- Episode 2510 - The Kingdom of Morocco - Culture
This week on This Is America & The World, Dennis Wholey travels to the Kingdom of Morocco in North Africa. To understand Moroccan culture and history Dennis turns to the rich religious traditions of the country by visiting a variety of sites that speak to the interdependence of different faiths all contributing to the rich culture of Morocco. An interview with Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, and a visit to the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates which articulates the role of Islam throughout the country. In addition, The Museum of Moroccan Judaism in Casablanca communicates the presence of Judaism’s history in Morocco and a visit to St. Peter's Cathedral in Rabat touches on the Catholic presence within the country. Those of each faith live as neighbors in peace within the wonderfully unique culture of Morocco.

We are all the children of Adam and Eve. We have to respect the other's believe. Morocco is a country of tolerance through history. Jews is a part of our identiy, we can not ignore it and this is a part of how we are educated. Jews and Muslim were and still living in Morocco together, sharing the same culture, traditions ans even we have religiions which are somehow different but we have the same feeling which is the love of Morocco. As a Moroccan expression saids. The religion for God and the country for everybody. Greetings to all Moroccans Muslims Jews and Christians inside or outside Morocco ، from Moroccan Muslim

The precise title of this great video would be better: the religions cohabitation in Morocco
23:45 beautiful video but that's not middle eastern architecture that's Moroccan Andalusian architecture was invented in Spain and Portugal

You forgot the snow in ifran the switzerland of africa 😂 ..
1milion and half peaple taking Coran n'y Heart hamdo lilah juste in morocco
I Think there's some mistakes in the video or I'm the one who didn't understand him correctly, because the ones who was kicked out from Spain are mostly European Muslims and some Jews and then some minority of amazigh and Arabs , but the most of the Jews in Morocco they lived there for centuries , if that's what he meant he is right 👍🏻, and I think that what he meant.

why on earth this guy in each episode is constantly asking what is Islam from everyone at some point it became way too much and unintelligently approached.
Why videos are always 26:47 long ?
"most"
that was a cap.
He said 90% of Moroccans are Muslim , and I am also counted within these 90% , as every Moroccan is counted as a Muslim by default ...so for the official statistics I am a muslin too although I am the Godfather of Atheism ...always been always will be .....
Wallahi no one asked
@@mossaabzamame6047 no one asked me what I believe and there are no statistics in Morocco by religion beliefs or non beliefs
It is like the "vaccine stamp" all Morrocan have :D
@@truebomba exactly I have one or two of those stamps too....
Shut
BUT SIR SERGE BERDUGO YOU MUST TELL THAT YOU WAS A MINISTER IN THE MOROCAN GOUVERNEMENT AND YOU NEVER FELL ANY RACISME
At 8:32 the answer was most that mean 30% ..... u didnt meet real peoples .
Islam is a foreign religion to Morocco , what you will find in Morocco is a rather local version of this cult called "Sufism" ....which has nothing to do with what you will find in the middle east....so the first misconception you are making is seeing Morocco as part of the middle east , which it is not and never was true.....
You re lost shut up . Our dynasties always defended Islam
My Gosh 52000 mosques , imagine if we turned them into schools , public libraries , training centers, factories , hotels ...how better off the country will be ....instead of hoping for an imaginary paradise after you die , you will be living in a real paradise in your lifetime....
The role of a mosque is not only a place of prying it is actually a school where people learn. I myself got schooled in mosque when i was a kid like every moroccan. Also, most of mosque (99%) are built by charity actions not by the government nor private companies
the mosque is also a school and has a library in it !!
A mosque is a school so many old people learned how to write and read thanks to mosques
Morocco without its Jews would have been nothing ...they are the ones who developed the arts ,the culinary traditions and the architecture etc...that made Morocco unique ....
The history of Morocco is older than the presence of the Jews in Morocco, as they existed in difficult eras, and the Jews are known in the societies in which they live, they remain closed to themselves. Art in Morocco and culture was influenced by Islam before the Jews
Your comment is funny. You have to read history a little bit...The Kingdom of Morocco is deep in history and civilization
Not only jews...
@@jamalmonasef4167 تعليقك واش جواب علي ولا عليه
Ahahah this guy Clearly doesn’t know nothing about Morocco
The real title :
" kingdom of morocco : religion"
the documentary doesnt present the cultural diversity of Morocco
The minister of Islamic affairs speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He talks about giving and he fires on a daily basis Imams who disagree with him or ask for salary increase or other rights. He says everyone has to give and he takes the livelihood of so many imams and their families.
أنا استغربت فاش عرفت الأئمة شحال كياخدوا و فاش تعين كوزير مرة أخرى خصوصا أنه كيبان بللي معندوش دور بتاتا و عمرو بان دار شيحاجة
we don't need imams , we need philosophy , sciences and english teachers...
Their work should be done for free actually it’s a plus not a must .
@@TheSchiffReport we don’t need commender of the faithful either
@@kawtarkawtar7024 why is the commender of the faithful ( aka the king) getting one million $ a day from the the annual budget ? He should do it for free as well especially that he doesn’t need it😂
I see so many lies in this video, especially about the freedom of belief in Morocco
Tu crée ce compte à la hate et juste pour mentir on ne cache pas la vérité le Maroc est un pays tolérant et il n'est pas comme ton pays Algérie decapeteur des têtes, pays terroriste crée par la France et gouverné par des généraux mafieux.
@@mhm8113 English please
@Rach B Why are you asking about the weather in Spain? Who is jealous of whom? Am I missing something? 🤔🤔
@Rach B Yes, I live in Spain.
Liar 🤥
The state shouldn't and mustn't interfere in religious affairs like this. It's immoral and backwards and should be illegal like in the US. Now that you've witnessed Islamic theocracy first hand, Dennis, I hope you'll see it for what it is and passionately oppose it in the US and elsewhere!
stop hating ...
Kataro Quasinzki! You make a Great Point 👍🏼 the sponsorship of religion by the state in Morocco is the pillar supporting the monarchy theocracy. It has become a sin to oppose the king because these religious leaders paid by the states make it so “a sin”
Faire point to dicuss. but could you enlighten us on why this is immoral based on clear universal moral principles?
@@truebomba The state must be neutral towards religion (neither for nor against; unless a _universal law of general applicability_ is violated) like crossing a red light to perform some religious ritual in time or denying kids blood transfusion (as some Jehovah's Witnesses have done)
@@kataroquasinzki7383 You have repeated yourself and didn't provide why such secular principles should be universally morally superior. To save your time, such a statement is difficult to substanciate without a eurocentric narrative.
