I have set up the plugin in my DAW in this way that I can enhance each new track with the eight different flavors of Epic via send. Together with the SSL UF8 , the SSL UC1 and SSL UF1 It feels like I‘m working on a mix console. I love this Plugin, thanks to CLA
I just realized all things i can do with different reverb plugins to enhance my drums. Thanks CLA and Waves you guys saved me some money. I don't need to get this no more. ✌️
I apologize for being boring, and I write this over and over again, but I really want this plugin to be epic. CLA mixing Three Days Grace - The Mountain (Mixing with the Master series), quote: "The reason I use the Buses also is, if I'm going to EQ eight pairs of guitars, why use eight plug-ins when I can use one? This makes the computer run better and you're using the least amount of plug-ins necessary, okay?" (!!!) And CLA uses sends in DAW in this course. Only 6 AUX Tracks and Plug-ins. Plate: lexicon 224, Room Reverb: Valhalla, Hall: EMT 140, Slap, Tape, Throw: 3xSoundtoys Echoboy. Delay sends to Room Reverb -6dB (slap -10dB) CLA automate reverbs and delays a lot. Waves, it's not epic to put this plug-in on each channel, because it's impossible to automate and it's increase CPU load. Combining into groups (for example, drums) also does not help much: Rooms is sent to the Room and Hall, Toms is sent to the same plus in Space, kick and snare samples are only sent to the Room usually. Also, CLA can remove the Hall in the first verse, add it in the chorus or bridge and increase Space for toms fills . Waves, make it possible to either disable unnecessary reverb and delay or integrate sends into a single copy of this plugin via mixhub.
I agree, we can't use this like he mixes on his console. That's what I was excited about. But I'm also really not impressed with the quality of sounds in Epic. A lot of people assume each delay and reverb is emulated, and it's not. The only thing emulated is a bit of his workflow, but definitely not the sounds he uses. I literally set Tape, Throw and Slap all to the same settings, and they were identical. That's the problem. It's not only supposed to be different in the settings, the point is also that each unit has its own character, so at the same settings, they should not be identical. Both the Plate and the Hall reverb in Epic are the pits, honestly. Even CLA Unplugged has a better Hall sound. What's up with that? And even that plugin offers more options in sound textures. Cheers. You are not alone.
@@jorykevinberger7047 Thank you for support. I agree with your thoughts about the sound and emulation of this plugin. But if there was a convenient management of settings more similar to SSL console, the ability to send everything to one plugin (maybe through CLA Mixhub), I would close my eyes to sound. And that's when it would be CLA Epic.
@@Arthur1SD agreed. the whole point is about his workflow. Instead, everyone will put a difference instance of the plugin on a track, with a different preset, resulting in totally different spaces. But the worst part is, it'll be 8 times the amount because of how many delays and verbs are being fed each instance of Epic. Where as CLA mixes into the settings he has decided upon, like you said.
"Why use only 1 reverb when you can use 4?" To me the drums sounded better without. At the end of the video it's so much drown in the reverb that it's aquatic drums.
@@DynamicRockers he wants to show off. I don't think he would ever use so much reverb on a commercial mix. I liked the flavor but I would add _very_ little of it on drums
would you also have CLA EPIC on the snare channel in addition to the drum room? if you don't use room mics would you put CLA EPIC on the drum buss or on the overheads? thanks so much! just got CLA EPIC - loving it! I'm more of a beginner so I'm using some other incredible presets
He doesn’t really send the top snare to reverb, maybe the bottom snare, for more sizzle, nor over heads either, it takes away from the impact. Just rooms, sample snares and toms. But hey, we can do whatever we want!!
Wattch the first part of this 3 part series where he demonstarates what he does on his console and outboard stuff. You'll see that he does and his reasons for doing so.
I hate the fact that Waves gave CLA more options in his plugin (check: RT LOW and RT HIGH) he has settings we normal humans don't have in our copy of EPIC. Kinda a bs move on their part....
It's encouraging to know that even on big budget recordings, they're using samples to enhance drums just like us bedroom guys.
I like the direct approach CLA has on mixing. No BS, just facts.

Chris Makes Engineering so much fun😎💯!....Direct and no fear🔥👀

One of if not the greatest mix engineer to share his knowledge!!
It's been awesome so far using this plugin. I like to EQ, Compress, CLA Epic, and then narrow the stereo width for an awesome realistic feel on synths

That is why I haven’t really used this plugin. Even the CLA HUB, I have to use it sparingly, they are very CPU intensive.

Dude is killing those drums!! 🤟
Love this brand (Waves) and admire Chris a lot
reverb plug in of the year!!!!
Love your content ❤️
I just learned that when you see a compressor or maximizer with "CLA" in it's product description it actually stands for Chris Lord-Alge.
that's right.... it also means ...it's "on"...
Hi Chris. Love this and very creative. I am using BFD3 to have some fun with. Happy New Year ! from the UK
Can waves make a vocal align. That would be great.😎
Amazing.. do u add reverb also in the kick?
It looks like he's putting Epic on the room channels, so there might be some kick in there, but not the direct kick mic.
he always put on the room track, never on the kick. except on the snare. but yes, in the room sound, you have kick in there too.
I see. Thank u
Dope!
Wave bundle? How
Flavor Flav! Sorry had to before someone else did..
so he uses it on snare drum only?
"Why use only 1 reverb when you can use 4?" To me the drums sounded better without. At the end of the video it's so much drown in the reverb that it's aquatic drums.
Agreed. If you listen to his Green Day mixes, I feel like there's very little drum reverb.
@@MixChecks yes Green Day sounds more like big room microphone takes. CLA is a top mixer but in those videos I wonder what he had in mind.
Sounds like crap IMO

Nautical drums
CLA: *makes a statement*

he did...he called it "sample"
Less recerb on the kick, and cut the lows from reverb sends to about 160 hz for kick , 200 hz for snare, etc
Purchased this and sadly got the version 12 as it’s not available in version 11. Will not work on my Mac.
hey, I planing to
Nice
Who wants to tell Chris there are solo/mute buttons on the strips?
:)
Shhhhh. Don't tell
How about some hot sauce ??? 20% of 2021 songs will have too much EPiC !!!!
Sometimes all you need is a little salt and pepper. Let the grill do the rest.
Mixing epic drums need an epic drummer.
does he really use this much reverb

no sirve para slate trigger
CLA: why use one when you can use 4?
i have the same situation but with ladies. why have only one lady if you can have 4? :-P
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
input & output meter are always red 😆
that how he roll on his console..they code it like that so you can hit it hard...
interesting.....
Very irritating so watch
Why make music anymore? The entire music industry is shut down, except for product review grifters on RUclips.
To each his own!!
Wow, don't be ignorant.
I must make music or I will die. It's part of my existence.
For fun?
you not wrong there,,,, so let's just do it for us, and have fun...like these guys on the Titanic...they kept playing until the ship sank...
