Ryan Roucco has called some of the most memorable Yankees games in recent memory
More than 235,000 games have been played over the past 140 years of Major League Baseball history, and this is just the 24th perfect game. Pretty amazing.
That's nutz
well, when you say it like that...
Indeed.
When you got the best baseball players playing the best baseball players, one completely utterly beating the other is rare. But not has rare as I thought after reading this.
@@ikilledpunk16161-100,000 is very rare lol like extremely rare
I love how even the A's fans cheered too.
It's just such an impressive, historical feat. If you don't applaud the pitcher, you just are classless imo
A's fans don't really go to A's games. The majority of those who did likely left long before the final out. What you're hearing is Bay Area-local Yankees fans.
A’s fans don’t exist 😂
A's fans haven't had much to cheer about this year, so they needed something. Even if that something was a perfect game for an opposing pitcher 😂.
@@paradiseracer2437you taking it way to deep bud. They love the game, they hate their owner more
There's always one impressive defensive play that helps keep a perfect game alive. Rizzo snaring that grounder in the fifth probably qualifies in this one.
No, that was pretty average if you ask me.
Donaldson had some pretty tough plays, weird hops it the hot corner
yeah their defense is really good too, its not just german
@@DeepDishPizza 9 inches is average, right?
@@DeepDishPizza nobody asked you
Credit to all these guys for clutching it up and not cracking under pressure.
We’re talking about the Athletics, right?
@@asher1kenobi right
Great job German and you're right, all the boys were feeling pressure not wanting to blow it for him. I keep thinking of Rizzo's play.
Domingo only cracks under pressure when he's with his wife.
Unlike yan Gomes
he did it under a hundred freaking pitches. that is absolutely insane!!
And ge was already on 30 in the 3rd. Must've tidied it up a bit in the final four innings.
He went to 3-1 count only twice
Maddux-like efficiency.
And when he beats his wife, he does it under 100 slaps.
Don Larsen needed only 96 pitches for his perfect game in the 1956 series. It's quite an accomplishment just as you say.
Shout out to Anthony Rizzo for making that diving stop & then for taking that errant Donaldson throw on the foul side of the bag!! Congrats Domingo!! Let's go Yankees!!
Bro literally was thinking that soon as I saw it , base hit right there if rizzo doesn’t make that nasty play
100%
I saw Donaldson let go of that ball and I could tell it was horribly off.. you can even hear somebody makes this face in the broadcasting panel 😬😬 lol
That was an impressive play. Very low probability out considering it was a bullet to his backhand. That’s why they say a perfect game is a team accomplishment.
Came here to say the same thing. LOTS of good defense but that catch was absolutely not a routine pop fly.
Anthony "I caught the last out of the greatest world series ever which also ended a 108-year drought and I caught the last out of perfecto no. 24" Rizzo. What a life he's led so far!!!
And the last out of Kluber’s no hitter
@@lukeschannel2983 oh yes, I missed that one ! Imagine being Rizzo's grandchildren sitting around him while he tells stories
@@ErickMaciasJuarez "Ay c'mere, ay, I got a story for ya. My old friend Javy did this unbelievable play, sit down you'll like this."
I believe that was Luke Voit
Higgy was catching for Kluber too! 😮
I love how hard the dugout was trying not to make a big deal about it after the 8th inning. They were avoiding eye contact like crazy 😂
That’s kinda the superstition of it all. They would ignore and have the pitcher sit alone to not disturb it. Great pitching
When a pitcher is ON like Domingo was last night, you don't want to disturb the aura that surrounds that pitcher.
They know the rules 😂😊
I think Vin Scully said it best when a pitcher takes a perfect game or no hitter into the 9th: There goes the loneliest man on earth.
I’m a Red Sox fan, but tip my hat to German and the Yankees. A perfect game is one of the rarest, coolest things to see in baseball.

Ooh, and I see the A's were the longest current streak in MLB.
2:50 “One out away from Forever” Epic call.
This is the first perfect game with a pitch timer ever and also in under 100 pitches. I’m so thankful to had witness this moment live!
That’s a lie. Do your research first. 10 perfect games were under 100 pitches. Addie Jones threw a perfect game by throwing only 74 pitches. No one cares about the pitch timer.
@@DeepDishPizza "No one cares about the pitch timer." I beg to differ. The guy on the mound and the guy at the plate care about the pitch timer. It directly affects them.
@@user-hc5nz9um2h Huh? What are you talking about?
@@DeepDishPizzayou said no one cares about the pitch timer. The pitcher and batter both do. The pitch timer isn't some bullshit irrelevant thing. It makes both people's jobs harder.

This shows why baseball is the ultimate individual and the ultimate team sport. German will go down in history and deserves it, but the Yankees defense made a number of outstanding plays in the game as well. And as the game went on, their focus intensified. 4 players ran out for that pop up to center. They started catching everything with two hands, pausing to make sure of their throws. They all wanted this for their teammate. This is why I love baseball so much.
Well said!
Thank you someone finally acknowledges that
I wouldn't really say they made outstanding plays. More like they executed routine plays without errors. They are major league ball players.
Yeah why is the pitcher credited with it when fielding does a major portion of the work
he doesnt deserve it though
Baseball immortality!
Frl
It was against the A's... prolly one of the least impressive perfect games.
Not even counting the fact it was on the road cuz ya know... the A's.
@@nahor88 Baseball immortality! READ AGAIN
@@nahor88 Regardless of who the opposing team is, it’s still an impressive feat and achievement. There’s a reason why in more than 100 years of MLB history, it’s only been done 24 times..
There were two pop-ups into CF which Bader did a great job of asserting himself on. These past few years, it seems that so many pop-ups fall in because of infielders running into the outfield, and outfielders in turn having to pull up to avoid a collision. Germán's curve looked great. No one could square it up!
1:07 that’s a home run at Yankee Stadium haha
Amazing game and hyped to catch it live! Plenty of run support after yesterday too
You right 😂😂😂 wow
that's a homerun in a lot of other stadiums
I don't think it would be actually. From the middle of right field to right center, it's roughly 362-385ft at Yankee Stadium. It would've been close, though.
@@gffjjuu2697 I think you’re right. Probably warning track but I don’t think it leaves the stadium
Absolutely. A whole section deep in Yankee Stadium.
A perfect game is an achievement not just by a single pitcher but by the entire team. Great 👍
Except poor DJ LeMahieu who was a second DH on the night
@stepsinpairs Ironically enough the last Yankees perfect game another "DJ" didn't have to do anything defensively
His offspeed stuff was amazing. That curveball was a thing of beauty! Congratulations to Domingo German.
Rizzo felt that last out. Looked exactly like the last out in game 7 of the World Series.
A perfect game is just amazing...the idea of facing 27 batters and getting every one of them out is just insane. Congrats to German!
He might of thrown but the fielders rlly did alot of the work 2 props to them

Congrats German! Really didn't expect this after giving up 10 runs to my terrible Mariners but he sure earned this one. Great defense behind him too.
Like when Len Barker broke a 13-year drought of perfect games in 1981. He was no Nolan Ryan-type superstar pitcher either.
As a fourth generation Yankee Fan, I’m so happy to finally say I’ve watched a Yankees perfect game with my dad 😊. I’ll never forget tonight
German pitched it, but Higgy CALLED it. I think Higgy needs some love here as well. I hope he gets some credit. In the end, he will be in the record books as the catcher. :o)

I would like to congratulate the NYY for a perfect game. I believe that every member of the team should receive a 'perfect game' pin. While Domingo was, indeed, perfect, it also took the back catcher to not fumble or lose any of those strike pitches, as well as every outfielder being on point and not fumbling, tripping, or messing up a throw to first base. Fantastic foot work at 1st, BTW. That one throw was a reach-for but foot remained on the bag. Again, it takes a team to accomplish this feat. So congrats to ALL who were a part of it. Very exciting indeed.

That umpire that fucked it up, Joyce, he’s actually a really good umpire, so it was pretty sad that a really good umpire made such a bad call.
@@Troutprophet I watched an interview with him. He definitely felt bad and there was nothing he could do about it. Wasn't that back when they didn't have the challenge system? Then it was a reason they added it, or did they just not have a challenge left. I can't really remember.
It's impossible to explain to a non-baseball fan what a perfect game is. Because it doesn't sound hard. You just don't allow any hits, or walks, and no errors. How hard could that be? 154 years of baseball history, and it's only been done 24 times. But it honestly doesn't SOUND hard.
I threw a perfect game as CC Sabathia in a 2014 baseball video game, and there was no special commentary for it, and certainly no special animation, because I think they didn't think it was possible, or it was rare enough that there was no reason to animate/have announcers react to it.
I also love that you don't have to explain to the A's fans who showed up and who stayed what this is. And after a point, even as an A's fan, you realize the game is lost, and you start to root for the perfect game, because then you can say that you were there, you saw a perfect game.
