I can't believe he's gone. I'm not a person who worships or even cares about a celebrity for the sake of them being famous and all of the "celebrities" I love have in some way inspired or influenced my life. Steve Albini was on a short list of people I would have loved to have met. It's probably better that I never got the chance though because I'm sure I would have freaked out and annoyed the guy 😂 R.I.P and thank you
@@simonmagus2199 yeah Steve albini is very prolific but how many people do you know personally that listed to big black or rape man, the band itself isn’t celebrated in any type of mass capacity my point stands playa
The awesomeness of this song never dwindles and would sound just as great as ever if I listened to it every single day for a thousand years...probably.
+ItWentChunkaCHUNK I think the lyrics are more nuanced, there are pretty visible hints that the woman secretely enjoys all of it, even though she's ashamed to admit it. What I like about this song is that you can read it either way, it tells a story without forcing a particular view on it.
Because Albini isn’t playing their game. Don’t forget CDs are the rich man’s eight track. Mr. Albini saw how the digitization of music was going to change everything almost twenty years before it happened.
Even though I don’t think it was albinis intention I think that interpretation of the song is really interesting. It adds a whole other layer to the narrators internal conflict- that being between wreckless self destructive sexual behavior that leads her… or him to being taken advantage of, and repressed sexual desire (if the narrator is gay or bi), or maybe even just desire for attention & company (therefore betraying his orientation out of loneliness). I also think transfeminine/transmasculine interpretations could be interesting- maybe the narrator is betraying their own sexual boundaries in order to feel validated as a desired trans woman, or virile trans man. Much to think about!
heard this in the secret life of pets 2, been on repeat ever since!
what
WHAT
I so wish this was true. I'd watch it just to hear this.
lol you just trying to trick us into watching the whole film huh? jokes on you maybe Ill like it!
why hpoww why why why what why
"You said it didn't matter... And after a while... I guess, I guess it did start to matter."
Absolute master of nervous raw energy
Used to play this in a goth/indie club in Australia, 1990ish. Most unlikely floor filler...ever.
I could see that. It's kind of like "Gold Digger" right
I think of this comment every time I listen to this song.
the good ol days
One of the hardest choruses I’ve ever fucking heard

still one of the greatest unknown bands of all time.
+Keapher boling Unknown in circles of people with their heads in the sand. Steve Albini is ridiculously prolific.
+Keapher boling I know them.
99.99%+ of all humans at earth are musicially "with their heads in the sand".
are you kidding? he produced nirvana's last album (among many, many others); he's extremely "known"

RIP Steve
I just realized that Albini is dead when I read your comment. RIP, that's on a par with John Peel's death.
you can never listen to this song loud enough
Jimmy Giuffrida it needs to get louder n more infence n shaved with a chainsaw errrr I want to fuck a chainsaw in its muffler
Jimmy Giuffrida my ears are never satisfied. Fuck
This might be my favorite Albini song.
The awesomeness of this song never dwindles and would sound just as great as ever if I listened to it every single day for a thousand years...probably.
one of his best songs and one of the most pissed off songs ever made rest in peace steve i will always admire you
An awesome musician, a great songwriter and the best recorder ever.
Steve Albini can do anything.
So grubby. So brilliant.
You'll like it.
I don't think many people would imagine Steve Albini to be able to write a legitimately heartbreaking song but here we are
There's nothing heartbreaking about this. Do you just mean social norms in western culture are heartbreaking? That has some truth to it.
this is the least heartbreaking song ive ever heard
It's only heartbreaking if you're a woman lmao
@@linglingjr "I've gotta stop drinking around men. They take advantage of me." This song is about sexual assault.
You're damn right. Skinny Stevie is a freakin God!

I just started reading kurt cobain's journal, and apparently he absolutely loved this band.
Steve Albini actually ended up producing In Utero.
This album taught Kurt everything he knew 😉
he loved scratch acid, too, and collabrated with the jesus lizard.
he stole his talking voice from albini (or maybe they just sound simmilar because theyre form seattle)
@@tomgreenfan I thought Steve Albini was from chicago

Alternate title for this track: "Men Suck"

+TheCiastek63 No, really, I wasn't editorializing. I have the CD and the song is actually titled "Trouser Minnow (Men Suck)"
kek, I did not expect that
The 4chan kids love steve
You'll get some some day, Johnny boy
FUCK YEAH
How come I can't get this on iTunes?
Kinda get the feeling he'd appreciate the return of vinyl but would be dismissive of how it sounds like a digital interface on vinyl.
yeah what gives, big black, shellac, and just about everything else on touch and go is on there
Because Albini isn’t playing their game. Don’t forget CDs are the rich man’s eight track. Mr. Albini saw how the digitization of music was going to change everything almost twenty years before it happened.
because its got rape in the title
vinyl sounds way better than the cd
No sht?!?!...i GOTTA C that!!👍😁
Bill Cosby wrote this
Oh yeah, I read about that
Daniel Stangl I don't understand the joke but that's probably because I'm not American.
Bill Cosby is accused of being a bit "touchy feely "
Nails4teeth with men?
women
He probably invented it.
Lets make him mainstream
So confused
No shit??!!😂😂😂😂👍
OmegaTheta77769999
yeah

why is no one talking about how this actually just sounds like hes saying he 'accidentally' has gay sex when he drinks
Because maybe we can hear the lyrics and realize it's not about that at all.
Beacuse we're not gay like you 🤣
