Bà Nà Hills is a hill station located in the Trường Sơn Mountains west of Da Nang city in central Vietnam. In 1919, the French colonists first built a resort here as a resting place for their tourists. Located at a height of 1500 meters above the sea level, one can see the view of the eastern sea and the surrounding mountains from here. After the Vietnam War, the Ba Na Hills were largely abandoned and fell into a state of neglect, causing significant damage. At the beginning of the 21st century, under the leadership of the Sun Group, attempts were made to revive the Ba Na hills and turn them into a modern tourist destination. They developed the area into a huge entertainment complex called Sun World Ba Na Hills. The complex has various attractions including a world record cable car, amusement park, gardens, French-style villages and the Golden Bridge.
The cable car at Ba Na Hills is a remarkable engineering feat and an important factor in making the place a modern tourist hotspot. Opened in 2013, the cable car holds several world records, including being the longest non-stop single-track cable car at over 5,800 meters and the highest elevation cable car within two stations. This cable car ride offers breath-taking views of beautiful landscapes and mist-covered hills. Its attractive design and engineering along with modern and comfortable cabins provide passengers with a smooth and pleasant ride.
The Golden Bridge is a 150m long pedestrian bridge that connects this cable car station to the gardens. Rising out of the vast landscape, it is a backward arching bridge held up by two colossal arms that look dated and ancient. It is characterized by two gigantic arms that appear to be made of stone, supporting a bridge made of fiberglass and wire mesh. The bridge was designed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. Completed in 2018, the Golden Bridge won international acclaim for its innovative design and has since become a symbol of Vietnamese ingenuity and the natural beauty of the Ba Na Hills.
One of the most loved places in Ba Na Hills is the French Village, a recreation of old-fashioned France with recognizable classical landmarks such as romantic castles, St. Basil's Cathedral, the old village and inns. Capture the atmosphere of a medieval French village with Gothic-style buildings, alleyways, streets lined with vintage-style lampposts decorated with colourful flowers, and more, and will transport you to a world of romance and nostalgia. Filled with cafes and restaurants, this European-inspired village will feel like you've been transported to France. A luxury hotel by the Mercure Hotel Group is also available for overnight stay here.
