Cignetti's mindset that is always focused on how to get better reminds me of Bob Knight.... Cignetti appears to be to Indiana football what Bob Knight was for Indiana basketball. We know this mindset works and it's what is necessary to make Indiana football a respected commodity that can then compete for top recruits. It will also make Bloomington, Indiana an attractive destination for those in the transfer portal. Cignetti was an outstanding hire. I believe I can already say that. Time could prove me wrong but I truly believe he's exactly what Indiana football needed. The future is bright in Bloomington.
@@ZonicZIt's almost guaranteed! Lol. That's a classic game where we're the better team, but winning on the road in the B1G is extremely rare for IUFB. We lose by 3 to teams that are worse than us, at their place. The big difference in these Hoosiers are their mental toughness.
Go Indy! I think we're gonna see a lot more balance amongst more different teams this year because of NIL and the transfer portal. Seems like the talent is being spread around more evenly this year. I expect a lot of upsets.

They deserve the weak schedule this year tho. They have had to play Michigan, Ohio state, Penn state, and Michigan state every year since they went to the divisions
@@JacobNormington-ue8ow Believe me, I know exactly how it feels being a beaten up Rutgers fan. Next year it's back to the House of Pain with Oregon, Penn State and I believe Ohio State on the 2025 schedule.
IU has is being predicted to finish 9-3 by many sources, including Badgers Wire, who just ranked the B1G teams by remaining strength of schedule. 3rd easiest schedule in the conference. If we finish 8-4 or better, Cignetti MUST get Coach of the Year!
In the past, Indiana has been explosive offensively, but they could never put it together in all three phases. The team I watched play UCLA looked like a complete team - great QB and receivers, solid commitment to the run game, solid special teams, and a tough defense that stops the run. The jury is still out, but it looks like a whole new culture under their new coach.
Coach Cig is the real deal! He says what he is going to do and then does it!! This is not the IU of the past! The IU of the past would have lost that road game at UCLA!
UCLA has more talent than any of the first 6 opponents. They are better than what they showed. O'Rourke has been awesome 9 for 9 on 3rd downs is a WOW!
As a long time UCLA fan: 1. UCLA administrators don’t care 2. They didn’t pay to keep the best defensive coordinator in college football 3. They have almost no NIL
They go into a season hoping to win 8 or 9 games that's successful to them. As opposed to Michigan or osu goes into a season trying to win a title. But I think IU can compete for a couple yrs tho.
Baby steps my friend. You don't go from the lower half of a conference that has almost doubled lately to a national title in one year after a new hire. Hoosiers are heading in the right direction!
Calm down and calm down. We have seen this story before. I pictured UCLA as not that good. Let's see what they do to a real big ten team like Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan state, Ohio state.
Good luck to you, Indiana is much, MUCH improved. I personally hope you guys are ranked/undefeated going into that game so we don’t overlook you before the Ohio State game. I do think because Indiana’s schedule leading up to the Neb game is entirely composed of the worst of the FCS and Big Ten teams that they could be in trouble with overconfidence. I remember back in 2016 early on in Mike Riley’s tenure we went on a bit of a run beating up on scrubs; We got ranked inside the top 10 and legitimately thought we belonged there, only to get blindsided by the talent and physicality of Ohio State. Now Nebraska is no Ohio State and Cignetti is no Mike Riley, but the Huskers are going to be leagues better than any of the teams IU would have played till that point. Now Indiana can still potentially win if they play a great game, but they have to be ready for that huge jump in intensity. That D-line will be in Rourke’s face all day. They’re going to force the Hoosiers to play their brand of football. They’ve got a punchers shot, but I’m personally more excited for the long term vision under Cignetti is y’all can hang on to him. He’s a good recruiter and will most likely have a resume to back himself up by the end of this year. Could get interesting.
UCLA is a total rebuild…not a good team to judge a team rated like Indiana, Indiana still sucks…ucla just sucks worse…neither will be in the final analysis

Bill Snyder K State might end up being a good comparison.
Previous IU teams would probably not have been 3 - 0 even with this schedule.

Lifelong Buckeyes fan. It's nice to see Indy finally doing something. I hope they have a fantastic season. Hope they can hang on to Cignetti.
He has said this is his last stop and I tend to believe him
Kurtis Rourke was Brady-like in the passes 5 to 20 yards from the line of scrimmage--very controlled and accurate.
