- Today I'm testing out three interesting kitchen gadgets, all of them by request, and all which seem to be pretty useful. I put them to the test and here are my results. One note: The Ninja chopper was about $20 when I bought it a few months ago but it looks like the price has gone up since then!

Bailey eyeing that burger like "But I mean you COULD share with me..." LOL
Yup. Lol. Baily is definitely one of our favourite RUclips dogs, and she definitely has those doggy eyes (for food :-)
He could have let the dog have it. He didn’t put any spices in the mixture.
@@dcwatashi For all we know, Bailey is on a special diet.
@@QuartzK possibly but chances are not
@@dcwatashi Bailey is elderly, it's very common for dogs her age to be on special diets.
I much prefer your reviews than others I've seen on RUclips. The main reasons are, you get right to the point, show what you really get and how easy or hard it is to set up, really try it out live to show how easy or hard it is to use and really show how functional it is. I find you very trustworthy and honest. I like that you don't joke around or give long anecdotes about your life. Also, seeing Bailey is a big bonus.
I hadn't given it much thought but you nailed it. He gets right to the point he shows you what he's reviewing and puts it through its paces.
The Souper Cuber also works as a baking pan. I make individual meat loaves and mini bread loaves. They turn out great. I do find that if after removing from the freezer you leave it out on the counter top for about 30 minutes the food comes out easier.
It doesn't melt in the oven?
@@dannydaw59 It's silicone designed for high heat and low freezing temperatures. Just keep check the temperature ranges. I tend to not go above 400F.
It amazes me how they manage to keep coming up with ideas to sell us $2 worth of stuff for $30.
You're probably overestimating the value of a dollar, not the same anymore as it was 20 years ago.
I have the super cubes, they work well. It’s good for single or two people house holds. I can make a big batch of stuff and freeze some for easy meals later. I put the frozen cubes in freezer bags and label them so I know what it is and when I froze them.
I have some knock off super cubes. The knock offs with more rounded edges work better. The sharp angles make the frozen product tougher to release. I used the large cubes for leftovers all the time. I freeze, pop out, stuff in re-useable silicone freezer bag, label with that blue painters tape, and store in freezer till I need it.
Thanks for mentioning the reusable bags. I am working my way through my original plastic bag supply (I wash and reuse the "disposable" plastic bags so the supply will last a long time), but once they're gone, I'll be using mainly the silicone, truly reusable ones.
@@TamarLitvot Heads up on that: on the reusable silicone bags I got, the zip locks stopped working pretty quick. The bags still work - I just roll the tops closed and clip with a binder (I use the cheap metal office supply binders) but if/when these wear out, I'll get the ones with the roll top closures.
I'm rolling the tops shut anyway, might as well buy them that way.
@@loriki8766 Thanks! The ones I got have a separate plastic piece that slides on and keeps them closed -- so sort of like what you do already. I just bought some from Trader Joes but don't know how they close up
I bought knock-off ones too. I did find it better to not over fill lol I had a hard time removing the pureed veg.
Right now I can't swallow so all food goes into a gtube so to get real food in me I puree a lot and freeze then I can mix and match for easier dinner prep for me.
The veggie ricer looks suspiciously like a giant pot grinder
exactly 😂
Nothin wrong with that 😂
Yes, yes it does. 🤣
Yup 😂
Stoner invention confirmed
I see a lot of homesteaders use the souper cube for making their butter squares. I would love to make the hamburgers with the burger press. It looks awesome.
Love my super cube! Have been using it for well over a year. There are just some dishes you just can't make a small amount of and for empty nesters this solves the problem. Also if you have elderly family members you fix meals for, it's wonderful! I freeze the blocks, then put either in a small freezer bag or vacuum seal it for longer storage.
I have all sorts of silicon moulds of various sizes. These are far too expensive for me. Silicon is silicon. Mine's not branded, cheap, abd $2 or $3 each. I buy the cheapest I see when there is an offer online.
Ricer is dumb. I use a meat grinder. Ninja's too expensive for me. Mine's literally unbranded anywhere. But cup is metal, about 2x larger, $8, and chops up all sorts of stuff, from meat, to carrots, onions, and garlic. Grinding up carrots on the manual ricer will be a LOT of work. I used mandoline, and even that was tiring. I have a dog who's now eating mostly veggies.
He's constantly hungry, and when he arrived, he was so overweight his body was round like a fat hotdog. Vet suggested less meat and more veggies. More bulk, less calories. I have now switched to giving them raw instead of cooked for the same reason.
@@danielch6662 - But not all silicon molds are created equal! I have many, some fir baking, some for candy making and yet more for crafting. Some of the cheapies are much thinner and don't hold shape as well or last as long. Also not all silicon is food grade, so it's important to be able to know and trust the seller.
I have this super cube too, but also two additional sizes. Each has the same footprint but different sized cubes. While I like it, I wish it would collapse for easier storage (like the collapsible colander) or nest together.
I always enjoy it when you bring out the Ninja Chopper to test against products. I'd love to watch an entire series of just the Ninja Chopper against other products.
Do it like the old Blendtek videos. Does it chop?
I only got to one-one-thousand by the time that Ninja made tiny bits of that cauliflower. Easy win.
7:30 Just skip the middleman and put the soup in the freezer bags to freeze. 1 cup of soup is not enough for most people but if that's what you're aiming for, most ladles are 1/2 cup so two scoops into a bag and presto, 1 cup of soup.
I've had those Souper Cubes for years. I freeze stock in them. They work great and still look new after dozens of freezes.
If Ninja does a infomercial for that chopper and DOESN'T hire James as the pitchman, they are all clinically insane.
I use souper cubes, and have learned to hold the ladle over a paper bowl on the way to the cubes, so most of the drippage goes in the bowl and can be recovered. I also tend to stash the frozen bricks in a vacuum sealed bag, then heat them back up in the sous vide machine.
I have carpal tunnel syndrome and I can just feel my hand cramping up, watching him do that cauliflower rice grinder
B vitamins
Bailey in the background wanting that burger patty.
Tip for long-term freezing of soup blocks: Wrap each cube in plastic wrap before putting it in a freezer bag. Your freezer's automatic defrost cycle will cause them to fuse together in a single block otherwise.
I like the idea of both the souper cube and the burger press. I would use both of those. The cauliflower ricer looks to be hard to do if your hands and wrists aren't up to the task. Which mine are not. Thanks for the video, James!!!
You've got a good supervisor there with you.😊
The hamburger press looks great but then I realize that I never once thought "I wish I had a gadget that would save me these 20 second of hamburger making"
Plus it's kinda dumb to have that in freezer once a few r missing. Wasted space
I'll give it points for being nice and flat, whether you keep the shape of it or not, it may be useful for portioning
I like them for the uniformity. If you had a food truck or something you could use a couple of these to prep tons of burgers and make sure they're all the same size.
You wouldn't even have to freeze them in the forms, but you could.
I've prepped burgers with scales and biscuit cutters and its a PITA
😸
@@aisforannihilation1662that's why you portion them in Ziploc bags afterwards -_-
I like all three of them but I agree... they're kind of expensive. I love how Bailey knows when you're working with food, and comes around, just hoping for something. Awwww... 😄
James, I think the pot that you used to reheat your frozen stew has seen better days😂😂😂👀
That Cauliflower ricer reminds me of a giant pot grinder lol
Probably a good use for it.
Bailey: "So u didn't make me a burger. I see". Pets r so good at guilting us.
For both the meat patty and stew freezing thing, once it has froze, you can take it out and individually packed them into maybe ziploc bag or vacuum bag then chuck it into the freezer, it would take up less space without the freeze tray. It free up the tray again to either keep it away or start freezing a new batch.
The second one is essentially a deeper ice cube tray.
Now they'll have to try soup frozen in a regular ice cube tray!
I'd buy an extra and make my homemade soap.
The silicone thing seem like good ideas for portion control and / or people who are single / elderly. A simple idea, but seems more useful than a lot of the gimmicky items.
I use the Shape and Store burger containers. They save a lot of space in the freezer because of the flat uniform size. I use the patties though as rough estimates for other recipes (roughly 1/4 pound hamburger each). It is nice if you are cooking for two.
If you want the burgers to come out without freezer burn, place them in the fridge uncovered for 1 hour, then freeze.
How does that work?
@@kennethanway7979 I'd assume that since it starts cold already, it freezes faster which means the ice crystals that form will be smaller, preventing freezer burn.
@@AirLancer cool! That makes sense... thanks!
@@AirLancer I thought freezer burn was when the surface of frozen items, meat or vegetables were dehydrated by moisture loss..
Refrigerating will slightly dehydrate the surface making the meat freeze faster. It'll also cool the meat allowing it to freeze faster and more evenly.
I think the Ninja in the last won by a mile, not only quick but a multitasker. Great video, thanks.
i have the shape and store. i smash the hamburger up and add onions or whatever in before putting in container. once frozen, remove and put in freezer bag. it isn't meant to keep in the freezer, the food will freezer burn in it. you can store in the refrigerator, not the freezer.
I have more than 10 one cup Super Cubes and 2 half cup. I love mine absolutely no complaints. They fit better in the freezer inside the cubes. The half cup makes ice cubes that last my entire drink plus.
*Love all your videos! Ninja is my favorite brand, hands down. I use my Ninja blender every day for either making homemade cat food for my elderly kitty, or for making smoothies. I'd buy that little Ninja ricer over the other ricers any day. I guess I'm a Ninja snob? lol Anyways, I cracked up when I saw Bailey giving the burger the eye haha!* 😂
I've been using the Souper Cubes for a while now & I love them. You just pop the cubes out into a Ziploc bag & you've got the perfect amount you need each time.
I have used the souper cubes for around a year (?). I think they are great. I make giant pots of soups and stews and there are always portions left over that my family wouldn't eat and I would wind up throwing out. I now put them in souper cube. Once frozen I individually vacuum seal them and they stay fresh in the freezer for a very long time. You can reheat the bag in a pot of boiling water or use the microwave. Very convenient!
I love my souped cubes! I have the large 2 cup size and what I do is a bake items into an individual size vs a large family pan. Then I put it in the freezer to freeze for about 12-24 hours. Once frozen I use my vacuum sealer to ensure they last longer in the freezer.
If he had sprayed the silicone with oil or even Pam, it would’ve definitely been easier. And I don’t know why he didn’t think he could give Bailey a Plain hamburger he didn’t put any spices in. Dogs are allowed to eat meat.
The burger press looks pretty good and I’ll definitely consider buying one. I like that the burgers are all the same size.
It is nice to get all of the burgers to be a uniform size and shape.
Great storage also
I like the idea of the Souper Cubes, however, I'm wondering if odors , like garlic, onions, etc. stay in the silicone. Nobody mentions that, so I'm assuming they wash out very well. I never have that luck with silicone items, no matter how long I soak them, I still have that smell from certain foods that never seem to wash out. Bailey is just adorable and has mastered the ''I'm starving to death" look. What a sweetie !!
Silicone definitely holds onto strong smells. I can attest with instant pot liners and super cubes. You can only get so much of that smell out even with a dishwasher run a couple times.
Will baking soda help with removing the smell?
Never put hot foods into silicone or wash in hot water. Wipe the food off with baking soda first, before soap and warm water.
If what you have is 100% silicone, you heat it in the oven, and it will release the odors. I have even done the gasket for a thermal mug in the oven. The silicone expands when it is heated. So, the odors become trapped in between the molecules as it cools. When heated it lets them back out.
Best episode ever, I like this kind of kitchen stuff
My partner and I bought the 4 cup souper cubes (2 cup portions) in a pack of two and they are my favorite thing in the kitchen next to my vacuum sealer!! We usually take them out once frozen and vacuum seal them to save space.
I would like you to test and compare different analogues of the Genius Nicer Dicer vegetable chopper, because the original is quite expensive. Thank you in advance!
1:28 He even washed his T-Shirt into blue! 😄
I like the burger press. Makes quick work of making uniform patties and easy storage in the freezer. I like the Souper Cubes, but I would probably use it more for huge ice cubes. The Cauliflower Ricer works, but I would use the Ninja too.
Give pupper a burger!
Agreed, he looks older now, let him enjoy it while he can! Just rinse the grease off and let it cool to room temperature....
Just put a cup or two of stew in a ziploc and cut out the $20 middleman! 🤣
I’ve used the souper for a couple of years. You can wrap the blocks in regular plastic wrap then drop into the freezer bag. The bag stays clean and reusable.
I buy the round tube of ground beef and cut 1" sections off (like you would do cookies) and then freeze each burger in a ziploc.
Yep!
Look at all that freezer burn on the burgers. No thanks.
I would either load that hambuger mold the other way (load the cups), or I would use the bottom, and rather than freeze it in the device, I would turn them out fresh onto a lined cookie sheet and freeze and transfer to ziplocks - that way you could make a lot burgers at once, not just 1 round of 'em at a time. I have the souper cubes, they are great for dealing with leftovers.
🙄
You are the best out there. I usually don’t buy anything until I see if you did a review on it. Hey, thanks so much.
I LOVE my Ninja chopper and would never go to a manual chopper! ❤🎉
That Souper Cube would be perfect for chili and soup season here. There’s only three of us and most recipes leave a good amount of leftovers. This would be good for freezing them up and then bagging for the freezer to pull out portions later.
Could you try putting an ounce of herbs in that last one? Asking for a friend
I love my Souper cubes (although I have a knockoff brand)! I have food prepped many different things and froze them, then took the frozen cubes and vacuum packaged them. It's a space and time saver!
I bought a 2-pk burger press at Costco a few years ago. I really like it for portion sizing hamburger for my recipes. Also I use it reverse to how you showed. I find it easier to fill and pop meat out of the hex side and for putting the lid on and off.
I love that burger press I might just buy that! I love turkey burgers for my meal prep on top of my rice and the shape just makes it more fun.
Pretty sure Snoop Dogg has that veggie ricer
LOL! Probably P. Diddler too.
Both the hamburger and soup container looked good but like you said the portions were small. I use a tupperware container to press my hamburgers in and then I turn them onto a sheet of saran wrap and then wrap the whole thing in the wrap and freeze them. Just peel them off. A bigger patty and it fits a couple slices of bread when out of buns.
I thought he would have the stew with some rice or pasta - I think then the portion would make sense. Otherwise, it would be good for baby food portions
Hmmm. The burger press and the super cube both look interesting. After freezing a person could vac seal any number of patties or cubes and have them in the freezer long term.
That first one seems fantastic if you have a family to feed. If you are single not so much. The second device looks very nice. Freezer bag might freeze them into one big block. Maybe put some parchment paper between the cubes.
3:30 Missed opportunity there. You should have made the hex shaped burgers in the hexclad pan lol.
I didnt know the ninja chopper was so cheap.
I was surprised when he said that. I wonder how old his is? Maybe bought it a
long time ago. ☺

@@DoomedCookie69 Thanks for the link and info.
@@DoomedCookie69 Damn I even watched that episode and never put 2 and 2 together. I shoulda got me one.
It's 22.95 at my local Walmart.
I'm really digging the burger press, makes burgers super easy and uniform. I would get one if I had the freezer space, so I still hand pat my burgers which is still ideal because I can make my burgers as big as I want
Love your reviews!
For portion control the burger press and cubes will be great. I make tons of Cauliflower rice in my Super Shooter with the grater drum. The other seems a uni-tasker.
The burger press and souper cube look real handy, especially for meal prep and stuff
Shout out to the Gotham Pasta Pot. I bought it years ago after I saw your review. It still is holding up fine. A little wobbly/warped at the bottom, but it does the job just fine.
I want to see what happens if you put soup in the buger maker and burger in the soup cuber. 🤔 Soup Hexagons and Burger Cubes. Also how many Soup Cubes would it take to make a soup-gloo
I like your thinking! 😂
The burger press is pretty neat. I have one that does individual burgers, but never did my mind conceive you could press eight burgers all at once!
The burger press is definitely useful. Quick old trick. Just smack the whole thing on a hard surface to separate and you can portion them in Ziplock bags. Im definitely buying.
Poor Bailey. She was like, "Dad...Dad...Dad...drop the burger...DAD!"
I might pick up that Super Cubes. Mom and I make a lot of soups and stews ahead to freeze and I think these will be perfect. Plus, I won't keep running out of dishes lol.
I have different sizes of soupercubes and love them. I use for soups and chilli and the bigger 2 cups for lasangas, shepherds ie etc. they can cook in the oven which is great too. Their website has some excellent recipes . thanks for the video
Not using the hexclad to cook the hex burger was a huge missed opportunity for a cheap laugh lol
Thanks for the meal prep gadgets. I don't like making hamburger patties by hand or paying a higher price for pre-made patties. That hexagon press looked great.
A question in two parts: Why is your pot for reheating the stew so nasty looking? Don't you have a million pots and pans?
I freeze soup and stew by putting a freezer bag inside a margarine container. Same result but easier to place in a full freezer as each is individual.
For the burger shaper, it probably not ideal for long term storage, ice was forming inside with the meat meaning air was getting to them thus freezer burn will set in quicker
Why can't you just use ziplock baggies instead of a super cube lol
Souper Cubes... I saw someone on Dragon's Den pitching frozen food like that, for portion control. I thought it was genius. Dragons weren't interested. I bought some silicone mini-loaf trays and started making my own frozen portions. The mini-loaf trays cost a fraction of what Souper Cubes wants. Oh, the mini-loaf trays don't have a lid. So I put something on top of it when freezing. Once frozen I shrink wrap them before putting back in the freezer again.
i hope you gave that to the doggo
I might have to pick up that burger press, I prefer to make and freeze 1/8 pound patties but I don't see why it wouldn't work for that as well. Sure would save me a lot of hassle compared to the way I do it now which is to meticulously weigh and shape them with a ring mold on a cookie sheet.
I really like the first 2 products, I wonder if you were to spray the burger press and the ice thing with a little pam cooking spray, they may pop out easier, I like them though!! The ricer thing I don't think I have a use for, at least not yet, lol. As always, great video my friend!
I agree about the first two being the best! If those burgers had been more of a problem to pop out, I would have sprayed it, and that probably is the solution if they are difficult to remove.
Glad plastic storage containers work just as well in the freezer and are a lot less expensive.
I Love Freakin Reviews Videos 🧡
ngl, I thought that the burger press would be a stupid idea but then the storage thing was the real draw. portions out quarter pound portions of ground meat. really useful imo.
At 1st, I thought the burger press was pretty good. It *is* if you need to store flat. Otherwise, why not just flatten it out in a pan, or even on the counter, cut in a grid, & stack with paper between or lay flat in a bag?
Pretty much the same with the next one. If you have to put food away while warm &/or transport it somewhere & it has to be that shape. Otherwise, regular containers should suffice.
I wouldn't want to store or wash either of those. Same for the ricer. I agree that it's good if you need to make it frequently &/or have multiple uses &/or if power is a factor.
Always nice to see Bailey & always a pleasant vid.
Nice review, both the burger press and the souper seemed useful! Really liked the outtro music as well, nice vibe!
with the burger thing try putting cooking spray on it before putting in the freezer
James, you realize an "Amazon choice" doesn't really mean anything. It's like saying something is healthy because it's "all natural"
Love the burger press but my husband likes bigger burgers. I made him 2 1 lb burgers yesterday.......like the Souper cubes. The ricer looks good thanks for trying these things
It makes 8 quarter pound burgers in "seconds." Or 8 Royale with cheeses. 😄
Heck, I can rebuild your transmission in "seconds"... I just can't guarantee how many. 😆 Ah crap, I'm starting to sound like Jerry Seinfeld.😀
Seriously, though... they all worked well, but I can't find how I'd use them.
And Bailey is always a welcome addition.
I'd pick the chopper. "If there's a power outage"... please do use a knife for a minute. Does the same - if not a better - job than combs made out of plastic.
I have a small version of the veggie river on my desk! It sits on a metal tray next to my herbal medicine! Hahaha
Hi. , love your videos . Always looking forward to the next one . Would it possible to test the spin mops , scrubbing brush that’s always on TikTok ? Thanks
been using those soupers cubes for almost a year. mostly for big icecubes that lasts forever. used almost daily still works as brand new
Never had any use for a burger press rather make them by hand and save washing a dish and the space required to store it. I have plenty of containers i could freeze portions of soup and etc without the need for a specific item for it. I have no need for the ricer as i don't eat my veggies that way.
What I didn't like about the hamburger one is that you could already see frost. Which means there will be freezer burn soon. So it is not airtight.
Great video As always should remove some counter top ice makers like budgets one then more expensive ones that make nugget ice would be great video especially for summer
