What's the problem? Just say it's upcoming in a future patch, release a fake 'roadmap' for the game and then quietly drop the feature 3 years after the game's relaase when you've milked the game dry.
Do not even get me started, ours sold an entire site that didn't exist! Had 2 months to turn that around, now its abandoned in production because some of the team who worked on it are no longer with us, and because of the turn around we have no damn documentation!
Oh, we've had the same. But we produced something amazing for our procurement team. Far more advanced than the old clunky stuff we're constantly having to patch. What’s funny is I working on a title years ago that spent nearly £500k on a trailer for a game with a dev budget of around £1m.. we hadn’t even finished the prototype when the trailer was nearly finished. 😂 (the trailer had a story entirely different to the game, it never got signed off and sits in a pile of unreleased games somewhere). thankfully this happens a lot less these days but still an age old problem. Marketing teams want to drive hype on a game they have no idea if it will even sell.. it’s a chicken and egg issue I suppose.
Whoa, didn't know about this game. "The game was announced in 2012 and was followed by a successful Kickstarter campaign which drew over US$2 million. However, after more than a decade in development, no projected date for the end of early access in Star Citizen is currently given." "As of November 2024, combined crowdfunding and early access sales have reached US$750 million, becoming one of the most expensive video games in the world."
Did anyone get reminded at 2:33 of the time, when Rowan and Alan did a similar thing to Adam to agree with their opinion whether the Star Wars movie was good or not ? This is so good.

This feels incredibly accurate for what I imagine with "actual in-game footage"
I predict by the end of this series, the only person left alive will be Jake on his island watching the company burn.
I have similar ideas, but I think that Clint will be there too. Especially since his wife whom Devlin based Greta the garlic farmer on will have left him with all his money.
This is the BEST Documentary series in the Entire industry. Such truth in every second.
00:39 aaaand there it is
Love how Clint is basically just a small toddler in a grown man's body, interested purely in the jingling of money in front of him.
Starcitizen, is that you?
Tbh, this kinda represents my mindset as an artist.
BIG ideas, scenarios… and then, comes the efforts I’d have to put in there.
Well, eventually most of my efforts have been about that trailer in my head than making the actual work (considering most of it will never see the daylight). 😅😂
ahhh its ubisofts turn now. Shadows shade.
Considering that Skycraft also alludes to WoW, I'm guessing it was Shadowlands.
@@mikotagayuna8494 AoC is getting close to this territory.
Abby started this series being in awe of Jake and now absolutely HATES him
It's absolutely brilliant to how real this is
I use to see a lot of RUclipsrs saying "Take my money, I want this f*@#& Game!"
(And the only thing we have of the game or worst, of the skin/wayfu is a trailer 🤦🏻♂️)
Okay, everyone stay frosty and remember: No preorders.
This is why I'll wait a few weeks after a game drops, before adding it to my steam account.
Weeks? Amateur! Years rather!
@@AlexLeeder87 exactly, that's what I was about to say. I also wait years bare some rare exceptions
I wait years and then pick up the entire, fully patched-up bundle including DLCs at a discount. I refuse to beta-test broken products.
@@antred11 Got to agree, I'm thinking Cyberpunk is starting to look properly vine ripened
The pure horror in Delvin and Abby's eyes is just gold 🤣
Poor Devlin having a panic attack in the background 😢
Promise Department vs Sorry Department. That's how it works, everywhere. Poor Adam. Every engineer can feel you...
3:16 cough, cough, ashes of creation, cough
The sad part that in such situation the blame is often put on the developers for not delivering what had been promised, rather than management who promised what was impossible to deliver
God these mirror CiG / Star Citizens development so much.
There is the Parody. AAA devs would never spend 50% off the Budget on a Trailer. They would use unpaid interns to make them :P
secret video 🤯
This feels like every corporate meeting I've been through and I don't even work in gaming
Soooo, how long before they get a class action law suit for false aderverstisment/theft (assuming adam isn't able to work a miracle and make the game expansion)?
Never? This kind of shit has happened at least for three decades and nothing comes out of it (other than bad PR for a short while).
@GenericUserName443 sure, if they still some kinda content, their ok, but if they don't come out with anything at all, than it's just a straight up literal scam
Well, in Star Citizen's case they always show something, even if it's very minor, to state there is some form of development and they avoid any legal troubles.
Otherwise, besides minor cases of shovelware on steam, Idk a case of wide spread pre-sales/early access and they didn't refund when the project went bunk (even Concord gave refunds despite being fully released)
They get around it by arguing that they sell "entertainment". You try suing a movie studio because the movie sucked and see how far you get.
"But that's just a thing people say."
"No it's not."
Spoken with the same energy that Christmas was promised and then postponed.
3:22 - Ubisoft and BioWare indeed 😁
Kudos to your team for sneaking cameras into actual game producers meetings.
Am I a masochist for watching this? This is too real!
The after presales Ooooooo it´s the same of the one of the previous video when jake say money at the start.. Both times totally gets me
Hamish should presale some banaynays. MAYBE THEN he would not have to sell his children.
By the way , Freelancer 2 , or robinsons-industries ; have collected near 1 billion in pre-sales with their many many trailers . That game is slated to be launched 10 years ago .
