  • It all depends on who you ask, but the question as to whether or not ACTOR or Performance Training matters, and if it helps in any real practical way, is one that I am asked fairly often. SO...here we are. I'll discuss why and how I believe training is a valuable investment for performers, VoiceOver artists, and narrators and the best ways (in my experience) to seek out your ideal learning path.

Love the gold prospecting metaphor. I have been training and performing as an improv actor, and I truly agree with you that training and preparation are essential! I’m excited to take what I’ve learned as an improv actor and apply it to voice acting! Thank you for an amazing video.

Yeah definitely liked that one too. As a former performer, comedian, singer, etc, the experience is invaluable. Didn't realize it before starting this thing myself, but it definitely transfers.

    Wonderful video Jay,
You seem to be speaking to many "truths" I'm just discovering in the "You don't know, what you don't know", phase.
    Thanks as always,
    B

If i had the money for it I'd take so many classes and book coaches to smooth out areas I am still working on. However I'll have to settle for tutorials and practial on the job learning.
Thankfully ive been affored at this point an amazing agent and been booking animated shows, movies and games which is really affirming that im doing okay!
Again though once im earning enough i will 100% back track and take some courses , coaching and classes to brush up on basics i didn't even know i didn't know if you get me.
Sure you can do well without em' but the gigs are just made that much easier and your confidence is more solidified when you know with validated conviction you are doing a good job.
    Love the videos!
