Wow, admittedly I wasn't expecting to see "Heat" in the "lightweight" list... In my head, i've always thought about it as more of a "medium weight" game, but I guess it is pretty simple, once you get going.

Kimberly - this is my infrequent message that you are brilliant and keep up the good work. Looking forward to the medium and heavy list.

Great list, Kimberly! I love Heat. We just started playing Sagrada and we’re really enjoying it. Our game group loves to end our evenings with Quacks. One of our favorites not in your top five is New York Zoo. I love games that feature polyomino shapes. ❤

My top light strategy games would be:
    1. Targi
    2. Conspiracy (Abyss)
    3. Knarr
    4. Splendor
    5. Ares Expedition (Terraforming Mars)

Unicornus Knights is the best Pandemic style game I’ve ever played because it has story and theme and w dry game plays drastically different, whereas Pandemic is so samey that even Pandemic Legacy isn’t much fun. The newer editions of Pandemic do have vastly improved art though.

Hi Kimberly, agreed on Sagrada and Cascadia; I don't think Pandemic is for everyone and the theme in Quacks -- I personally really don't like games with potions as the main theme (and quack is more and more prevalent in society and games nowadays). I don't know if I will get Heat, because I have all of Downforce.

I'm curious about Heat. I usually enjoy Days of Wonders products a lot. But I already have Automobiles, which is very similar (bag building instead of cards). Still undecided.

Nice list! I love almost all of these games (including Honorable Mentions) too!

I would play most of these games. But I feel like some of these are more luck than strategy.

I've traded away Sagrada and prefer Azul. Played Heat and prefer Formula D. But I absolutely adore Quacks and would willingly play it almost any day or time. Excellent choice.

I really like Clank! but my wife absolutely hates it. More than halfway through the campaign and she never wants to play any flavor of Clank! again.

Hi Kimberly, Nice list. Pandemic, Cascadia, and Sagrada are among our most played family games. I havent played the other two. Two others that our family plays a lot are Ticket to Ride: Europe and Azul.
Never heard of Almanac, but I like Scott Almes games so I will have to look them up.
How about also doing a list of solo staples or two player staples (although I don't know whether they should bo games for only those numbers or games that play great at those numbers)?

Interesting. HEAT was one of my biggest disappointments ever. Quickly traded it away after getting so excited. It’s pretty much pre-programmed. A really risky gambit you pull off does not guarantee victory, or even getting ahead. Everyone is just min/maxing their deck. I also hate the upkeep in this game. I vastly prefer Formula D because a risky gambit that pays off pretty much always guarantees victory.
Without risk/reward and with player actions so identical I found it really boring and frustrating. Not fun at all.
