    Just read these comments. The guys that design the interiors have never been thrown from one side of the boat to the other.

      this yacht is designed to look good on renderings and photos, and to impress a journalist with how close to a racing scow they are shaped.
      it is not meant to be used in any sort of challenging weather, the poor build quality will remind you not to use it for such as well.

    Huge windows on fenders level might be a bit risky in tight marinas. I saw one being commissioned in Sibenik few weeks ago. Awesome design! Great for mediterranean family caravaning in my opinion.

    FFS. Why don't these manufacturers just skip to the end point and mould the entire hull in Lexan? because it's soooooo much more important to let light in than keep water out.

      On Sailing Doodles RUclips channel they chartered a Dufour and found it was really noisy and creaky. Lots of complaints.

      would be an easy fix, put some felt tape underneath the wood during build.
      an apprentice could do it in an afternoon.
      tells you something that Dufour can"t be bothered to do this even on the boats that get exhibited.
      if you ever get on one, you"ll see lots more examples of bad planning and craftsmanship.

    Hi Toby, worth noting for “integrated” deck flush Flexible Solar Panels that most on the Market are rubbish, and delaminate within 2 years, and stop working. Maybe Dufour are still searching for flexible panels that will reliably keep working long enough ?Also interesting for the Charter version of the 44 , is a much better and nearly there draft of 5 foot 3 inches, and only needs a further reduction of 15 inches to be really useful for Cruisers, or 9 inches less to start being liveable with . Also very interesting, is the Standard inboard Diesel has been changed to a 57 Hp, which Suggests that might be the much better Yanmar ? That Stupid Hexagonal Saloon Table so wrecks the entire Layout setup for Cruising imho,that it is seriously grounds for firing the interior Designers, and calls for a proper interior redesign, that is perhaps going to be assisted with aTwo Cabin Version, with the Forward Cabin Altered to have an actually usable slightly offset Pullman proper rectangular Queen Sized Double with Lee Cloths, rather than a walk around with weird cutouts that on passage catapults those trying to sleep out of bed . Right now, a terrific hull design has been wrecked by the interior designers who haven’t got a clue about the needs of Cruisers or Voyagers Frankly. I am in the process of negotiating with an Agent Broker, who is trying to get changes made that will meet my Cruising Specification, given that Dufour is sincerely attempting to change its direction heavily towards Cruising, and I am happy to say that so far, progress appears to be being made. Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧⛵️

    The interior designer never stopped to ask why you typically don't go for open plan solutions with lots of air on sailboats? The entire saloon space is unusable while underway...

    Crazy. Just get a 42 foot cat with vastly more stability, front trampoline, and easy dinghy lift between the hulls. With separate hulls, couples also have more privacy.

  • @someguy9440

    Fairweather party boats? Sure. I wouldn't want to cross the Atlantic on one, but I love some of the ideas they've got going on here otherwise as someone with family and grandchildren on the way, thinking about some nice coves to spend weekends on the hook. Dufour know their target customer pretty well and let's just say that most of these boats are probably going to have high engine hours and a single slightly tattered headsail that's never properly furled up on its UV strip. I'd go for the performance model to get a real mainsheet. To be fair, with the chined hull I bet this thing goes like stink when trimmed up and on her lines. I wonder where the IRC rating is going to fall on it.

    • @illdeletethismusic
      @illdeletethismusic 13 дней назад

      if you use it as a party boat, be aware that toes can easily fit into the panel gaps of the cockpit hatches, so don"t get drunk enough to stumble over them

  • @markom566

    That interior is a hot mess. They need to go back to the drawing board on that. Did anyone else notice the two cubbies in the aft room that are perfect for banging your head or foot on a sharp edge

      judging by the build quality you can see even on their boats at the shows, not much of the interior will be left after 30 years.

    Needs to be trailerable to work in the North American market but yes these hull designs despite being 50 years on now are just now starting to take over the US Boating market which hasn't built out an innovative hull going on 100 Years now #thistle_sailboat #laser_sailboat not even Nordhavn actually although a great vessel that one😊

    What a shame. I own a Dufour 44P from 2008. A real sailboat. I would have loved to see an improved version when they decided to keep the same name. What a shame. This modern floating caravan has nothing to do with sailing.

    • @chargedbystars
      @chargedbystars 4 месяца назад +5

      Thats the best description I heard so far. Those newish boats resemble more of a caravan than a seaworthy vessel. But as everything in this world, it is more about showing off than enjoying a sophisticated grounded machine.

      It's the current trend. The future is taking sturdy construction from lessons learned in disasters like the infamous 1979 Fastnet race, and combining it with modern technology and comfort. Already Kraken yachts are doing that, and I'm sure there will be a few more in the future.

    Wow such backward move in design by Dufour after being so progressive for the past few years. The galley is next to useless with little counter space next to the sink and not much more at the hob. And as for the life raft recess in the transom - just how practical is this? If you have the misfortune to have to abandon ship the sea state is likely to be severe. The fold down transom will be bucking up and down as the boat pitches and you are expected to extract the life raft and deploy it....I think not. Perhaps if the door was on hydraulic rams that kept it down it may be achievable.
