- Ride on NIR 3000 Class DMU 3004 on a Non Stop Express service from Bangor to Belfast Central / Lanyon Place.
This video was recorded in March 2019
With the lack of up to date videos being recorded due to the Coronavirus / Covid-19 outbreak I have been looking through my hard drives for older footage to upload as you probably know my aim is to mainly upload videos of older trains / proper trains such as loco hauled trains, thumpers etc but a few videos will show more modern rolling stock such as the cafs.
11:07 Nice view of the planes taking off.
Are all Northern Irish trains diesel-electrics? I watched a video of a 450-Class puttering away like a locomotive!
Sadly the era of Diesel electric units / thumpers on Northern Ireland Railways ended in 2017. Today all units on NIR are just bog standard Caf built DMUs
The CAF DMUs sound more like they have electric transmission than hydraulic. I know Siemens only make DEMUs (not hydraulic units), I don't know about CAF, who recently made electro-diesels for Northern Rail. They do not, however, sound like a locomotive.
Nice wee trip there Matthew. Hope you are all well.
You mean Matthew
