Juliana is one of the most consistent, productive, and interesting 90's alt rock people still working today. There's something infinitely cool about this, a combination of two things that were never considered cool at any point in time until now. Remember when she got shit from EVERYONE? Kim Deal? Riot grrrl? Melissa Ferrick? Zines with titles like "I am way more punk than Juliana Hatfield"? And look who has not even close to the last laugh in that scenario. I love her so much.

I couldn`t beleive that i missed out on her for the last 20 years. I thought she had stopped in the 90`s after the Juliana Hatfield Three. Saw her play in Somerville MA on her recent tour and she was everything i expected to hear. Die hard fan boy now.

This is fun on two levels. It's well done first and foremost. And it took testicular fortitude to record a tune that had ZERO cache among rockers. Win-Win.

I got the album this week. PHENOMENAL. This song was a cute, sexy, pop song. Juliana has made it fucking vicious. Like Olivia was being cute and provocative, but Juliana sounds like she's going to fuck you up.

It's funny... when this was released the record company went with this gym theme. The song was clearly sexual and had nothing to do with a gym workout. But MTV and ABC just went with it.
It's called "innuendo." The video was a deliberate choice, and MTV and ABC knew perfectly well what the song was about.

Aerobics were a very big part of the culture at the time the song originally came out, and of course the sexual revolution was still raging, so it was a big double entendre.

That's the thing about these over-hyped, over-processed pop songs: just because that's how we get to hear them doesn't mean they're bland or uninspired. It just takes an artist with skill, talent, and *freedom* to show us the song's qualities.

Julianna's a formidable talent so I was expecting something that wasn't paint-by-numbers with this single. Unfortunately, rhythm, tempo, vocal inflection are all Olivia's, not Julianna's. Sorry, but for me this is just one step up from karaoke.
