Schubert-it is grey here in the New World on Ash Wednesday. It drizzles lightly but the wind is supple. You are always good for rainy days...Thank you Brilliant Classics!

This is a playlist of "impossible" --and yet possible-- total duration: 205 hrs, 17 mins, 39 secs !! And with numbered fully detailed tracks! Thanks for sharing!
schubert prodigieux ,, une vraie merveille de bonheur , de talent , de génie , et de grâce ,, le pianiste joue admirablement ,, schubert y est tout entier représenté , merci ,,
This release contains a selection of solo piano works by Schubert. An Impromptu is such a piece, typical of the romantic era. Franz Schubert wrote eight of them. The second series of four was only published after his death. They are all available on this release. Martijn van den Hoek is the pianist. Also featured are the Moments Musicaux, performed by Folka Nauta, and 3 Klavierstücke (Impromptus aus dem Nachlass) played by Pieter van Winkel.
I'd forgotten how poignant and beautifully constructed these Impromptus are. Perhaps the very term impromptu conjures up the idea of music being quickly and unthinkingly dashed off, but that's anything but the case with Schubert!
Well-constructed is one thing, but when you consider how short Schubert's life was, there's no way he could have spent a lot of time revising works after they were on paper. So, much like other composers who wrote a great deal of music, such as Telemann, Haydn, and Milhaud (just to name a few), I would bet that Schubert fully formulated his ideas before putting them down on paper.
Buenas noches,mi admiración por este joven músico, Betoven dijo de él ,3"tiene una chispa divina que donde yo la tubira la pondría en mis obras", gracias por esta selección, desde Colombia , en Armenia Quindio, gracias.
one of schuberts masterpieces the Unfinished Symphony was such a huge metaphor for a young life cut tragically short. when the critics heard it many exclaimed.."this is the equal of Beethoven" written at age 28? he was finding his own totally unique voice.
Splendid renditions by these pianists heretofore unknown to me.... the impromptus: Impromptu in B-Flat Major, Op. 142 No. 3 is as good as that of R Serkin. Thank you for sharing.
I do not really know because I have lost my head for some time! In any case, this magnificent music beyond all reason helps me to fall asleep peacefully. And it's happy because my invasive neuroses nibble at my healthy thoughts and I go around in circles my sickly madness. I’ m a great musical composer !........... ;-)
The players often reveal the composer's great beauties, but more often omit opportunities for lyrical musical storytelling a la Brendel, or countless others that tend to renowed for their sensitive touch/phrasing/legato and instead seem attracted to the piano-as-primarily-percussive-school-and-prone-to-ignore-dynamic-ranges. Its always splendid to hear Schubert, but.....Please consider anything Schubertian played by Novaes, Cortot, or especially Brendel, not to mention Rubinstein & Horowitz. The pianists here would do well to listen to the Horowitz recoding of the Impromptus, which although Horowitzian, illustrates musicality & lyricism especially well.
These are very good recordings as always on Brilliant Classics at a budget price. However, in Schubert Alfred Brendel puts everyone in shade, especially his survey of Schubert solo piano recorded for Philips in the 1980's that will never be bettered.

Take note of these ads and make sure NEVER to buy anything from these advertisers. Now that it's becoming impossible to watch these RUclips concerts perhaps it makes sense to go back to CDs.
Exactly. The invasive marketing behind these interruptions refuses to see that they are repelling customers, not attracting them. We not only have CD's & other recording technologies - by now (21st c.) most of us have an embedded habit of automatically rejecting any ad information; ads only register as interruptions, nothing else. More, probe the market/ad industry, & you find that they don't even have data to show improved profits from constantly bombarding us w/ "targeted" ads, or any other kind; there seems to be pure scam in selling these strategies to companies who actually make/sell things. Sadly, it also affects worthy charities & philanthropies.
Love this video!! I'm starting my own youtube channel with classical music and am trying to fully understand how to safely use classical music without violating copyright. Would you mind explaining to me how you used this awesome music in your video? Thanks so much in advance I really appreciate it! Copyright is so vague and confusing and its hard to find people to ask and get a clear answer.
I wonder whose painting it is. It hardly reflects Schubert’s concert life. Most of his performances were arranged in his peer groups- artists, writers- he was so poor, that Unlike Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelsohn, who were performing in high society salons, for Schubert the doors of those salons were closed. He died too young, but all his works, even the earliest ones, sound so mature!
Some seriously crazy shit among the comments here. Since these works are amongst the "curricular" pieces when you are studying, many "accomplished" pianists treat them with some disregard: fastest tempi, careless phrasing, shallow expresiveness... Some of these versions are just that. As for Schubert, many derogative things have been said about him; all those delusional mystic ramblings don't make justice to him either. Get some professional help, people. Great to have a full cycle of these pieces; a better interpretive work would be very welcome.
Schubert is one of the greatest composers of the world.
The more I listen to his music, the more I like Schubert. This is delightful, thanks for uploading it.

Horowitz was never a good Schubert interpretor! but of course, Brendel rules.

Excellent performances. It's sad the pianists are relatively unknown here (US).
They're no great names, but certainly all competent performers. They're all Dutch.
