to a more positive future. Your on the right path, stay on it and anyone that crosses that path with negativity just keep walking with your head held high. Thinking of you x

Lydia thank you for being so vulnerable with this video. I'm a mental health therapist and have seen so many referrals at the hospital I work in.
When you can't recount the event, know that your body/brain have kicked into survival mode. When we go into that "fight, flight or freeze"/survival mode, our "thinking" brain shuts down, so it makes sense you don't remember or cannot recount the details.
You're an amazing, hard working, and a kind person. Sending you so much love, warmth, inner peace, and light.

I agree your job may not be as hard as others, but verbal abuse is hard. This is why I do not often read the comments of others because I do not want to see others being rude. When I worked with kids I used to tell them to always think before you act or speak. I am happy to see when others achieve and do well. It gives inspiration and we know or at least should know that there is a bigger picture. Everyday is not sunshine nor should it be...rain and sunshine are both needed for growth. ❤❤

I like content where creators are real and show the bad with the good, because it makes it far more relatable for me. Thank you for sharing this with us. I have hit that kind of a low, and I know what its like to admit that to yourself and the fear of sharing that with others. I'm an empath and incredibly sensitive, and I can relate to what you are saying. When I hit my low, I started a new self-care routine, and like you, I felt good and ended up stopping many of the things that were so good for me - daily yoga, meditation etc. Last year I ended up getting in quite a bad place mentally and physically. I wasn't taking care of myself. I finally realised that I need to do these things consistently, not just when I need them the most. If you would be happy to do so, I'd love to see more content where you share aspects of your self-care routine - journalling etc, not just the 'get ready with me' that focusses on the hair, makeup.

Some of us are better at dwelling in the pain rather than looking at our blessings and finding a piece of joy. I do think it divides us at times like these because all of us grieve so differently and we expect each other to put out the same level of grief. I am so sorry for your loss, all of us are dealing with sadness. I am losing my childhood dog and I don’t know how long it will take me to recover. To avoid Porter getting car sick, try a raised cushion seat specifically for dogs. It lets them see out the window which helps to avoid car sickness. And most have a harness mechanism to secure it to the seat and an internal harness for the dog to keep them safe in case of sudden stops.

Thank you for your honesty. I often differentiate between Responding and Reacting. Reacting is what you described; someone who doesn’t think before they speak. Responding is someone who pauses, listens, and offers the appropriate support or acknowledgment. It’s been a challenging year without any additional stressors, issues, or life changing events. It seems everything is larger than life or more than most of us can handle; myself included. I cry nearly every day and I don’t have support. As a healthcare worker, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of how things weigh more heavily than typical. Then it’s made worse by others who choose to judge, project, lack empathy or lack the ability to see beyond the moment.
You have every right to your feelings and never apologize. for them. Please know your feelings /issues are valid and you must never minimize them. Yes, there’s always someone less fortunate but it doesn’t negate our “neighbors” circumstances. I’m financially unstable, but there’s someone who’s financially unstable And doesn’t have a roof over their head; whereas I do. It’s relative and distressing to each in their own ways. I wish you peace and pray you continue to care for yourself in ways that will help you to move forward. Like grief, moving forward doesn’t have a timeline or a guide book. Take all the time you need...listen to your heart, body and mind. If you need to stay in bed, do it; but it’s okay if you decide to get up. If you want to run a marathon, do it, but it’s also okay to stop running. I do hope this reaches you to know I’m thinking of you and sending love and good vibes from the states. Also, if you don’t already follow Valeria Lipovetsky, check her out. She’s amazing and I think she’ll be good for you. xo

Thank you for being so open about something that people don't like to talk about, mental health. This is not a competition - who is suffering more. This is about each of us trying to make it through this thing called life which throws so much at us, easy and difficult, in the best way we can. I commend you for talking about this as you let people know that dealing with one's mental health is so important and it should not be a "dirty little secret", ever. With all the shut-downs, a lot of people are suffering even more so. This will be of help to so many out there. Asking for help is one of the hardest things to do and knowing that other people are going through the same thing is so important. I wish you all the best in your efforts to reach past the dark times and find that joy again. I'm happy to hear that you have a good support system to help you do that. This video has made me cry. So, so sad that you've struggled so much but you have every right to enjoy the fruits of your labour. We all do. It's unfortunate that you get such back lash for it. You are a luxury channel. Why are people upset when you buying something expensive. Your channel for me is a break from it all. Keep going Lydia, there's those of us that are here because we genuinely like you.

My Mum had a fall last year and had delirium as a consequence of surgery. It was extremely distressing so I know exactly how you just have felt. She is now in a lovely nursing home being very well cared for xx

You have been my lighthouse after challenging days..Your positivity, inner beauty, grace and joy with life helps me take another step each day. You help me see beauty in many things..I still laugh when you helped decorate the dinosaur xmas tree, just seeing your face as you threw the decoration...Always be true to your self you shine so brightly. Thank you for always making my day brighter. I hope all our positive message will lift you and help carry you at this time😍

Our family have just joined the many with lost ones of the virus.
I'm on a one strike and out policy at the moment as after totally self isolation of nearly a year Lisa's parents both took seriously ill within 2 days of each other, Mum came home on 24 th of January but sadly Dad became Positive whilst in hospital and Passed Away on Tuesday 2 no of February. Since the beginning of December they both needed extra care , even after doing our best it wasn't enough.
After moving in with Lisa's Mum on the 22 nd of January, My escape has become even more important to me . I may not have left as many comments but I wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss and also thank you for being my light at the end of very dark days .
Please take pleasure in life's gifts and joy from your work x. Your fur babies bring me untold joy .
Stay safe stay well xx xx

It's the first time I'm commenting on your vlogs although I've been watching them for a while. The reason I'm following you is because you give me hope that actually you can have it all in life, that with the right mindset and the right focus you can get in that sweet balanced place. The space you have created here is full of beauty and authenticity and it is exactly that effortlessness that seems to follow you everywhere that feels so good to watch. I am fully aware that the grass is not always greener on the other side but one can hope isn't it? You actually cannot give in and call it quits because the rest of us will loose hope for themselves, you get it?

Lydia: the more you shine bright the more darkness will be drawn to your light. (i.e the more positivity/light you are you will face negativity from others -the darkness) BUTPLEASE find the strength to keep being the bright positive example you are! I watch you FOR YOUR POSITIVITY and your optimism. You and Ali make me feel better BECAUSE you are so positive and i learn things from you that helps me grow and bring more positivity into my life!!! DONT CHANGE yourself for these people. they are not worth it and need people like you in their life more then they realise!!!! love you lydia. Warm and cheerful vibes to you from Australia xx

Lydia, you do you and what makes you happy. We cannot stop living our lives. I too understand the situation the world is in, I lost my grandmother. If I stopped looking forward to the even the small things in life then my mental health would spiral. We have to continue on as normally as possible despite the pandemic. Whatever helps get us through or brings a glimpse of joy I say more than ever, do it!!!
On a lighter note Porter is absolutely adorable. We got a puppy end of November so it’s been fun seeing how you and Ali have navigated being new puppy parents. 😀

Lazy commenter here but felt called to also bring up the word that lurks in those ol’ social media shadows...Jealousy. Keeping up such a beautiful home does come across as effortless to you but it takes a lot of effort! I’m doing that right now, trying to create a perfectly organized home & I’m overwhelmed with the amount of work it takes. You are doing awesome, Lydia. So many people watch you to be inspired 💫

We're all navigating choppy uncharted waters these days. It's a shame that so many others want to push some further off course. I regret that you had to go through such ordeals lately. You're very fortunate to have loving friends & family to help you help yourself. It seems that we both need time to process our emotions & are being helped by our therapists. We each have good days & bad days & fragile days. God willing that we have more good days on the horizon. You're an inspiration, Lydia, thank you!

yay, you just made my Monday better :) I think the lack of empathy is a real thing and that is because typically a lot of people can only see the world through their lense, that person's comment was more of a reflection of themselves than of you. A person can look through anyone's social media and find something they don't agree with, but it takes a well rounded person to understand that a difference of opinion is perfectly okay. I love your content, even though on a surface sense I am very different than you. Just know your appreciated here and most of us value your genuine opinions and personal view of the world :)

People can be really disgusting, I’m sure I have been at times too as no one is exempt from judging someone without knowing the whole story. However I’d like to say Lydia, I got rid of so many influencers this year and you are one of the very few I kept because I’m so happy for the life you’ve made for yourself, the house, the cars, the bags, the fur babies and your hard work, determination and attitude regardless of if it’s happy or sad or anything in between. You’re so blatantly a beautiful soul and it makes me happy to see others succeed and get the things they want and work for. There will always be nay sayers but a lioness shouldn’t concern herself with the opinions of sheep! Keep building your empire and keep your softness too, don’t let anyone think you haven’t earned what you have in life, that’s not their right. Keep working hard and take time for yourself the second you feel you need it, we will be here to continue to support you on your path to what you’re trying to achieve. You’ve got this, no matter what. Xx

You are beautiful inside and out. You never need to justify yourself to anyone and it is such a shame people feel they have the right to dictate what is right or wrong. You’re human, and you will unfortunately experience the worst things in life like everyone else. People should remember that there’s more to your life than what you choose to show on social media etc.
You’ve been my escape for a number of years now.
I lost my dad to Covid on the 21st Jan and I’ve never experienced pain like what I’m going through now. I put the tv on for the first time since his death 2 days ago and all I wanted to do was watch your channel and catch up. You never fail to put a smile on my face and you help me escape the devastation I’m going through, even if just for an hour or so. For that I thank you. Stay strong... but you’re allowed to grieve too, don’t forget that 💔❤️💔xx

Sorry you had such an upsetting time. A good message for everyone to remember to be kind - always. Thank you for sharing and for giving me something to look forward to (your videos - especially ones with an appearance from Porter!) during lockdown in Toronto. I miss traveling and even listening to your amazing accent helps. Sending love to you across the pond.

Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable. It serves as a reminder that we all go through things. We don’t ever know what is going on in another person’s life. What a great reminder and that we can be kind to each other.
