  • An Avionics Technician's Guide
    The Anvil Valkyrie
    The premier medium range dropship that can be used for close air support or combat utility operations.
    Today we will be doing a preflight walkaround , an internal walkaround in conjunction with the weapons package, reviewing the flight deck, analyze flight performance, and wrapping the video with some tactics.
    As for tactics I have mentioned this in my gunships and dropships video, but i'll say it again, a ship like this needs to be played to its strengths, you need to have a crew of 5 to work at maximum potential
    If you're going to provide close air support and you don't have all your turrets manned you are potentially hurting yourself and putting your troops and vehicles at risk.
    I don't see many people putting 20 grunts in this ship though, i see it being used to drop off a vehicle and liotering above troops, larger Orgs may see fit to this with proper escorts but again it may just seem like a risk over all, your tactics so your decisions
    What are your thoughts??
    I was an MV-22 avionics technician in the Marine Corps (6326) and now a functional test tech (34107) on the 737 program at The Boeing Company
    ** please be advised things are subject to change by the time the game is a final product, ship can and WILL change as needed by CIG***
    I enjoy making content centered around analyizing ships and game mechanics that affect the ship as well.
    Overall i have had some great feedback from this series, and i'd love to hear yours. I'm always trying to push myself and create content that is more than stating facts, its to help people figure out what role they want to play, and if the ship in question really fits the niche they desire.

    I'm really enjoying this series you've started. Consistently seeing and considering things about the ships I hadn't before. Would like to see you do this for pretty much all the ships eventually but for the next, I vote Cutlass. It's a very widely used ship and a common first step for those venturing into multi-crew ships.

    You are right that the Valkyrie needs some token SCU for extra equipment, provisions and spare parts but that may come in the form of extra lockers or those "cosmetic" cargo nets becoming a real thing in the game. I am not sure of CIGs logic on deliberately omitting SCU capacity. It may end up coming up again as an add on option. What does seem like a waste is that interior flip up blast wall. Maybe that's were future cargo secure holding plates can go. As for your presentation, it was more than educational, it walked us viewers in detail on how to turn on and access key functions of each combat station using Inner Thought. Thank you for the control station access walk through. Your video is on par with TheNoobifier1337. Professional work.

      The inability to carry cargo was deliberate so the Valkyrie wouldn't step on the toes of cargo haulers like the Freelancer. I'm not a huge fan of decisions like this, as a real company wouldn't care but this is a game so 'game balance' is the rule of the day.

    I'm really glad to see someone doing this for attack craft. I've been doing similar videos for cargo vessels.
    I'd love to see your take on how these craft could be used for escort. I have a variety of such craft for use in and around cargo hauling. While I don't expect to be doing much in the way of fleet movement, there will be times when cargo craft will need protection, and I can absolutely see a Hammerhead or a couple of Valkyries escorting a single Hull through dangerous space.
    I also love the fact that you do a walk around before takeoff. Once they get the wear mechanic in, I can see a lot of people being upset when their ship loses an engine or worse, because they never did a basic walk around to check for problems that could be easily fixed on the ground.

    Excellent video.
    I see the Anvil Valkyrie has the same problem as many Star Citizen ships, being poor cockpit visibility, especially when it comes to the ground. CIG will need to put some work into some kind of system that allows us to assist with landing and make sure the area beneath is clear of debris, especially when landing in the dark.
    For the Valkyrie there's a bottom turret where someone could potentially keep an eye out, some other ships don't have the same luxury.

      @NTC_Transport 5 лет назад

      CIG has already said that they plan to bring back the landing indicator for pads at some point, but I also expect they will eventually have some means of visually verifying landing suitability for places that don't have pads.

    Seer! Gimme moar! Good guide, and I absolutely agree, I'd like to see them add a few SCU at least for maybe even weapon storage or supply drops. Keep the guides coming :D

    The big ass vents on the front are retro thrusters. Also weight distribution CIG said will matter. So will missing an engine :). The chin turret has S4 gattlings on it. So to add on it will also provide heavier fire support than some of the S3s. Also about the tactics the large number of troops is because this craft is used in Squadron 42 :). Great video. Just adding on to your points!

    I seriously want this ship so much, I always seem to miss out when it's on sale for some reason or another.
    Last time, almost got it during the 2949 Showdown and I ended up having to buy a new clutch for my car instead.

    It's awesome to see a fellow two alpha doing these reviews! I thought it was funny that you had to land the jet in order to do the "pre flight," and that you said see you in the air and then cut back in after you entered the vacuum of space lol.

    Hey Seer great vid. I appreciate your thoughts on this ship, just bought one at the ship sale (and an M2....and a warden...and...*sigh). Had myself convinced I was going to be a space trucker and had a list of ships like the Max, hull etc to check out but it seems my purchasing finger is controlled by my former air crewman self.
    I see this ship being very strong when used in a well rounded fleet and still very useful for many other support roles with a scout/ escort. I agree with your point about cargo wholeheartedly- the more troops and the longer the op the more crap they are going to need. 20-40 SCU in a ship this size would be about right imo especially once full physicalized inventory eventually hits the PU. Surely they aren't going to consider pallets of ammo/ration packs/ cam nets and such as 'personal cargo'?.
    Have a great day o7

    Incredibly helpful video! One question, I couldn’t quite catch what you said with the door guns, what do you think is the most effective use given their compressed field of view? I assume covering for ground troops, but I’m a bit confused as to why the FOV is so small.

  • @SirAroace
    @SirAroace 5 лет назад

    SCU are going to be for bulk/trade cargo, all ships will eventually have personal cargo space not counted as part of their SCU capacity. This is where the cargo nets will come in.

    I really don't like how the crew area is open to the troop bay, meaning that if the crew is asleep or rotating shifts, you cannot open the ship if in space or on an airless world. Incoming fire when the main rear door is open could also impact the crew.
    The little flip up exhaust deflection panel is useless (well, it'd save the ladder), because all it'd do would be to redirect the wash into the crew area and ceiling.

    Nice videos and information. With your experience with the Osprey, I'd be curious to know what you thought of 3.6.2's Hover Mode?

    • @Seerthe6th
      @Seerthe6th  4 года назад

      Thank you!
      And hover mode in 3.6.2 made sense for modern day aircraft but didnt for this game. I did enjoy it but i knew it was going to get scrapped.

    • @Solo_01
      @Solo_01 4 года назад

      Ok, fair enough. I liked it though I felt it needed a few more tweaks like tilt engines for VTOLs to help forward movement to prevent the "helicopter like" tilting like 3.6 and 3.6.1 had. I felt that in 3.6.2, you could forward strafe without having to helicopter tilt forward to move in a forward direction. I felt that was a step in the right direction. However, my main concern is that Hover Mode prevented actions like this recent video from happening and is why we need something like it back in game.... I do not think those giant vents are engine intakes. I think the engine nacelles have the air intakes directly on them. Not sure what the hull ventilation is. Also curious as I did not see a radar in the instruments.

    It's kinda weird how most newer ships have a sufficiently convincing VTOL engine setup, and then you have ships like the freelancer, cutlass...890.... Yeah. Not sure how that will work in the future.

    Valk needs a rework. Hammerhead is a better and more safe option if you want some space secured, Hercules starlifters can carry vehicles and cargo and require less crew. Even Lancer MAX potentially better option than Valk simply because it's way cheaper and you can have at least two of those instead loaded with troops and vehicles with small fighter on top as an escort. For the same price! I'm not even want to mention how absurd whole "no cargo" argument sounds in official QA. There's more with decompression, door gunners sight blocked by muzzle flashes etc. But I love the ship design wise and own one :) There's also something going on with VTOL's "clamps" and undercarriage. I guess Valk will be able to carry/lift some heavy stuff eventually as well. At least some civil use potential right there. Thanks for the vid.

  • @dakuisha5978
    @dakuisha5978 5 лет назад

    No cargo is a massive turn off for me.
    I get that its a drop ship and its not designed to carry cargo but in the real world carrier planes don't care if its carrying cargo with legs (people), cargo with wheels (vehicles) and cargo in boxes.
    Other than that I might have actually considered picking this ship up.

    It's too big for it's role as an infantry dropship. Without a cargo grid it can't hold stuff in the back. I'd rather have a Vanguard Hoplite or a Redeemer.
