I'm SO happy you saw this! This movie is one of the Disney staples of Halloween, second only to The Nightmare Before Christmas!!!
So the reason for why Emily seemed to not even be phased by what was happening is because she was in a trance put on her by Sarah’s voice (a siren) so while she showed slight emotions like being a but surprised to see her brother, and then being confused when the witches finally sucked her soul….her body was in a trance so she couldn’t really do anything.
Just in case it wasn't clear the line from allison about there being nothing strange when they opened the book is to let you know they can't see the bright ass hell light only the witches can.
Some fun like, fandom headcannon: Each of the three sisters have their specific powers right? So we have:
1. 🙈 See No Evil: Mary has the power of sensing and seeking. (Tracking the children)
2. 🙊 Speak No Evil: Sarah has the power to hypnotize and enchant with her voice/ Siren Song.
3. 🙉 Hear No Evil: Winnifred has the power of consumption and absorption. (the potion to drain life, and always uncannily learning and adapting to her surroundings. (Learning the lyrics to "I put a Spell on You" after only hearing it once, coming out of the kiln speaking the different languages after being trapped with the audio cassette, throwing out modern world terms and shade at Max while he's driving. And just in general being the "clever" one.)

So this movie was originally written to be more a Disney Horror movie. It was scaled way back to make it PG. And even then some dark stuff made it through. I want to see what the original script was.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker's and Kathy Najimme are perfect as the wicked and infamous Sanderson sisters
I also love that they got Jason Marsden to voice Cat Binks.
When I saw this as a baby gay I remember crushing hard on Max and Thackery (despite his name) and got super confused when I thought I found Allison attractive but realized upon subsequent rewatches that it was just the fact that she rocked that red coat with the huge hood at the beginning of the film and thought it would look equally amazing on me lol.

Hocus Pocus 2 was filmed in my hometown (Newport, Rhode Island), they turned my entire town square into a Halloween carnival - I drove by the set every day! It's not quite as good as the first, but it's still a lot of fun!

@@a.g.demada5263 They did reuse the animatronics from Hocus Pocus on Sabrina, but Binx animated with CGI when he talks, whereas Salem is just animatronics when he talks. Both used real cats when they walked around though.

LOL ok I guess I'm like Ellie's brother cuz I can watch this movie year round. I can quote this movie all day long. I watched this in the movie theater when I was a little kid. I think my grandma took us. This has always been such a fun movie. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. This is probably my favorite hocus pocus reaction to date.

Her voice is to die for, she has always been a Friend and Ally, and SHAME ON YOU for running a reaction channel and never having watched 'Beaches'.
They just don't make rainbows like they used to. I KID, but no seriously, go react to 'Beaches' and bring like a million tissues because squirrel-fren just skip the plot and start sobbing as soon as the opening credits roll.
