  • Hey Gang,
In this video I try my best to show you how to switch out the rear shock spring on my Yamaha YZ250X. If you don't know what spring you might need go to the Race Tech Suspension website and use their spring finder app... they have you fill out a couple questions about your riding style, age, weight etc. and then the app gives you recommended springs.
I then took that information and went to Rocky Mountain ATV/MC and used their site to order the springs I needed, they had them in stock and offer free shipping on orders over $75 dollars.
These YZ KYB shocks and forks are the best stock suspension in the business, but you do need to have the right springs for your weight.
My channel for the near future will be all about Dirt Bikes and specifically the Yamaha YZ250X that I bought in September 2024. I will be making Videos about :
    Riding Tracks, Trails and Motocross
How To videos on Dirt Bike Maintenance, Repairs and Mods
Reviews on anything I really like and believe in.
I am a Vet Rider in my late 50's and live in Central North Carolina and ride MX tracks within the state.

How do you feel wrenching on the Japanese bike compared to the Chinese? I've just started to get my KX ready for my first ride. Setting the suspension clickers on the Showa suspension is much more distinct than setting the SZC. Much easier. But I prefer the Torx screws and bolts on the Chinese bike before the hex on the KX. Some parts have surprisingly held up better on my Chinese bike even though it's been running 2.5x the number of hours. Sprockets, chain guide and guard to mention a few.

@@tomatdb52 ..I enjoy working on any Dirt Bike...prefer 2 strokes as they are technically easier...the suspension is the biggest difference fir the better.

@@Dirt_Bike_Dave Spot on! I feel happy in the garage 😁
Yeah, I prefer the 2-strokes too. The cylinder with that 4-stroke crap will probably kill me when I'll have to take a look at that...

@@tomatdb52 I found it very helpful to video the process of taking the 4 stroke head and cylinder apart..to help keep things straight...plus good shop manuals exist for the Kawasaki.

@@Dirt_Bike_Dave Yes, it's easy to go back to check if you don't remember how it was assembled. Yeah, I've downloaded and printed the manual. Good to have a proper manual.
